What's good with Nike Elite Basketbal Crew socks? (SOCKS FTW!)

most arent bashing just stating opinions. most ppl i know personally that buys customs socks really dont follow sneaker game as much. an are all under age of 21. js

I can dig it...

:smokin

I wear jeans/kakis most the time anyway so 15 year old kids wouldn't be able to know how "cool" my socks are hahah :smh:

People pay a premium for what others don't have, we're a small business, and we are just barely keeping up with the demand of our items at $40. Traditional business practices dictate that price should be raised when demand exceeds supply. One of our goals is to bring personality to socks whereas they became a staple of an outfit just as shoes have become. Custom shoe prices range from 2-3x that of the canvas shoe, which translates into our pricing strategy. We're always dropping contests and coupon codes, so that if we can't 100% win you over as a customer, we can at least win you over as a fan.

But a custom shoe just cant heat press the shoe 100's of times or make as many as they want. Custom shoes are more a 1 of a kind.

Development, conception, artwork, packaging, shipment, customer service on a grander scale....all done in house. We do custom 1 of a kind socks, which are at even more of a cost. If you only knew how complex our business is, and how much dedication we put into it. Again, if you cannot become a customer, we at least hope you will become a fan.

Custom shoes are one of a kind and the art and time is in the hand painted design. Manufactured ID pairs of Nike's are like 120% the price of a stock pair, not 3 times. How long does it take to heat press a sock, 2 minutes from when I've seen Nike do it at their world basketball fest in DC. Not sure how you can't keep up with demand if you can press a couple hundred per day. Nike should just ID socks if there actually is a big market for it. $20 instead of $15 and let users mix and match colors and patterns. They seem to be moving slightly towards customization with Kobe socks matching shoes and same with KD socks.

Don't understand the hate on RockEm. Some people are willing to pay that price, others aren't.

Let them cook.

I worked for a small business for 11 years now I still work here and I know a lot about how a small business works. I am not trying to knock you hustle or your business because you started something that no one thought of before.

I say there are atleast 5 things you mentioned about your business I do on a daily basis myself.

If you were comparing your price point of your 1 of a kind sock to 1 of a kind sneakers that would make sense but you didnt. You compared it to your mass produced lines.

I also know how the heat pressing procedure works and all the fun stuff that comes with that as well the meticulous details that go

into that.

I do appreciate some work that you guys have done especially on the Cork Socks you did

Mine is not hate I just don't like bad comparisons. I respect what the do. Just don't compare a Picasso to a poster was all I was really saying.

Not saying there artwork is bad but it is easier to replicate or make more of than a sneaker that is 99% of the time a 1 of a kind item

We don't have the resources that a company like Nike has, access to foreign labor being a major factor in the NikeID example. And even still you are bounded by the designs and color swatches Nike offers.

The secondary market is even higher for our custom items, some of our products go for crazy prices on eBay.

No offense taken in any of these comments by the way. Your feedback, negative or positive, helps us shape our decisions (especially pricing) in the future. Believe me, we're working on ways to get our prices down, but without having the quality of our presentation and product suffer (or offer more bang for your buck). Heck, the custom boxes alone cost a small fortune for our Cork release, of which almost 2 months was spent doing product research, market testing, protypes etc. It's not as cut and dry as other companies who do this make it seem, we're not just taking a google image of michael jordan winning a gold medal and putting it on a sock, there's more to it.

Thats what I like about your designs they compliment shoes instead of copying the design of the shoe and make it look like you are wearing a boot.

Thank you.

Here is an in-game shot of our socks, which were on ESPN nationally televised. It's been reported that Bill Self was in outrage over his team not being in our custom Nike Elite Socks.

Have/will you sponsor other colleges?
You know it! There have been a ton of schools contacting us that we've been locking in for next year, a lot of this years teams depend on the available stock they have for us to customize. Every team so far that has worn them contacted us, which is incredible. We're working with UCF to have a cool promotion this weekend. We'll post more information later in the week.

So far this year, Army has worn our socks vs. Navy. Iowa State wore them vs. Kansas. UCF wore them vs UM, all of which were nationally televised. We've done countless commissioned 1 of 1's for NCAA Athletes in which we're not allowed to reveal until they are not students anymore...but it should be revealed soon once the NBA Draft nears

High School teams love our socks as well, we've done a ton of custom orders for teams. We sponsor 3 teams, 2 in Orlando (one of which is playing in the state final four right now) and 1 in Maryland (powerhouse DeMatha, who also wore our socks on ESPN). We head out to the kids' games, sometimes even get to speak to them as a team and one on one, just trying to help guide them in the right direction with regards to sport and life. We're really dedicated to making a positive impact on our community, be it local or even national. Deeper than socks.

read "this is a great tax write off"

haha, but no seriously, good moves, i saw this happening the moment elites became cool, great way to capitalize

do you guys have any copyright issues though? or do you guys have an account with Nike?

Love what you guys are doing with the socks and the business. Keep doing what you're doing, let the haters hate.
Thanks bud, we appreciate it.

Actually...never even thought of the tax purposes. Time to contact our accountant though...

We also do fantastic work with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. A family member of mine played for Kay Yow's sister in college, and our friends work at the fund. Every October we raise money for the fund (over $5,000 raised since 2011) through some type of custom item. We've got great plans for this year.

We don't flirt with copyrighted material. No logos unless use of permission is granted. No account with Nike either, however we're exploring that avenue.

well then how do you guys get through with doing so many units using Nikes name with no licensing?

Thank you.

Apparently Bill Self isn't aware that his team is sponsored by Adidas.

I'm pretty sure you guys inspired Nike to do there own thing with their socks now. All the crazy designs and screenprinting on their limited socks like at this past ASG.

Thank you.  I was looking for the Blue Sequalizer Elite Socks, but after what you just told me, I'll just wait.
