I love that UMVC3 boxart. One of the best.

Ryu is the face of Street Fighter. A bit like Scorpion and MK.
With a roster of 16 to start, I think only he was guaranteed for the statue but I would have loved it to be Ken or Bison since they've had the most changes.

I get that. But they don't have to shove him in your face for every single SF release because he might not be everyone's favorite character. They can still have him in the front, just include more characters like on that UMVC3 cover.

I hope they have several versions with figures of at least 3 other characters.

Oh you're talking about the Boxart. I thought you meant the Statue.

Well, both.

Look at that picture of the Collector's Edition above: Ryu is on the cover of the box that holds the disc, then there's the statue of Ryu and yet another picture of Ryu inside the big box. You'd think that he was the only selectable character and that the game was only about him, like Nathan Drake in Uncharted or something.

Yea, they could have done better. I like the boxart for its simplicity since the others are usually crowded but you're right in that they they missed out putting some of the new or redesigned characters.

Someone like Necalli would be perfect on the box

Ryu is just like goku and pikachu. He's been the poster boy for so long that even people who have never played or watched instantly know who it is. The only reason he's number 1 for everything is that same recognizable look he's had forever. Dudes the coca cola of SF.
 
The bearded Ryu should have been the initial look of Ryu for SFV. Just like how they gave Bison grey hair and changed the way Ken and Birdie looked. Would have been dope

Agreed. It's like they're unaware of how boring they make Ryu every new iteration.

^yeah, bisons rush down game is kinda trash in 5. He had more options in Ultra 4. Wake up game is non existent too.

I actually think he might get nerfed :lol:
Not sure about his wake-up game but he's a beast in V trigger mode. His dash teleports and tricky devil's reverse are a problem and his ultra is too versatile
I don't see many people using the Psycho Inferno either.

Bison's V-trigger is so gimmicky. He's still weak in 5, IMO.

The rest of the cast have target combos and can combo/link into anything, and Bison can't. His scissor kick pressure is trash too. I loved him in 4.
 
I think he's just a lot different to 4 with things like his roundhouse and psycho crusher missing but his pressure game is still good IMO especially in V trigger.

I haven't played as him though I can't really talk but
