^ I was impressed w/ him, as well as Eric L @ the back....

This further lets us know that Robbie F and Jon Spector no longer need to see the pitch.

Very impressed with the youngsters

Yea Lichaj immediately becomes the #2 RB behind Cherundolo in my mind, with the goal being to have him fully transitioned to starter well before 2014.

You DONT  need ESPN publicizing the game if you follow the USMNT all the time. You already know

Just got home from work. Going to check out the game to see how these youngsters do on the big stage.

the best thing about agudelo, to me, is that it means MLS teams might be finally tapping the talent that alot of the ODP and club systems have missed. the elite clubs have been seen as the only route for the best players to get scholarships/pro offers, but the fact is that there are tons of kids who go unnoticed because they cant play for an elite club. MLS teams are finally developing academies, and these academies have financial incentive to find the best players, not the ones whos parents can pay exorbitant fees/drive their kids to practice and games. agudelo is one of the very first prospects to come through an MLS academy and score a goal. couple that with the return of the MLS reserve leagues and new rules that allow a ton of flexibility with youth players, and we've got some huge changes. its an enormous step for the development of soccer/the USMNT.

When Agudelo made that goal, I MARKED out
pimp.gif
. Some of that credit has to go to Mix also, the way he popped the ball up with 3 defenders surrounding him was pretty impresive.
Mix was also getting back and playing some good D
pimp.gif
.
Eric Lichaj is the future at RB, I would not be surprised if he starts this upcoming Gold Cup. He shut shabalala down, even though he did get beat a couple of times he still had enough speed to recover and block the crosses
pimp.gif
. shabalala had to move across the field to finally make something happen. He still needs to learn on how not to be over aggresive but other than that I really like this kid.
I was really disappointed with Robbie Findley, I think Bob gave him this game to showcase his 'talent' for a transfer this winter. I know he was playing as a target forward and thats not his position, but the damn kid didnt even look for the ball. smh.
Tim Ream was solid, he did pick up a late read early in the game but im blaming Jonathan Bornstein for that.
El Guzano was solid in goal
pimp.gif
, to me he was Man Of The Match. I was also impressed the way he controlled his defense.
But this dude Mix is
pimp.gif
, as soon as he came into the game he made an impact. I just dont know how his game is going to translate from being a cm to and outside midfielder.
When Teal Bunbury came in for robbie findley it was like night and day, he kind of drifted out the game when we went back to the 4-4-2.
Clarence Goodson was solid as well, but I would like him to be more of an enforcer on set pieces.

Ladies, the future of our team is looking very bright. Now if we could also get Mwanga and Najar, oh man

.
The academies are starting to make their impact.

The future is very bright. These are unprecedented times in terms of professional involvement overseas and in Mexico. We have guys playing professionally @ 18-19 who aren't even close to sniffing the U20 WC roster.

Does any of that U-20 roster play in college??

I got to see some solid talent this season at UCLA, UCSB (Sam Garza has played U-20, he keeps on getting better and better) and UCI (Amani Walker will be MLS)

Just to clarify, the list above is only select players from the U20 pool. I know Sebastien Ibeagha (Duke) and Dillon Powers (ND) are the only NCAA players on the roster for this week's camp. I don't think Garza has played for the national team since he tore his ACL a year ago but I'm sure he'll be involved again soon.

Despite the quality of play increasing at the collegiate level, it's been interesting watching the number of collegiate players making their way on to the field for the U20's decline as Rongen and his guys sweep the globe for foreign based talent.

For the United States National team, there are plenty of new faces in an old place.

The annual January camp kicked off on Wednesday at the Home Depot Center ahead of the January 23rd match-up with Chile. However, in the back of the minds of many are international tournaments on the horizon and with those tournaments coming up it is a chance for Bob Bradley to look at a host of new players.

12 players are in camp who have zero caps for the full national squad and six players took the field for the first time for the US with Eric Alexander, A.J. DeLaGarza, Sean Johnson, Zach Loyd, Ryan Miller and Anthony Wallace in their first camp. With a camp of many untested players, Bradley tempered the expectations on the first day.

"When you have a camp like this after 18 days, it's an opportunity for guys to get on the field and see where they stand," said Bradley. "In a big pool of players, we know what camps look like with certain guys there or not there is different. Your picture of a match after [the camp] has to take into account these factors, but it is still a good chance to see what it looks like."

The January camp has seen a number of players graduating to the first team with 10 on the 2010 World Cup roster went through the January camp at various times in the last cycle. The World Cup may be three years away, but the January camp is a chance for many players to put themselves in the conversation for a consideration on that squad.

While there is still plenty of time before the start of the Gold Cup preparations, Bradley admitted that one of the main focuses of the camp is the 2012 Olympics. Qualification does not begin until the early part of 2012, but an emphasis will be placed on which players can be potential factors for London. It is still unknown who will lead the U-23s in London, but as US Soccer looks to connect their various teams, Bradley may be on the touchline for the team.

"Part of the thinking of this camp was looking at guys who were Olympic age eligible and starting that process," said Bradley. "Similar to the last cycle, you can do some things early, but at the end of this MLS season, there will need to be a group coming together as well as work [next year] and hopefully being in London with a good team."

With competitions like the Gold Cup and the Olympics are months and years away, the focus remains on Chile. These matches can be of vital importance for players like 2010 MLS Golden Boot winner Chris Wondolowski, who is seeking his first cap for the national team. With his first day in the books, Wondolowski expressed excitement at earning his opportunity to make an impression with the national team.

"It's an honor and it has always been one of my biggest goals to play for the national team," said Wondolowski. "I'm looking it as an opportunity to learn from all of these guys from MLS and other places as well as coach Bradley. I know that they have a lot of knowledge and I just want to soak up as much as I can."

There were several notable absences on the first day of camp as Juan Agudelo and Alejandro Bedoya were not in camp. Agudelo is still currently with the US U-20s and will be in camp on January 7th. Bedoya will not join the camp until January 15th after Örebro chose to maintain his services for the start of their own preseason.

Of these guys, I wonder how many will make the cut for London 2012?

You can add Egypt 2/9/11 in Cairo and Paraguay 3/29/11 in Nashville to that list. Also the venue of the Argentina game has been changed to New Meadowlands Stadium.

Keep the talented South American opposition coming please.
