~| the DOM. KENNEDY thread |~

Curren$y is my fav rapper of all time so i will not tolerate any slander on him lol. All of his collabs with Dom are on point

Oh nah no shade playa, just thought the comparison was a bit inaccurate. My man E was saying that Currensy is a Dom substitute. I think they're 2 totally different rappers with 2 totally different agendas

Ohh aight. Well Curren$y is a better lyricist but their subject matter is similar. Theyre both in that chill lifestyle hip hop lane along with guys like Smoke DZA etc.

And I dont see why Dom & Spitta wouldnt be cool anymore. Then again it did surprise me when Trademark left Jet Life

I always felt like Dom injected more of a narrative into his music. More about being young and black and coming of age in LA. I'ma huge Spitta fan but his sh** always seemed less focused lyrically, more tricky wordplay weed, pop culture references, cars etc. Dom's more "slice of life"

Thanks brah, I been @ it like 10 years. Just released my first project about a month back. Been getting a Lotta local love. I could link you to the album if you want. But as far as where to start, corny as it sounds. Start with the heart dog. Figure out what you tryna say and who you tryna say it to, and stay open to suggestion.

glad to see all the love for young nation, thought it was a very slept on project. whole tape goes but these stay in my rotation

I think every artist reaches a point where fan desires meet their own artistic ambitions. Maybe he wants to "evolve" the sound? Take it in a different direction? Either way save some parts of Get Home Safely most would say it hasn't worked. All of that aside Dom is responsible for a lot of good rap music and now is the perfect time to revisit his work and see how it has appreciated

I remember watchin a Dom interview a while back and he said he didn't want to stay in that summertime music lane. I don't blame an artist for trying to evolve their craft but its difficult when the fanbase has gotten so used to the consistency that his music brought. Dom had a good run man :smh:

The whole young nation tape goes, except for the niko track.

MVP :x
Youza Flip :x
Work :x
Real One :x
Blue Cups :x

I always kinda sorta wished he would've replaced "5.0" with the "My Coupe" intermission for the yellow album. My Coupe leading into that Conversations woulda been proper. Conversations maybe one of my favorite Poly beats, smh jawn is too smooth.

yo he had some doppe collabs with fly union....and currensy....and that inglewood dude with the braids or somethin forgot dude name he was rockin with game for a sec
I've been rockin' with Fly Union since I seen em on that video with Big Sean :pimp:

The Inglewood guy you're referring to is Skeme. He's cool in my book too. Although I've only heard his "Pistol and Palm Trees" and "The Statement" projects.

Polyester and Dom is never a bad collab. The way he goes in on that piano on "323 Intermission", then leads into the beat for "Hotels". :pimp: :pimp:

Solid list, FTWWL 2 at the top? Always thought that project had a few glaring inconsistencies. Was never a big fan of "Money Don'the Stop" or "She Ain't In Love". And thought the Michael Rocks and Asher Roth features seemed outta place. "Graduate" and "When I Come Around"(one of mustards best beats??) both crack my top 10 Dom songs for sure.

Wow, When I Come Around has always been one of my favorite Dom songs and I had no idea Mustard produced this :wow:

Maybe he is capable of producing a decent beat  . That and Ice Cream are :smokin

Notorious is a certified banger, and one of my favorite pure rapping performances from Dom.
