It's good to see there are more fans of the game that loved it as much (if not more) than I do. I had a subscription to the Official Dreamcast Magazine (the one that came with the demos of upcoming games) at the time, and remember Shenmue almost getting a 10 out of 10 rating. In addition, I remember Yu Suzuki saying in interviews that he initially intended for Shenmue to be a 16 part epic. If nothing else, I want to see what turns the story would take, because I doubt it would simply end with Ryo defeating Lan Di.

White tee, Blue jeans, Tiger jacket... check. Got that allowance every morning, headed out looking for some sailors and Tom Johnson.
One of the reasons why DC was the greatest systems off all time. That, and Phantasy Star Online. Epic.

with redone graphix

GOAT single player game imo
As much as I LOVED this game at 15 years old. This junk was so over-rated. Got boring fast and def didn't live up to pre release hype. That said, the story was always piff and the free roam was so ahead of its time.

It's funny this thread got bumped because i was thinking of this game a couple days ago. I even used to record my live game play on a video cassette.
Off topic though. How the hell did Ryo have a Sega Saturn in 1986?!
