**Official USMNT Soccer Thread**

Columbus was phenomenal. Won't be mad if we go back there next year in the hex.

Need to re-watch the game on the DVR, but Zusi/Dolo were the standouts over there on the right. Williams, Cameron looked good too.

Jozy Altidore scored a hat trick and provided an assist today in AZ's 4 - 0 win over Roda JC.

He's now the Eredivisie's sole top scorer with 7 goals in 5 games. :smokin

Jozy :pimp:

Sadly most Americans really won't know how good he is. I mean granted that in our NT games when he isn't getting any service and just fades away :x

came in last week

next up Terrence Boyd, shirt is

Also American Soccer Now did an AMAZING job putting together a project ranking the top 100 American soccer players right now.

The rankings aren't really the important thing but they've compiled fairly detailed profiles for all 100 players and it allows you to sort by all kinds of interesting categories like birth-place, club captaincy, league, height/weight, and the usual categories like international goals/assist and caps.

Was just about to post the list myself. I'm also surprised at some of the players left out
Is Joshua Gatt still injured? I know Klinsmann called him up last time

A player to look forward to

A lot of folks are saying Jozy's remarks after JK's SI interview is what sparked him being left off of the roster. If so - they both need to grow the **** up. This ain't England - we don't have time for the drama. Especially since there's a very real possibility we may not qualify.

Watching Chris Wondowlowski with SJ every week, I can honestly say he deserves to be there based on his statistical scoring record and not much else.

He's a good finisher but he's no where near clinical. He can't create for himself or others, he's not a particularly good target man and he's not great running off one and getting behind the defense either... We all know where he excels. His movement and intelligence in/around the box are EXCEPTIONAL but at this level, no forward is lacking in that area. I still wouldn't mind seeing him get a full 90 with the rest of the first team but it's not like he hasn't gotten any chances at all.

Alan Gordon is too old for my liking but he's our best target man right now. When you look at our qualification history, as ugly as it is, outright center forwards like Connor Casey and Brian Ching have single-handedly won us road games against CONCACAF competition many times over the years and Alan Gordon is more skilled and a better finisher than both. His skill set will be valuable at some point in qualifying, you can take that to the bank.

Boyd getting left out is fine. He's been a regular of late and will be for years to come, but in a one-off today, I honestly think Alan Gordon gives us a better chance of winning.

Jozy's omission is the result of a personal matter between him and JK, pretty sad. My patients with Jurgen is wearing thin too. It's never been his personnel selection but the application of those selections during matches. If Beckerman starts over Williams as the #6 it's cookies. :smh:

Donovon is injured and Shea is sick.
I understand that Alitdores club success hasn't really translated into international success but Gordon has no international experience. gordon is better in the air so I expect to see a lot of crosses.
