I actually think the US might do well. I think Low has underachieved with his German side. He hasn't really done much despite being almost 3 deep at every position. I think he'll be fired after the WC & rightfully so. This is one of the Euro teams I think will struggle in Brazil.

Portugal will only go as far as Ronnie will take them & he's dealing not only with thigh issues, but knee tendinitis also. Reports are that he hasn't looked comfortable after coming back to practice. Tendinitis is no joke especially if it's in the knee (for someone who runs).

They key really is how well Germany plays or doesn't play. US just need to take one game at a time & go balls to the wall (& not play Omar)....
 
I think the squad will do well. I say that every world cup but I truly believe that.
 
I wish I shared y'all optimism. But the best case scenario i see is 4 points. 

Germany 7 points

Portugal 3 points.

Ghana 5 points

US 1 point

i think 6 is probably best case scenario though with 4 being likely. is 4 enough? we'd certainly need help and some bounces to go our way in the other matches within the group

getting off early thursday and friday. going to miss the opening game on thursday, but should be home on time for all the matches on friday :pimp:
 
Off for all 3 American group games

Off Thursday and Friday...lil bro graduate Saturday so I'll prob miss most games except the late one

I'm just hoping we can get out of group play. Any group of death is tough, but this one for us especially facing Ghana and Germany. Portugal I think we can beat if the defense plays a near flawless game. That means no Omar. The Germany match will either be a blowout or a solid match, depending on whether or not they've sewn up their advancement. But seeing that attack go at our back line will be painful. Ghana's Ghana, they'll have our number again, but we may be able to pull out a result depending on which US team shows up.

If the US can escape this group, I'll be proud of them.
 
Realtalk, I have basically no expectations tbh. Obviously I want us to do really well but the World Cup is so hard to predict... Maybe Kimchi Papi Kimchi Papi is on the right track with not doing brackets/fantasy. Having no expectations is different from having LOW expectations because I certainly expect us to give all 3 nations in our group a great fight and be in it till the end. But having no expectations


A) makes watching the games a little more enjoyable.

B) and makes it a little more realistic with where we stand, and where the completion is.

We are getting close, and I will be rooting my *** off that we shock the world. Because lord knows, the rest of the world (and some of our own self-loathing American citizens :lol:) looks down on the USMNT.

Lmao. I think 4 PTs is our realistic target. Even then we need other results to go our way. Regardless there's no better feeling than screaming a USA goal in a WC :pimp:
