**Official USMNT Soccer Thread**

Landon and Lalas?  so pretty much its gonna be USMNT slander central

I thought Lalas was a US soccer homer.
The only negative thing he said was that they aint gonna win the world cup. Whats wrong with that. During qualifications and friendlies he raves about US players. I get the feeling he doesnt like Klinsman though

this intern at work going on and on about donovan and how he hates having all these "germans" on the team. give me a ******* break :roll eyes

i just asked him what the last game he watched was....USA v Ghana 2010

Lalas is like footy's Trent Dilfer for ESPN. Both are loud mouth schnooks & think they were better players than they actually were. Their analysis (or lack thereof) is very poor. The only reason why they're continuing to be employed is because they're both mouth pieces that generate conversation just like skip bayless & stephen a smith does... If you listen to what they have to say, it's based on very little logic...

Taylor Twellman = Sean Salisbury, sans the **** pics.

Both angry dudes, who got hit in the head a few many times and, sadly, greatly suffer from some sort of brain damage from their playing days; it really shows in their irrational presentation when on the air.

Belgium cancelled the closed scrimmage set for tomorrow because they don't want to get stuck in Sao Paolo traffic.

Klinsmann should rent a helicopter and go pick those dudes up.

He said they wouldn't make it out of the group. Can't blame him for that though.

Exactly. His credibility and objectiveness would be out the window. Im not a Lalas fan but he makes pretty good points.

I think the US has a fighters chance vs portugal and ghana if they bench Altidore ( we know what he can do and he aint donovan, wynalda or brian mcbride)The US athletes have stamina and endurance and that can play a part in brazilian temperatures. I have heard several foreign players say the US is always fast paced and has a go go go mentality...what they lack in skill they make up in relentlessness. Think of Park from United. Obvioulsy Park has a lot of skill to go along with his golden lungs.

Anymay i like Johan or Wondo to go along with Dempsey and Bradley. Mix shout start too...very unselfish player

Nice. I was worried about injuries here. Were lucky to get here with all of our players available.

Anyone know where I can buy a Tim Howard USA goalkeeper jersey? The one on WSS looks like a standard shirt with Howard nameset, is that my only option? Thanks!

Y'all got that inferiority complex when it comes to US men's soccer. Germany's backups can destroy us? Nah playa

Watching the FIFA special....Alexi Lalas is a clown. Klinsmann has that European skepticism, but he's calculated and he knows what the hell he's doing by saying that.

klinnsman's comments are being overblown. the headlines of these articles make it seem like he's telling people the US shouldnt even show up. he's saying an expectation of winning the world cup is unrealistic. perfectly OK to say IMO.

USA vs Ghana will have a soggy pitch... :x

Natal on flood alert prior to U.S. opener

The Brazilian city in which the U.S. play Ghana in their World Cup opener on Monday is on high alert after 36 hours of non-stop rain sparked flooding and landslides in some districts.

But the sun broke through the clouds on Sunday, prompting this tweet from U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann:

1000

Monitors said more than 220mm (8.7 inches) of rain had fallen in Natal -- well over half the average 350mm total for the month of June -- ahead of the match, due to be attended by U.S. vice-president Joe Biden.

The sudden and extreme weather conditions led mayor Carlos Eduardo to impose the state of alert, and the local authorities have evacuated around 50 homes.

Power to some areas of the city has been cut off as a precautionary measure, but Christiano Couceiro, a spokesman for the fire department, said: "Our teams are alert and ready to avoid accidents and to not have the city come to a stop due to this."

A statement to residents said "the key words here are caution and solidarity" and that "the best thing to do is wait -- and wait in a safe place."

Nice comparison lol

I have my away kit in my car ready for when I hit the bar right after work. I believe that we will win!

Jealous of all these teams who have 3 pts already. When will it be our turn..

I hope the drainage system on the pitch is top notch. Not sure who these conditions benefit though.
