**Official USMNT Soccer Thread**

where are you guys from? there's definitely an outlet for urban children to play in California. San Jose, Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, all continuously put out some vicious club teams.

can't speak on Socal but at the recreational level these cities provide more than enough opportunity for anybody who wants to play to play. in Cali i really don't think accessibility to the sport is a problem and it's definitely not what's keeping kids from playing competitive soccer at a young age. yea club soccer cost $ but it really doesn't get to be unmanageable for the average household until the teen years.

i'll be the first to say it though i'm definitely not the only one to think it. i believe Klinsmann did mean to imply that we need to target children of color, specifically black kids. and i think he's right, just seems like common sense to me.

USA coach Bob Bradley has been touted as a possible replacement for Roy Hodgson at Fulham.

The Mail on Sunday claim that Bradley is being considered as the successor to new Liverpool boss Hodgson for the managerial post at Craven Cottage,

Bradley has spent his whole managerial career in America and is said to be keen on a move to Europe following an impressive stint in charge of the USA national team.

The Mail also suggests that Bradley would look to bring several players from the USA international squad to Craven Cottage to join American star Clint Dempsey.

Fulham are said to want to have a manager appointed before the team arrive for at their pre-season training camp in Sweden on July 19th.

Former England and Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has been linked with the managerial job along with Alan Curbishley, Mark Hughes, Glen Hoddle and former Celtic coach Tony Mowbray.

I think Klinsmann probably means targeting a combination of underprivileged black and hispanic kids that are overlooked because they live in poorer areas. I disagree with the "more than enough opportunity" comment you made.
Even within the poorer hispanic families that I knew, only the kids that had strong financial backing by their families actually had opportunities. That was rare too.

I doubt many or any of the players on the USMNT ever came from this underprivelged and diverese strata of society.

Klinsmann should be given full reign cause dude knows what's up

Eriksson is trash, how he had the keys to the Three Lions and even Mexico is beyond me. He has no reason to be in charge of anything more than a bottom dweller in the third division somewhere

I think that's an opportunity that Bradley just can't pass up if given the opportunity.

Herculez Gomez.
You can add

Clint Dempsey
Francisco Torres

A lot of these players dont come from the best area/social-economic backgrounds but luck has a lot to do with it

I played on both spectrum's; the ayso/club/local mexican league, and i can definately say that there is a lot of talent out there. I played all my life in Southern Cali and what makes this sport so amazing in our country is the many ethnicities that contribute to the sport (Mexicans, Europeans, Central & South Americans, and the list goes on) I have played against all kinds of different players and it amazes me how much talent theres out here...

saw BB at the galaxy game on july 4th. probably wishin he had started Buddle.

As the writer on Bigsoccer said, if he stays here, he'll forever be known as the guy who couldn't cut it in Europe aside from his short stint in Merseyside.

As the FACE of all that is US soccer he has to show what our product is about and what it is capable of doing.

MLS keeping him here is stupid, only reason for them milking him for a few more dollars.

He's a big fish in a still small pond, time to see if he can keep up with the more highly regarded fins across the pond.

Here's a question,

Can LD pull a Hideo Nomo / Alfonso Soriano and retire, then take off elsewhere?

Or is there a clause to prevent this in MLS contracts
