**Official USMNT Soccer Thread**

Were ok bruhs....we outplayed Portugal heavily aside from the 5th min and the 95th  smh Löw and Klinsmann are boys, and Germany stole our tournament in South Korea in 02 with that handbal. And we have karma from not quitting against panama and singlehandedly allowing Mexico to even participate in this World Cup.

Karma? We should have never let Mexico in plain and simple.

What if Germany gives us a taste of our own medicine like we did to Panama and scores on us late when we were both going through already? I probably shouldn't be at work that day smh.

Absolutely heartbroken. Hold me bros.

seriously. we had it. what an effort to come back and equalize and then take the lead. absolute kick in the ****.

someone tell me if they think i'm wrong here...but 5 minutes of stoppage time? total BS IMO. i've said it before today that almost all CONCACAF teams been getting screwed on stoppage time. our first game against ghana, mexico has, costa rica has. it's been ridiculous. but what can you do. proud of our boys. really proud of how they played.

let's get a result against germany. we still control our own destiny so let's get it done. no ******* excuses. let's ******* go.

Hopefully they come out playing to win and not just tie. Teams always seem to squander away games when they take the "we don't need to win, just don't lose" approach

Lets be real.....

Looking thru the WC and Ultimate Football thread when the draw was first announced, the majority of folks basically had the USMNT labeled as the Jamaican Bobsled team going into Brazil......

Check the position we are in and how the team has looked.

We are on a good path right now

Hold on, we are gonna be just okay.

I believe.

DeadsetAce DeadsetAce , there was a lot of stoppage in play (like Besler getting hurt) in the second half. In the final 5 minutes I told my wife I thought there would be 4 mins of extra time.

rck3sactown rck3sactown , I said just before the WC started in this thread that the US would show well. I also thought we'd win 3-2 or 2-1... Almost had it until that frickin' equalizer...

Kimchi Papi Kimchi Papi yeah we were guessing 4 minutes max. when the 5 minutes went up, the entire bar groaned. it's whatever though. it's done and the fact of the matter is that we did turn the ball over on that last rush that POR scored on.

I've been a fan of this team long enough to never write them off in any tournament/game. And yes, before the WC if you said we'd be at 4 points now with a chance to advance to take it we would've and we would've raved about what a great WC we had. But the reality is we played above everyones expectations and we have been the most consistent team in this group regardless of how pretty we've played. We deserve to go through. Portugal doesn't deserve **** and you can tell by their reaction that the tie didn't mean much to them. As much as the pundits wanna say we're still favorites to get out of the group, it will definitely not come easy for us.

We play GERMANY next after an exhausting and deflating game in Manaus with one days less rest.

Ghana gets a basically eliminated Portugal team after a Manaus game. All European teams have struggled after their Manaus game. Ghana will destroy them on the wings.

This scenario is not that farfetched for Thursday:

Germany 1-0 USA
Ghana 2- 0 Portugal.

Unfortunately, that eliminates us.

Like I said during our qualifying games vs Turkey and Nigeria, those elementary types mistakes can cost you your tournament and we had 2 of those moments today. I have faith our team will come out and give it there all on Thursday, they always do, but will it be enough? Ghana licking their chops at this Portugal team.

Regardless of what happens Thursday we've played with great heart and gave every team a legitimate scare in the group, even Germany today while we were winning. I'm proud of what this team has done in 2 games and hope we make it to that 4th of july QF game :pimp:

If you've been following this team for long, then you'd understand this team isn't playing above expectations. It's playing exactly how Klinsmann has built & trained this team to play. We all saw how this team performed with various players during the qualification process & it was the best football I've seen from the USMNT.

God bless him, but this is the hire we should've made instead of Bob Bradley (I said as much at the time). We would've been further ahead had Klinsmann been hired then.

I know today will be the most watched USA game ever. A lot of those casual fans got to see the ups and downs of the game and got to see why this is such a cruel sport. Will they be back for more? Lol

I'm talking about general worldwide expectations, not mine. I always believed we'd get out of this group. We tried to get him at the time but it didn't work out so we got stuck with Bradley.

Weren't you the fella talking ish about the squad before the WC? You were screaming about the sky falling because Klinsmann didn't include Donovan on his roster...

:rolleyes

Man, I wasn't really into soccer like I am now, but I remember my boy was swearing by Klinsmann back then too

Anyone think Klinnsman should bench Bradley? I would love to see Mix Diskerud at Bradleys spot. He cant do what hes been doing against the upcomimg German midfield. They will have a field day tackling and picking off his passes. Better midfield than Portugal and Ghana combined. I think 2 games in the WC is enough to evaluate the form of a player and he clearly has his head in the gutters. Maybe get Cameron off for Brooks too who has experience defending these German players.

Sole reason I think Ghana did so well against Germany was their pace and wingers. They pressure and counter fast and that caused a lot of confusion in Germany's backline. I dont know if possession will get us anywhere, that defense is disciplined when not getting out-paced on counters.

fully expect bradley to play his best game against germany. fully expect it.

he wasn't as bad today as he was versus ghana...but man he had some turnovers that were just completely frustrating (including on the final play)

I'm proud of the fight I saw. Amazing how far US soccer has come since 94.I don't want to be accused of being a Homer, but Team USA has looked like the better team against Ghana and against Portugal. If you would've told me we would actually field a pretty good world cup team based on where we were in 94 I wouldn't believe you.

Definitely agree with you. Except I don't think we played as well against Ghana. If we lost to them I would've accepted it.

I mean, we drew (damn near beat) with PORTUGAL, a top team in the world (even if some key players were out/injured) and defeated Ghana.

yep, that was me today, so me and my group had to walk around and find somewhere to watch, only caught the second half, what a let down day

but the highlight of my day was the chanting in the union station bathroom
