Can someone fill me in on the Panama game. I just got home from work
grin.gif

First Half:

- Defense was getting beat especially down the middle by Panama
-Zusi scored
-Bunbury is hot garbage with stones for feet

Second HALF:

-Cameroon get a red card for a very weak foul
-Bunbury is still has stone feet
-Defense finally gets there !$!# together somewhat
-Sapong shows some quality skills
- Oh and Shea is non existent the entire game. Dude looked straight up gassed

Can't wait to see the Italy game

Nice article in NY times on Joeseph Gyau, he was called up to the first team for Hoffenheim last week and was checking in with the fourth official about to make his debut in extra time when the ref blew the whistle. Hopefully he gets his chance this weekend. This kid has scary tools.  Brek Shea isn't even a guaranteed starter for the Olympics, a lot of people rate Gyau and Josh Gatt higher.

Asone of the top young American prospects in Europe, Joe Gyau has emergedfrom the Bundesliga winter break to be part of Hoffenheim’s push toqualify for European play.
Gyau,19, began taking the initial steps last summer when he was invited totrain with Hoffenheim’s first team during its preseason. While Gyau didplay in some friendlies for the club, he was not part of the team’splans for the first half of the season.

During the fall he playedextensively with Hoffenheim’s under-23 team but during the winter breakhe received a call that he would resume training with the first team inpreparations for the start of the second half of the year.

“I wascalled into the first team during the preseason last summer,

With Olympic Qualifying starting in March I figured I'd post the roster for the upcoming friendly with Mexico's U-23s @ Azteca. Gives us a pretty good idea who'll be available once qualification starts as well as who not to expect to see with the senior team for the Italy friendly the same day.

GOALKEEPERS (2): Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire)

DEFENDERS (7): Greg Garza (Club Tijuana), Perry Kitchen (D.C. United), Alfredo Morales (Hertha Berlin), Ike Opara (San Jose Earthquakes), Kofi Sarkodie (Houston Dynamo), Zarek Valentin (Montreal Impact), Jorge Villafaña (Chivas USA)

MIDFIELDERS (6): Joe Corona (Club Tijuana), Mix Diskerud (Gent), Dilly Duka (Columbus Crew), Jared Jeffrey (Mainz), Amobi Okugo (Philadelphia Union), Michael Stephens (LA Galaxy)

FORWARDS (

: Freddy Adu (Philadelphia Union), Juan Agudelo (New York Red Bulls), Terrence Boyd (Borussia Dortmund), Teal Bunbury (Sporting Kansas City), Joe Gyau (Hoffenheim), Jack McInerney (Philadelphia Union), Brek Shea (FC Dallas), Tony Taylor (Estoril Praia)

We finally have a roster for the Italy game next week...

Do we really need all these DMs?

Goalkeepers: Tim Howard, Brad Guzan, Nick Rimando

Defenders: Carlos Bocanegra, Geoff Cameron, Timmy Chandler, Steve Cherundolo, Clarence Goodson, Michael Parkhurst, Jonathan Spector

Midfielders: Michael Bradley, Maurice Edu, Fabian Johnson, Jermaine Jones, Jose Torres, Danny Williams

Forwards: Jozy Altidore, Terrence Boyd, Edson Buddle, Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan

i would of rather see klejstan instead of edu..

also a bit disappointed that i wont be able to see boyd play smh

Boyd deserved this call-up. Also, good to see Cameron and Parkhurst gettin the call after some solid performances last month.

I'd roll out this formation:

-------------Howard-----------------
Dolo - Goodson - Parkhurst - Chandler
-----------Jones - Bradley------------
Donovan----------------------Johnson
--------------Dempsey---------------
--------------Altidore----------------

With Johnson and Chandler being fluid in making runs up the side and covering on defense.

Or to be more offensive

-------------Howard-----------------
Dolo - Goodson - Parkhurst - Chandler
---------------Jones---------------
Donovan------Torres----------Johnson
--------------Dempsey---------------
--------------Altidore----------------

Yeah, I'd love to see us not play two DMs. I figure that's gonna happen tho...

I'd keep Boca slotted in at CB. Not trying to see those two against Italy. Maybe if it was a CONCACAF minnow...

Sucks that Gooch hurt his knee again, but at least its only two months. Hope we have him for WCQ.

He's been on his job scoring like crazy for Borussia Dortmund II. Something like 11 goals in 17 matches, but they do play in the German 4th division. He's been training a lot with the first team, might even have made the match day 18 recently but he's yet to make his debut.

From what I've seen of highlights and streams from the U23 camps he's big, strong, intelligent off the ball, and has good feet.  I get the feeling that Caleb Porter rates him over Agudelo and Bunbury as a #9.

Good lord, what happened to him now?

I love the USMNT and LA Galaxy but just can't follow the sport in general nearly as close as I follow the NBA or NFL

Uh...so...

US Soccer has confirmed that Jermaine Jones is out with a calf injury.

Timothy Chandler and Jose Torres reportedly both got hurt this weekend and are now doubtful.

...and now there's rumors that Donovan still isn't over that flu bug and might not play.

No word on any replacements (if any are coming).

Anyway...Italy put out their squad. They left out Balotelli, despite all their other injuries at striker...

GOALKEEPERS: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Morgan De Sanctis (Napoli), Salvatore Sirigu (Paris Saint-Germain), Emiliano Viviano (Palermo).

DEFENDERS: Ignazio Abate (AC Milan), Davide Astori (Cagliari), Federico Balzaretti (Palermo), Andrea Barzagli (Juventus), Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), Domenico Criscito (Zenit St. Petersburg), Christian Maggio (Napoli), Angelo Ogbonna (Torino).

MIDFIELDERS: Daniele De Rossi (Roma), Claudio Marchisio (Juventus), Riccardo Montolivo (Fiorentina), Thiago Motta (Paris Saint-Germain), Antonio Nocerino (AC Milan), Andrea Pirlo (Juventus).

FORWARDS: Fabio Borini (Roma), Sebastian Giovinco (Parma), Alessandro Matri (Juventus), Giampaolo Pazzini (Inter Milan)

Kljestan hopefully will get a call up since players are dropping like flys.

Was excited with the original team was announced. But with a bunch of key players gone including possibly Donovan im really disappointed

Good for Sasha. Off club form alone he deserves another go at it under Klinsman.

I'm pretty bummed about Torres, was really looking forward to seeing him again.

I don't know Boyd but Dortmunds 1st team is unfortunately on every position very good.Even Barrios is sitting on the bench.

Brek Shea is a huge disappointment so far (based on how confidently he plays in the MLS vs how sloppy he plays for USA). He's young though, so hopefully he steps it up in the future

He is not a huge disappointment so far.
He has fluctuated in in his performance but that i believe is more so to do with his maturity level than anything else.

Overall I don't think he's played all that sloppy with the national team. He was terrible in January but so was everybody else, I think he played better with USA from late summer through the fall than he did the second half of the MLS season. Either way he hasn't really been in form for a while now. He looked like he was going to run away with the MLS MVP award the first half of last season.
