**Official USMNT Soccer Thread**

still looks horrible:

ever since the 14-15 leaked, been messing around in PS for a couple of weeks. Wanted a simple look using "red, white, & blue:"

Yeah it's still not good, but I'd prefer that over what they did.

And your PS actually has me liking that polo top. Nice job.

Blows my mind how similar Michael Bradley and his dad are with their speech patterns and mannerisms. If you only gave me their voices, I would have a hard time picking out the two

Nike Inc uploaded more pics... A panoramic, Spike Lee, DJ/Producer Diplo, & Indie band HAIM :smokin

I don't love the kits but they aren't horrible. They do look a lot better on. If Julian Green's name set is available, I'll get my son the away shirt. Even if it looks like a bomb pop. :D

Some of the worse its I've seen recently are the Adidas Spain home shirt with that fugly yellow v-neck. If it weren't bad enough, Adidas had to use it again for Fulham's home shirt. Yuck. The v-neck border is down right fugly.

The truly awful shirt is this 3rd Marseille from Ligue "Un". Look at this faux denim shirt complete the the "jeans" back pocket on the front... :rolleyes :smh: They should lock the the designer of this shirt under the jail & then put the dept head who approved the design under that person...

I'd chill on getting a Julian Green Munich kit. So many things would have to fall into place for him to actually break into the first team. Not to mention he'll most likely be loaned out another Bundesliga club for the upcoming season at the least.  Either way can't wait for tonight hoping Green gets at least 45 minutes.

I dont understand why the US has to go abroad to find players...this is 2014 not 1994. We have such a large country and cant find 23 players born and bred in the US? Dont get me wrong I have nothing againt foreign players but we are acting like Qatar and Canada by going abroad. Mexico is another country that shouldnt be nationalizing players from Brazil and Argentina. Ive come to the conclusion that its all about Money. Federations would rather have the clubs do the scouting and not do the ground work themselves. Problem is just cuz an "american" is on a Bundesliga or Premier league B squad doesnt mean he is a better option than someone playing state side.

Julian Green was born in the USA, I don't see why including him the national team is a big problem.

ajiiiplatinum ajiiiplatinum , from the outside looking in, I think Kilnsmann wanted to inject some immediate talent into the team the US currently didn't have. Players with technical ability. What Klinsmann did was savvy really but it's kind of a blue print that Germany has foliowed for the last 15-20 years when they started rebuilding their football infrastructure. Part of their plan was to embrace their immigrant population & got those kids into their youth programs. Kids from African & Turkish parents. The fruits of this movement include the likes of the Boateng brothers, Ozil, Khedira, Gundogan, etc.

I like what he did, getting Green was a real coup. I didn't think it would happen but I love it. I also love that Klinsmann got Aron Johannsson too. He stepped right in ready to contribute. None of this "Oh he has to have a period to gel". This would be the case if he grew up playing here as we coddle our athletes but he got his football schooling abroad & it showed.

Signing Klinsmann long term & also making him technical director should pay dividends down the road. I also love that Tab Ramos was promoted to youth technical director too. The program is headed in the right direction. I love it.

I'm on the east coast but you bet I'll be up for the game!

I was gonna mention the German program as well, but the one thing that is a little different is that all those players you named were born in Germany

Yeah, but I think Klinsmann wanted to get some fresh talent on the roster so he looked around for US born players that were eligible to play ASAP & it worked because they played a vital role in the success we had last year.

Also didn't get to mention that I think 2 of the Boateng brothers went on the to Ghana national team even though they came up through the DFB youth programs. I know Kevin did & now plays for Ghana...

Edit - also Green was born here but he left to live in Germany at the age of 2 so for all intents & purposes he's German...

Absolutely, a big thing Jurgen has done is take big chances and by adding players like Johannsson, Green, Johnson, JAB (although he has a ways to go), etc and inject some new life to this squad and just expand our previously shallow pool of players to select from.

Relying on MLS/American-born players, is basically what Bob Bradley would be doing; essentially banging his head over and over again on the same door, hoping to uphold mediocrity.

With what Jurgen is doing, and looking for naturalized US players, he's able to boost the over talent of what we have now.

I mean @psk2310's criticism of the MLS says alot to where the bar is set for American-born players, its pretty obvious that we needed to look elsewhere for an infusion of talent; at least in the immediate future.

The development of our domestic, American-born players will take a bit since its not like we can just get the Brad Evans', Demarcus Beasley's, Clint Dempsey's, Jozy Altidore's, Omar Gonzalez's, etc of America, and simply just ask them to take the next step become instantly better players.

That's just not how athletics work... hell even life doesn't happen like that unless you hit the powerball

The growth and development of American players will be noticed in the next 8-10 years. And thats where I'm pretty excited having Jurgen helm that and bringing in great outside influences like Berti Vogts and having Tab Ramos around to help mold and advance what the standard of American-born players will be.

Why is it every time USA plays Mexico in the U.S, why do they always cater to the Mexican team and play in states or cities with a strong Mexican population?

To me it kills the home advantage.

Probably to ensure they sell as many tickets as possible
