**Official USMNT Soccer Thread**

Wasn't in all the way? Where you see that at?

"build something special for the future" -- what int he world? This ain't about the "future" this is about RIGHT NOW. Hell, you acting like we're in the 2018 already... that sh*t ain't promised.

Exactly.
People acting like this is the Gold Cup or a tune up game.

This is the World Cup. You...Me...Jurgen may not even be around in 4 years.

We win now. This isnt the NFL where we build through the draft and shoot for next year.

You dudes still living in 2010. LD is not making a difference in our success or failure this WC. Y'all just gotta accept that he's past it.

Does Klinsy seem like the type of coach to hold personal grudges against a player?

And even if he does have a grudge, it's something that LD brought on himself.

How so?
sabbatical

That and showing up to camp out of shape. Making excuses for not being able to practice well because he was old. Diva mentality. Not to mention his poor form.

Like this really shouldn't even be that big of deal. He's in poor physical shape and in poor form. Don't care what he's done in the past he shouldn't get a guaranteed spot despite that.

Even if he was on the squad he'd be a bench player. He's not the same guy.

Got dudes on here acting like an out of shape and out of form 33yr old was going to be the difference between us advancing in a group of death. He would hardly even have played

And y'all should know European coaches don't play that diva ****....they don't give a damn about feelings unless you're on an elite elite level

It just hit me that we will probably never see Landon in a US shirt ever again...... such an unceremonious way to go out damn.

You all cite his sabbatical but Timmy Chandler, who decided he only wanted to play in ONE qualifier is still gets a "pass" and is on the squad? Pls help me understand.

Diva mentality? How so? You have inside info on that b/c the only LD I've seen since JK took over has been understanding of his role and humble.

ESPN FC guys are saying Green had his spot locked before he committed but isn't that kinda obvious?

[emoji]128079[/emoji][emoji]128079[/emoji][emoji]128079[/emoji] to Landon for an incredible USMNT career but this isn't a complete shock to me...he wasn't gonna start anyways but I would've liked to have seen him on the team for his leadership and experience on that stage but once I saw the first ep. Of the documentary on espn and dude seemed reallllly apprehensive talking about he can't train for certain lengths of time and all...writing was on the wall. He's well past his prime

Lots of youth, Juergen is building for 2018 too.

Green is not very good imo.
Donovan and Freddy Adu showed more in their debuts but hey Donovan succeeded and Adu didnt so maybe that doesnt matter.

I've just read through some of this thread because of the Donovan situation.. But are people really up in arms about people born outside of the country representing the US?

Where are you guys during the Olympics?

i think it was more of a..."disappointed we don't have enough talent within the country" type of argument. not so much a problem with people born outside of the country representing the national team.

Haven't watched him enough to know. Just seemed like he was courted to play for us but hopefully he fulfills the hype

Smh I hate that sentiment so much. Boyd, a guy who didn't even make the team has been more "patriotic" than anyone

Sad to say but Landon didn't have a place on this team.

If it's the 60th minute and I need an immediate impact sub off the bench at RM/RW to try and steal a result against Portugal/Germany I'm putting in Yedlin before Donovan 10/10.

Boyd is the guy I really feel for. He's playing out of his mind right now I really thought he was going.

Green is clearly a "for the future" pick.

Also may a bit of Bayern Munich favoritism from Klinsy.

Doubt he contributes this WC but I'm sure JK wants to make sure he stays with the US in the future so he was an auto selection

                 Altidore

  Dempsey   Bradley   Bedoya

      Beckerman   Jones

Chandler Besler Omar

 Fabian

I wonder if we'll see something like this.  Obviously Dempsey wouldn't stay out wide he'd drift centrally underneath Jozy. Fabian and Chandler are switched because of the reports out of Stanford that Fabian was mostly lined up at RB. Chandler would provide the width on that left flank Fabian can easily do the same. Really just playing that Cameron is starting with Besler but we'll see.
