**Official USMNT Soccer Thread**

Jurgen is about to have a press conference (wonder what he will be talking about

) on ESPN3.

So either thru espn3.com or the WatchESPN app

Why is it so hard for people to fathom that the young players could have beaten out and out of shape, and out of form old guy based on their play?

Because we all saw the WC qualifiers/friendlies. If Donovan was the worst guy on the field then no one would be arguing. He could have made it over Bedoya, Zusi, Chandler, and Green based on WCQs and friendlies.

the kid deleted the account, not just the tweet

kudos to Jurgen for actually addressing it today in the presser

Landon Donovan has absolutely no business making this 23 man roster over Bedoya or Zusi by ANY metric.

Going strictly by ability to to help the team win he has no business making it over Chandler either.

Whats the deal with the kid and donovan? Is he pissed at donovan for something he did to his dad or just a hater?
From what Jurgen said, it sounded like he was just trying to make a joke amongst friends and didn't realize he was actually being followed on Twitter by some relevant people that took notice.

What I think happened was, the kid probably just tried to make a cynical joke in bad taste, came off sounding like a hater. Instantly regret it, and deleted the tweet and his account.

Anyone have any idea on when we can get official #s for the players?? I want to get my jersey still but don't want to get the wrong number

By ANY metric?  He's scored more goals than Bedoya and Zusi in WCQ/GC/Friendlies combined.

How can you even judge Chandler's "ability to help the team win" when he hasn't even played with them in over a year?  Donovan has put in more work with the USMNT than Chandler whether you agree or not.

Yeah, that's literally just a fact lol.

I'm not stressing the Donovan thing.  Didn't we bring on Klinsman for the express purpose of building a new U.S. program for the future?  And we should be hanging on to Donovan , who took a year off of soccer, because of what he did in the past?  Let the young guys make their own names...  Maybe they'll show us something.

So has a guy named Eddie Johnson but  point taken, metric was an extremely poor choice of words. I should have said reasoning.

When it comes down to ability Bedoya and Zusi are both superior players to Donovan right now in 2014. They're both playing better for their clubs, Bedoya in a far superior league, Zusi for the reigning MLS champions. They've also shown more commitment to the shirt throughout two years of qualifying. There are also tactical reasons to consider. Maybe I read your post wrong but it seemed like you were dismissing Bedoya and Zusi saying Donovan deserves to be there in their place which is disrespectful to them and also flat out wrong.

Despite the enigma that is Timothy Chandler, we can judge his ability to help the team win because we know what he brings to the table as a soccer player. We're talking about a guy who was named to the Bundesliga team of the week at RB and RM multiple times at the end of 2013 and beginning of 2014 before he tore his meniscus. Saying Donovan deserves to be in Brazil over Chandler because he's "put in more work" is ridiculous if the goal in Brazil is to get results.
