Huh?

Joe Cornish wrote "The Adventures of Tintin" which was surprisingly dope and "Hot Fuzz" which was entertaining.

I feel like Edgar Wright would have made a memorable Ant Man movie. It will be interesting to see who they get to replace him and what style the director is known for.

That's interesting. Can't say I was ever completely hyped going off it being a Wright film and not that anything else hyped me up for it but I was interested just cuz they gave the movie a green light and it was coming out after Avengers 2.

The statement reminds me of when writers end up leaving a comic early or before it even releases.

Marvel is too hands on. Reminds me of the Norton rift all over again and what they did to the movie they allowed him to pen.

Came in here getting ready to brag about how DoFP blew away all my expectations and was amazing

But I just read the Edgar Wright news :x :x :x :x :x :smh: holy **** :x

But on a lighter note, I'm thinking Joss Whedon might have to do some reshoots on his Quicksilver for A2 after seeing this film. Quicksilver in DoFP was MOVIE MAGIC!

Edgar Wright hasnt done any movies I thought were super spectacular. Doesnt mean that the new guy cant be a downgrade. I wanna see who the new guy is first before I question Marvel

I'm betting Joss Whedon won't even watch DoFP until he's done with post-production and editing for A2 so he doesn't get influenced. Don't think he's worried though.

Just because he doesn't have anything super spectacular doesn't mean that it should be glanced over. Marvel wants their puppet.

But if the new guy is better (or just as good) then what do I care. Imo shouldnt be hard. I thought he directed Planet Terror. Turns out he didnt. Looking at his director credits I truly don't care that he is gone. Hot Fuzz is not enough to carry him.

I know you guys like Scot Pilgrim but I thought it was one of the worst movies I ever seen. But I will admit that him being the director was the best part about the film.

I haven't seen the worlds end.

He is truly just average to me at his best. Nothing that he has done would make me want him to do a big budget Marvel film.

Don't know if I've already said it here when it was brought up but Eden Sher is ugly as ****. Looks like a failed clone of the chick that played Blossom.

Eh, Marvel wants things done a certain way. Deal with it or jump ship. Until they start releasing crappy movies I'm not gonna complain or doubt them. End of the day it's there property.

Pretty sure Whedon, Black, Gunn, etc. would laugh at you calling them Marvel puppets.

Marvel doesn't get a pass for that. They threw Howard under the bus and pushed Norton out among other gripes just to get their way. I could care less if Whedon laughed. His record is spotty. Avengers was average at best and Agents of SHIELD is a complete joke that got a second season because Disney needed to save face. Marvel isn't flawless. Far from it. If a director doesn't want his vision impeded he has that right to step away. WB let Hack Snyder and Nolan do them. Why can't Marvel?

Actually agree with this. I feel whedon and marvel are taking the easy route with these films to be honest and i like every marvel film to date. Disney is seeming to keep every film be like...conservative. If that makes sense.

You're right Marvel doesn't get a pass but I haven't really missed either of those guys.

So a studio wants to have control over a franchise they pay hundreds of millions if not billions for? The nerve of those people. :rolleyes

Well...it always seems to knock a movie, that big, down a few pegs when a new director is brought on right before filming is supposed to start.

That's what happened to First Class and X3.

And Edgar Wright isn't average. He's pretty good. His style and tone and characterizations are really strong, imo.

Average is Brett Rattner or Tim Story.

Joss Whedon didn't do AOS. His brother did.

I got over the Norton thing. I take it as both sides had a beef. Norton may come off too controlling given he re-wrote the script several times. Marvel may just be dumb for not wanting to deal with such a great actor bringing those possible extra issues again for Ruffalo.

Howard who?

Marvel will get a pass for me as long as they keep churning out the good movies. They're not flawless but right now they're the best out. Marvel definitely lets directors do their own thing. See Cap2, IM1, etc. but letting directors do them doesn't guarantee the best movie. Please don't cite WB as an example of anything  MOS is a struggle story wise and Nolan has enough rep to get carte blanche despite the TDK trilogy not being as great as ppl claim it is.

Like I said, end of the day these are Marvel's characters not the directors.

I'm not even sure I'd put Rattner as average, outside of the Rush Hour franchise (which kept going downhill film after film) he hasn't really done anything good. X3, Tower Heist, Red Dragon, After the Sunset, etc...

lol. They pay $170M ish a movie + marketing. They can micromanage the film if they damn well please. Not like Wright was paying for it.

Seems like these negotiations where in place for a min.

Also meh. It can't be worse than someone doing a film different than how you intended it to be

I don't think Wright was any better than either of those two, just more artsy.

EDIT: NVM I'd rank Wright above ratner but not by too much.

MOS was could of been great had the editing been better

A linear storyline would of been 100x better.

I've always wondered if someone edited it and put the scenes in the right order and how it would look.

Similar to 500 Days of Summer, kind of curious if there is a vid out there where the scenes were in chronological order, I'd love to watch that.

I would post a certain gif . Like Nolan who's trilogy is overrated, Marvel can do no wrong. They haven't had duds? Iron Man 2 and 3 and both Thor films weren't good movies. They did well at the box office, but they weren't good.

Howard is Terrence Howard. They made the excuse of him wanting more money when he himself that was never the case.Doesn't matter because Rhodes was an afterthought personality wise in the latter two films.

Whether Joss is directly involved with AoS doesn't take away from the fact that this show has his style all over it which is probably why his fanboys on the Internet have given it a pass it doesn't deserve.
