**Official USMNT Soccer Thread**

Woooo! So happy I was wrong yesterday. This is historic; it's the first time we've won in Mexico, friendly or not. Timmy was fantastic yesterday.

I'm pretty optimistic about US soccer, just really hoping the youth programs become more solid and start developing great players instead of decent/good players.

Clint was not involved over the last four weeks so he is not going to be in the squad," said Jol.

"He is not committed to the club. He wants to leave.

"I would like to keep him, but I think it's impossible. It's a sad and an almost embarrassing situation.

"There was never an offer. Clint himself told everyone he was going to Liverpool before he came back so we really thought there was quite a firm interest in him.

"Even (Brendan Rodgers) told everyone he was interested in Clint Dempsey, but our people never had an offer on the table, so it's almost embarrassing.

"If you have shown interest in a player, especially in England, you have to follow it up with an offer. They didn't."

hopefully Dempsey's situation gets resolved soon..its been drawn out way too long..maybe Liverpool, Arsenal or Roma will come for him after all

Everton would be a parallel move, so i dont see that happening especially since hes holding out to play for a top club..even though i wouldnt mind seeing him play there

There's no room on Arsenal for him.
LP showed a lot of interest, wondered what happened there.
Milan still hasn't replaced Ibra yet, but chances are that they won't even consider Demps

Bradley's out for both Jamaica fixtures:

FROM SBI:

Injured Bradley out for USA's World Cup qualifiers against Jamaica

Bradley

If the U.S. men's national team is to take a pair of World Cup qualifying results off of Jamaica, it will have to do so without the services of integral midfielder Michael Bradley.

Bradley's agent told FOX Soccer that he will miss the Sept. 7 and 11 matches against Jamaica after picking up a right thigh injury in training with AS Roma on Tuesday, one that is expected to keep him out for the next 2-to-3 weeks.

"The hope is that Michael can return after the international break or very soon thereafter," New York-based agent Ron Waxman said.

Bradley's absence means that the onus will likely fall on the likes of Jermaine Jones and Kyle Beckerman, who started in the midfield against Mexico with Bradley unavailable a couple of weeks ago, to control things in the center of the field against the Reggae Boyz.

:smh::smh::smh::smh:

imo Jose Torres has to start. we can control the tempo against jamaica and thats what torres is best at.

GOALKEEPERS (4) : Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)

DEFENDERS (9) : Carlos Bocanegra (Racing Santander), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover), Maurice Edu (Stoke City), Clarence Goodson (Brondby), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim), Michael Orozco Fiscal (San Luis), Michael Parkhurst (Nordsjaelland), Jonathan Spector (Birmingham City)

MIDFIELDERS (8) : Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Joe Corona (Club Tijuana), Joshua Gatt (Molde), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04), Brek Shea (FC Dallas), Jose Torres (Pachuca), Danny Williams (Hoffenheim), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)

FORWARDS (4 ): Jozy Altidore (AZ Alkmaar), Terrence Boyd (Rapid Vienna), Clint Dempsey (Tottenham Hotspur), Herculez Gomez (Santos)

Joshua Gatt is out with a hamstring injury

:smh: Sucks, I was excited to see him play....he'd be very useful as a ~65 minute sub, dude has wheels...he always seems to get these nagging injuries though hopefully its nothing serious and he'll be good to go after the break, he was tearing up Norway

Funny how forward is kind of a strength for us now  with Boyd, Jozy and Herc all doing well in their respective leagues

 Who would have thought? And we're only getting better in that area.
He certainly would be a good sub especially against Jamaica whom we somehow always struggle with.

Well, that ******g sucked.

Knew we would have issues with the players that are missing, but playing 3 DMs in a narrow midfield diamond with no width or creativity?

That L is on Klinsmann.

The forwards were getting no service at all :smh:

This game was bad to say the least. Beckerman is not made for the international game. Hard worker, but nothing else. klinsy need to insert Torres or Corona in the midfield to create some plays going forward. Granted Altidore was not service, but he need to hustle out here. Thats always been my beef with Jozy. He's too lazy outhere. Not panic mode yet, but we need these 3 points in Cbus Tuesday.

About 40 minutes till game time. This is a must-win game.

Lineup: Howard; Cherundolo, Cameron, Bocanegra (c), Johnson; Williams; Zusi, Jones, Torres; Dempsey, Gomez

Amazing first half performance. 2nd half wasn't too bad either

Must win and we got it, but looked shaky at the end. Williams had a great game and played box to box all night. Gomez with the goal and played inspired.

Not a pretty 2nd half but 3 pts is 3 pts.
