**Official USMNT Soccer Thread**

I seen 'not exactly a shock' in the thread preview and thought john Anthony brooks chose Germany, but it's about Donovan so idc.

am I the only person that does not want Donovan on the team anymore?

Personally, I want him on the team... but he hasn't really been part of the program since the 2010 WC. So I really wouldn't be upset if he's left off from here on out.

i do NOT want him on the team. the team needs to continue learning to play without him more than anything. we haven't had him around for a while now, why bring him back into the mix?

Aside from Bradley and Deuce, Landon Donovan is multiple tiers better than any field player in the pool.

Landon Donovan in the squad gives our national team a better chance of winning. Period.

I can understand not wanting him in the squad for the upcoming games because his play hasn't clearly warranted it since his return but this talk of the team needs to learn to play without him for good is silly.

I want him on the team too. He's one of our, if not our top wide option. Landon brings that something extra to our side that no one else can bring. We need him. Coach K knows this but he's proving a point. Landon wanted to do his own thing for a while and now JK wants to do his thing without Landon.

He'll be called back in for September WCQs without question.

would he play in the WC for us? i mean, would he play and would JK have him play?

U.S. ROSTER BY POSITION – DETAILED ROSTER

GOALKEEPERS (6) : Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tally Hall (Houston Dynamo), Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Tim Howard (Everton), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)

DEFENDERS (8) : DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Edgar Castillo (Club Tijuana), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Clarence Goodson (Brondby), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim), Michael Parkhurst (Augsburg)

MIDFIELDERS (10) : Michael Bradley (Roma), Joe Corona (Club Tijuana), Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo), Maurice Edu (Bursaspor), Stuart Holden (Bolton), Jermaine Jones (Schalke), Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht), Brek Shea (Stoke City), Danny Williams (Hoffenheim), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)

FORWARDS (5) : Jozy Altidore (AZ Alkmaar), Terrence Boyd (Rapid Vienna), Clint Dempsey (Tottenham Hotspur), Herculez Gomez (Santos), Eddie Johnson (Seattle Sounders FC) -

- Solid roster besides the obvious inclusion of Brek Shea over Landon Donovan.

- Oh and Danny Williams w-t-f-

-Sad to see Bedoya not on this squad. would have loved his creativity in midfield.

6 goal keepers?!?

Shouldn't be a surprise that LD wasnt selected

That's not a knock on you, deep. Just that JK isn't going to have it.

^ You're 100% correct.

I'm not surprised LD didn't get the nod, I just didn't realize how Brek did and not him. HOWEVER, after thinking about it, Brek is in the same situation as Stu, in that he needs to be playing competitively right now. If JK doesn't call Brek in, where's he going to train? Stoke's season is finished! It's better he's in camp and getting reps than sitting at home. It makes sense. Same goes for Stu. JK said Holden will be a part of both the WCQ side and the Gold Cup side. Don't be surprised if the same goes for Shea.

The only real snub to me was JFT. How he doesn't make it over Danny bleepin Williams is above me.

In regards to the keeper situation, it also makes sense to call in 6. I'm reading that the 3 MLS keepers will rotate though out camp at #3 in the depth chart. This way they don't miss too much time with their MLS club.

Ok, Coach K. I see what you're doing now. I ain't mad.

P.S. The offensive prowess of that Gold Cup side appears to be very real: Holden, Shea, Donovan, Mix, Benny F, McInerney, Bedoya, Johannsson. :wow:

These next two friendlies are gonna be a real challenge....

not really expecting a result, but just hope to see good effort and signs of progress.

Doubt we'll see it tho, I got a feeling Jurgen is gonna **** around with the line ups.......

also, forked up and purchased a Bradley jersey and that new long sleeve with the weird pocket on it

I think the USMNT is going to get stomped on tonight. Looking at their squad, they have a ton of talent. :x :smh:

Chelsea's s Eden Hazard, Tottenham's Moussa Dembélé & Jan Vertonghen, Everton's Marouane Fellaini & Kevin Mirallas, Man City's Vincent Kompany, Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen, Sunderland keeper Simon Mignolet , Aston Villa's Christian Benteke, & West Brom's Romelu Lukaku (on loan from Chelsea).

If that weren't enough Belgium also has Zenit's Axel Witsel, Porto's Steven Defour, & Atlético Madrid's keeper Thibaut Courtois (on loan from Chelsea).

It's on ESPN tonight, I think at 8PM ET...

Hazard, Witsel, and Courtois are not playing tonight. Still a loaded Belgium side, though. Expect a loss, but I gave up on caring about friendly results.

"Belgium's national team littered with emerging stars under 25 will run our mostly O-26 squad around the pitch for 90 minutes. They'll struggle to score despite dominating, and we'll eek out a 1-1 draw. Then someone with a personal agenda who has no business providing post-match commentary like oh say Alexi Lalas will wax poetic about our "heroic efforts" while finding a way to take a subtle shot at Klinsmann."
