I've wondered why he's seemed to stray away from Poly, always thought they had a great chemistry. I'll PayPal $100 to anybody here who can name me one bad polyester/Dom collab.

He said for the album most of the production was brought to him/done on the spot, they prolly just wasn't there.

Yea after listening to them joints my opinion aint changed, they definitely got a party energy to their songs that differentiates from the chill vibe I'm referring to

Just glad we got away from slandering Dom

wut on the spot bruh

nah bruh

yeah everybody just wants that cali vibe/soound....i'd hate to see it go away.....

Listened to the 1st 10 sec of a few tracks. Went on here and saw reviews. I can't believe this dude veered off. Dom needs to make up for this. I ain't gonna write him off yet

HE abandoned that entire sound, imo. That smooth mid-90's Jodeci vibe was his lane:

Ericka pt. 1
I Love Dom
Turn Me Out
Don't Call Me
Young Nation - Vol. 1 (Entire Album)
The Hotels.

Fam left that entire sound.

I think every artist reaches a point where fan desires meet their own artistic ambitions. Maybe he wants to "evolve" the sound? Take it in a different direction? Either way save some parts of Get Home Safely most would say it hasn't worked. All of that aside Dom is responsible for a lot of good rap music and now is the perfect time to revisit his work and see how it has appreciated

And while on the subject of his previous works, how would yall rank em'? Best After Bobby excluded because it was, for all intents & purposes, a "mixtape"(no original production). And let's exclude the Young Nation vol.1 project as well since that was more of a crew compilation than a true solo effort

1. From Westside With Love 2
2. The Yellow Album
3. Future Street/Drug Sounds
4. OG Dom Kennedy
5. From Westside With Love
6. Get Home Safely
7. 25th Hour
8. By Dom Kennedy

I think i listed all his projects with the exception of those excluded
3 thru 5 are interchangeable in rank to me. Theyre all equally good

Solid list, FTWWL 2 at the top? Always thought that project had a few glaring inconsistencies. Was never a big fan of "Money Don'the Stop" or "She Ain't In Love". And thought the Michael Rocks and Asher Roth features seemed outta place. "Graduate" and "When I Come Around"(one of mustards best beats??) both crack my top 10 Dom songs for sure.

Not a fan of she ain't in love??? :wow:

That's classic dom man :smh:

Yellow album on top !!!
From the westside 2
Get home safely/ from the westside 1/ future street

What? Every single one of those songs you named are FIRE. That song with Asher & Mikey was tough too. Had that song on in the whip & my friend said the same thing n he didnt even know who was rapping haha. My favorite Dom song ever is Me Again tho

Love the production on "Money Don't Stop" but felt like both of those tracks felt a little purposeless within the context of the album. Don'the get me wrong now, they're not unlistenable I just could've done without.

Still working on my list. Yellow Album and FTWWL are comfortably in the 1 & 2 spots though.Yellow Album is in my top 10 albums of all time brah, straight up. That's a great album. Was rolling through the city in a red 1988 900 turbo with gold bb's that summer. Gotta a Lotta good memories with that one.

1. Future Street
2. Westide 2
3. Yellow Album
4. Westside 1
5. OGDK
6. GHS
7. 25th Hour
8. BDK

1 -7 are all solid. Hov dropped vol 3 which was a dud, and kingdom come was pitiful. I know Dom will bounce back and 7 solid projects is impressive.

I agree with all of yall, I love the songs being named. It's just those 2 joints man. And New Jeeps is cold, I just wish he'da got some better features for that one. I think it's just Asher's verse lol. I'da been smooth with a chuck Inglish verse

The fact that we all rank em differently is a testament to the quality of his catalog. Thats why I asked, amidst all the slander it's easy to forget his contributions. Sounds like we all been fans for a minute now. In light of recent events many a debates have been sparked around my way. Couple of my homies don't understand Doms appeal. 1 of em' even said "dom kennedy's 1 of the most overhyped rappers in recent memory, i'd rather listen to Currensy."
As if Spitta and Dom bring the same thing to the table. Forced me to reflect on my fan hood and how I could better articulate it next time it comes up. Any suggestions or major points of contention? Obviously music is subjective and we all listen for different reasons, even still lol.

yo he had some doppe collabs with fly union....and currensy....and that inglewood dude with the braids or somethin forgot dude name he was rockin with game for a sec
