STREET FIGHTER

What did you say to get the code?

Just asked if its too late to get a code for Ryu code and dude was searching around and said this the 1st day release game. Code might be inside. So I opened and nothing and told him I got nothing then he had a ripped receipt with the code and told me whoever pre ordered didn't want the code so gave me that.

That's what up.. :nthat:

Is it worth opening? I got it but haven't opened it.. I'm hearing bad things.. Is it true?

I'd miss the cash more than the game. I got it free (PC version) Was highly dissapointed. This thread is barely moving since the game has released. It's def not from every member playing non stop. Hate to be negative. Even seasoned SF players are gonna put this down after the honeymoon feelings for this game are over. SFIV was so much better at release.

You guys can't be serious. I haven't played SF5 yet but as a hardcore SF player/fan I feel like you guys a prematurely judging this game. It looks absolutely amazing, it looks like Street Fighter! It's barely been out for a full 24 hours.

Its a beautiful game to look at.. wait till you play it though. It feels hollow. Time is irrelevant for this fighter. The only unlocks are costumes. You can play with your fav character till your blue in the face... Just wait for the honeymoon to pass..

Edit: i googled reviews. Kotaku said it best. http://kotaku.com/street-fighter-v-the-kotaku-review-1759416274

Part of that was the hype though. SFIV was the first new SF in forever. People were thirsty for it

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't play fighting games for the single player content. But if that's the main motivation driving your potential purchase, this game isn't for you. Not yet at least.

Kotaku is the last place I'd check for recommendations on fighting games. They cater to a different audience. Look at the comments. It's nothing but people complaining about fighting games being too difficult and how it's no fun losing all the time. Polar opposite of the reaction the game is getting on devoted fighting game sites. There's nothing but bubbling excitement for all the tech that's being found (and ragging on server issues).

The honeymoon phase thing seems like a stretch as well since it's been publicly playable since the betas kicked off in october.

So iono. Sucks you aren't enjoying it, but I'm kinda glad you aren't since you bootlegged it.

Heard Street Fighter 4 is better than 5, that's pretty sad...
And people said the same thing when 4 came out that it was rubbish compared to third strike. Making fun of focus attacks etc..

7 years later and look at SFIV's legacy.

In this case the honeymoon phase would be the worst actually.
The game was brought out early because the Capcom Pro Tour kicks off in a couple weeks so it's light on content but I haven't seen any reviews that criticize the gameplay. In fact that's where the most praise comes from.

We've already seen the schedule for the rest of the year. The game is only going to get better just like SFIV.

I was expecting the game to get slaughtered but it didn't because the gameplay is good and those who played in the beta or watched some tournaments know this game isn't boring at all.

As for reviews they're all pretty much like this:

Pros

+ Amazing visuals, characters, music, and stages make this feel exactly how a brand new numbered Street Fighter game should.

+ Gameplay is fun, with the new mechanics that make Street Fighter 5 feel fresh and not like a simple USF4 extension.

+ Netcode feels strong right now. Cross-country and international connections held up nicely.

+ Free content coming soon.

Cons

- Street Fighter 5’s story mode at launch is short and lacking in several areas.

- Current game is limited in features.

Please forgive me for wanting a little more. I guess I've been spoiled by Mortal Kombat. I did not go into the game knowing that it was going to be virtually all online. Of course the servers are ****. Nobody saw that coming...... Bad idea by Capcom though.. I knew my spidey sense was right when I saw no Sagat, DLC character coming out a month after launch, and no Xbox One release(till Capcom see's units not moving and completes the game). I'll wait, hopefully many of the issues will be fixed and I'll purchase then. Amazon is gonna discount this game half off in a couple months.

Edit: I love SF. Grew up playing it like many of you. I'm not hating just to troll like most of NT. I just don't appreciate being told I'm getting a three course meal when it's an merely an appetizer. An appetizer I cant even properly eat because of the servers. This release seems purely like it was made by hardcore SF fanboys for hardcore SF fanboys. Which is why I mention "honeymoon" for us average SF folk.

Gameplay-wise, the game is fun. Very fun. Matter of fact, I actually like it better than 4.
Visuals are stunning.

Here's where I'm disappointed, single player content. I get it, Street Fighter is meant for people to play with people, but I prefer practicing against a computer before I play against a person. That's just me. I wanna get a good feel before I'm comfortable enough to go up against a human. The fact that right out of the box, I can't get access to Challenge Mode until March tells me this game is unfinished.

Was having the same feeling as i was just playing it. Even the "Story mode" is a joke. i mean the cut scenes are pretty cool and they are actually telling a story. but just ~3 matches per character and they are only one round? Plus the difficulty is on super easy mode. I don't know maybe i'm missing something.

I just got the ps4 for this game so i'm new to the system. So to play people online now i can only do it through playstation plus? and thats a monthly fee?

I was used to the free ps3 online play.

Got my steelbook edition yesterday. The game kind of feels unfinished, like it needs more modes and features.

I know these will be coming in the future, but because more of them aren't available from the start, Capcom have shot themselves in the foot because this obviously had a negative influence on the review scores and it's the review scores that will be a huge factor when the average consumer decides to buy the game or not.

Nah it's fine for expecting more

The game has to connect online so it can validate you getting fight money which you can use to buy DLC with. AFAIK, no other fighting game allows you to get DLC for free.

Servers are messed up but they should be fixed now or soon.

I don't see not having Sagat, DLC a month after launch or No Xbone release as a problem though. Sony part funded the game and the Capcom Pro Tour prize money so it's never going to be on Xbox.

The game is definitely going to get better but would you rather be able to play the game now and wait for those other features or prefer the game launch later with all that included.
I fall into the former camp because I know the core game play which is online and local versus is there and because I follow the FGC, I know the game needs to be out before the Pro Tour starts and I enjoy watching the tournaments but others will fall into the latter which is fine because they want a fully featured game at launch.

PS4 online needs PS+ so yea you will need to get that to play online

It was definitely a risk releasing it early but there was no choice really. It's not been that bad regarding reviews (For now). It's metacritic was the same as MKX last I saw. I was expecting worse to be honest.

User reviews on the other hand are low but that would be temporary.

We'll see how it pans out
