**Official USMNT Soccer Thread**

Jürgen Klinsmann is a jacka**. US would have definitely beat Belgium if Landon Donovan was there. They lacked a scorer, Jozy's absence was felt and a lot of horrible defense. I really dont understand Klinsmann's ideology. Im still torn and ready to tear my hair out.

definitely? can't say that for sure, man. and not off the bench IMO. he'd have to start...which i don't see being beneficial. the subs that were brought on typically contributed and impacted games positively.

 how would Donovan score when the ball is in our half 80% of the game? The problem wasn't our ability to score, its always been maintaining possession to start our attacks. Doesn't matter if you have Ibrahimovic up top, if you can't get him the ball before you lose it, how the hell is he gonna score? Donovan or no Donovan almost all of Klinsmann's subs had an instant impact on each game. Even if Donovan was a sub, you'd still think he would of had more of an impact than Yedlin and Brooks? He didn't play Julian Green till the last game against Belgium and he delivered. I was just as sad as you guys to not see Donovan one last time but its a new generation and era in US Soccer. Deal with it.

Good run fellas, although I hate you guys as a rival, I respect the process you guys are currently in and I think you have a bright future.

Fabian Johnson will join Borussia Mönchengladbach.

They have qualified for the Euro-league which I'm sure will

make Johnson even more better.

I hope you didn't lost your humor :

It was a good run... We'll get that cup soon enough.

Julian Green.

I've been pleading for Green to get some time on the pitch since the opening game and look what happens as soon as he comes in. :smh:

At the end of the day, I'm very proud of the USMNT and they will always have my support. They exceeded expectations and we proved we can keep up with the big boys in soccer. This is by far the best team put together and we will have a bright future with Green, Yeddy, Jones etc going forward. Tim Howard is a ******* Don but at this point, we need to find his successor IMO. Klinsman ain't done yet and I believe he will stay past 2018. Whatever he is doing...it's working.

As far as the sport growing in America, it can happen because the USMNT had everybody's attention but since American public is soooooo fickle they will forget soccer exists as soon as the WC is over. I also believe the MLS needs to attract BIG names to come play here to get rid of that "retirement league" stigma. It's not gonna happen overnight but I think in a few years soccer will be up there with football as the popular sport in the country.

I was out in the city watching on the big screen and the tension was just wild for this game.

You guys' goalie Howard got so many saves we went from disappointment to clapping our hands

Shattered, but incredibly proud of the fight. Future seems bright.
Sucks that the next big moment (Gold Cup) is a year away.

Up next; 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup (7/7/15 - 7/26/15), 2016 Copa America (6/3/16 - 6/26/14), & 2016 Rio Olympics (8/5/16 - 8/21/16)... :smokin

2018 Russia World Cup (6/8/18 - 7/8/18).

You lost but in all honesty I think you left a decent or even good impression this year at the worldcup.

I viewed the US as the most irrelevant team of the whole worldcup, along with most of Europe I assume, but this match definitely left an impact.

Yeah, all he did was help us win the Gold Cup and qualify for the World Cup as a starter :rolleyes.

i'm not sure what he would have done to beat belgium. if you want to say he gives us a better shot, fine. but to say definitely wins the game for us is being a bigger stan than me with Tom Brady

One of the best things out of this cup is the run the young guys got.. Including Green's goal.

This team is supposed to be getting better every year. Donovan is getting worse every year from here on out... He simply doesn't have a place anymore.

And no, the team doesn't do any better with him there.

Do the Landon arguments really have to be addressed? Just let people post their opinions. It's like seeing someone get a ticket on the side of the highway, don't slow down & look causing a back up... Just drive... :rolleyes

they're just as salty as Landon

Here's someone that could be on Klinsmann's US side next cycle... The 21 year old striker moved from Mainz to Augsburg.

http://www.bundesliga.com/en/liga/news/2013/0000296890.php

Mainz/Augsburg - Shawn Parker has transferred within the Bundesliga from 1. FSV Mainz 05 to FC Augsburg, where he has signed a four-year contract.
The 21-year-old forward requested the move with Mainz obliging following an approach from the Bavarians.

'Good decision'

"Shawn approached us because he felt he needed a change. He wanted to play a more important role in a new environment and in a new team than was possible with us recently," said Mainz's sporting director Christian Heidel. "We think this step is a good decision for his personal development and we therefore wish him all the very best."

Parker was a produce of Mainz's youth academy and he made his Bundesliga debut in October 2012 against 1899 Hoffenheim. He totalled 27 Bundesliga appearances for the Coface Arena club, scoring four goals, although he made only three starts last season.

"Augsburg have a young coach, a great team and a tight-knit yet highly-professional environment," said Parker. "I'm sure something big is growing here in terms of the future and to be part of it is a big opportunity which I am delighted to take."
