~| the DOM. KENNEDY thread |~

With the exception of a few songs im struggling to enjoy his last 2 projects

yup.

just DL'd get home safely.

this is imo the make or break project from dude.

he's been jive weak for about 2 mixtapes now. if this tape is lackin, it'll be the last time i check for dude.

listenin right now tho and it sounds like he back to writin which is def a good look.

EDIT: im about five tracks in and i think its safe to say, dudes back.

tape ALREADY sounds better than damn near anything on the yellow album.

and i can tell he's def back to penning rhymes.

lol seems like dude felt the pressure and responded...

Westside II one of Dom's best projects.

true indeed. not sayin its wack.

im just sayin the direction of GHS closely resembles that of westside I more than westside II.

tape is flames tho. dudes rotation slowed down greatly in my ipod. hes def gettin more spins now...

sooooooo why is Section 80 on Spotify? And Nipsey's Crenshaw? Aren't those indie albums as well?
Not true at all...any artist can get music on spottily IF they use the right sources

Artist who are on spotify but aren't signed go through 3rd parties to get on there. From what I know of at least.

Websites such as TuneCore work very closely with independent artist and for a price, you pay them and they are the "middle Man" that gets your work on there. Nipsey himself is a Tunecore artist, and tunecore specifically work with indie artist to get their product on iTunes, Spotify, amazon, etc.

@Tunecore #TuneCore Artist @NipseyHussle took a risk & priced physical #Crenshaw album at $100 & Jay Z bought 100 copies: http://hub.am/1bJy6B0

So while I should have been more clear with my initial statement, the point I was making was that in order to get on things like spotify, amazon, itunes, etc. you can't do it yourself is what i'm getting at. Whether it be websites such as tunecore,( its a few other websites as well like them) or outside help/a label.

thanks for clarifying. Man I ain't bought an album in I don't know how long--- if it ain't on Spotify 9 times outta 10 I'm not listening to it :\ It's just more convenient.

 no problem G. Most people unless you are into the business side of Music (Wouldn't say that I am in it, but rather working towards getting in it) wouldn't know that. I love Tunecore though.

Not sure if you would know or not, but when I make an artists album available to me offline so that it won't count against my data, are the artists still paid? So happy Spotify got The Dramaless version of Crenshaw.

^

I would think so-- I mean, you downloaded it .... so yea, I think they are still getting something. I'd think anytime something is added as a playlist or downloaded they get compensation.

I've always wondered how it worked though, on programs like Spotify and google play where you pay a monthly subscription and get access to music.

Westside II one of Dom's best projects.

See I'm confused about that. It's his most popular, it had the most mainstream appeal to it and imo he does slightly more rapping on it than he did on the Yellow Album. Still wonder why that one get's a pass and TYA doesn't. With that being said, I still can't choose my favorite Dom album because I love them all equally. (yes yes, I know I'm a Stan.)

TYA doesn't need a pass it might actually be Dom's best.  Never understood some peoples response to that project.

I'm with you though to me everything after 25th Hour except Best After Bobby is more or less equal.

All his projects got 3-4 complete standout tracks, everything else rides never anything subpar.

OG DK is definitely up there. Was running through the catalog a couple days ago and I can't believe FS/DS is goin on five years this Spring.

TYA just doesn't add up with the others.

That was the only project he's released that fans seemed to have a a problem with. The complaints weren't outta the blue, he was soundin weak.

He went to that freestyle/cut in-cut out flow for TYA and young nation and the s*** sounds wack. The music wasn't horrible but his flow/lyrics def were.

He even addressed the fans criticism of that album by tryin to call them stupid (simple) for callin him out on it.

He pretty much acknowledged all of this by going back to his old style for GHS. He felt the backlash and responded.

TYA and young nation weren't BAD, they just coulda been better. Dude got lazy.

He brought the lazy flow, but it blended perfectly with the production.
