Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan Developing Cinematic Universe for Classic Universal Monsters

Way back in October of last year, before their amicable split, screenwriter Roberto Orci hinted that he and partner Alex Kurtzman were trying to envision of a way to bring all of the classic Universal monsters together to form a cohesive cinematic universe, not unlike what Marvel and DC have done. Today, almost nine months later to the date, Deadline reports that Kurtzman and “The Fast and the Furious” producer Chris Morgan will be spearheading this effort going forward.

The first film in the series will be the upcoming reboot of The Mummy, which is already set for release on April 22, 2016. Another title previously attached to this idea was a reboot of the “Van Helsing” franchise, which had Tom Cruise attached to the title role. What films would you like to see in the Universal Monster Cinematic Universe?

Featuring the likes of Dracula, The Invisible Man, Frankenstein’s monster, The Wolfman, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Universal released countless films featuring these and many more monsters from the 1920s to the 1950s. Though some of them did crossover in a number of films, namely Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein and House of Dracula, there was never a longstanding narrative on this scale featuring the monsters previously.

I like the idea of it, but the actual chance at pulling it off, I'm skeptical.

I saw a gif of her walking topless. Didn't know she showed the lower body. Will check it out.

JL vs XMen Movie?

We Could Still Have An X-Men Vs. Justice League Movie…

It transpires that the company 21st Century Fox has not been able to successfully buy Time Warner for $80,000,000,000. Such a deal would have seen the company add HBO, Warner Bros, CNN – and of course DC Comics -to its portfolio of companies including Fox News, 20th Century Fox and much more.

The offer for $85 a share in cash and stock was rebuffed but it is likely that Fox will try again according to the New York Times.

If such a deal went ahead CNN would have to be sold over competition worries.

And for comic book fans, given that Fox likes to put out projects such as Aliens Vs Predator, could an X-Men Vs Justice League be too far long in the pipeline?

The movie universe X-men would get bodied by Justice League

Justice League in the movie universe will most likely consist of:

Supes
Batman
WW
Cyborg
Aquaman
Green Lantern
Flash

I like the way Ultron looks.

Don't care too much about Captain Falcon, but am interested to a point where Marvel plans on taking this new story arc.

Joe Quesada just appeared on the Colbert Report to announce our new Captain America, but there's a lot more going on too -- EW have revealed that Sam Wilson taking over the Cap mantle is only one of the big changes coming our way in the pages of Marvel Comics. The plan is to roll out a third wave of the Marvel NOW! initiative this fall, with Iron Man, Captain America and Thor all getting new #1 issues, and more focus being placed on the likes of Doctor Strange, Ant-Man and Scarlet Witch who are all set to appear in upcoming Marvel Studios movies. Also, as you can see from the image below, it would seem that Angela is not the new female Thor as we'd thought. The site report that a renewed focus will also be placed on Medusa, Inferno, Deathlok and the Winter Soldier, with more than ten titles (not all necessarily solo) already in the planning stages.

Renewed focus was already on Medusa and Inferno. They just ****** up the comic. Issue 3 comes out either this week or the one after next. They average an issue every couple of months it seems like. I've been a fan of Inhumans so I hope they get their act together.

Anyway i don't Thor's breastplate looks weird to me.

Also Jason Aaaron said in an interview that there are a few likely candidates for the new Thor in Thor: God of Thunder. IDK who it would be since these things come out far too far apart for me to keep track of background characters.

I don't like IM in the comics but I am always interested in new armor :nerd:

EDIT: Which artist is that top pic btw?

New Thor can't be human w/o special powers though, right?

I know you don't need much strength to carry Mjolnir if you're worthy but Thor actually had super strength and invulnerability himself, Mjolnir does not provide him that. Thor also gets to fly by being pulled/carried by the hammer so a regular female would just break her arm off after a few flights, right? I haven't really kept up with Marvel mythos much the past few years (likely a decade by now) but it seems like the wielder of Mjolnir has to have more than a regular humans strength and invulnerability or else she'd just have to go against street thugs who wields nothing but knives. I know that's a reach but my question does make sense, right? At the end of the day Mjolnir is a weapon you wield, even the current Thors limitations comes from his own physicality and will along with being an Asgardian and the "madness" within him shall we say?

IDK. Should "posses the powers of Thor" according to the hammer. I've seen Young Thor summon lightning when he wasn't worthy but Mjolnir gives you the ability to do that as well. Beta Ray Bill was given lightning powers with Mjolnir

I always thought "possess power of Thor" just meant the wielder can use Mjolnirs powers like summoning lightning and flight along with the other offensive and defensive attributes it has like shooting out energy blasts and absorbing attacks. Does it actually grant super strength though? As in if the human wielder of Mjolnir has it they can all of a sudden lift a mountain or be bullet proof? I guess Mjolnir grants force fields when it in hand but does that make the wilder vulnerable when the hammer is away? Because Thor can go toe to toe with almost anyone even without Mjolnir.

…the Vision, a synthetic, superpowered human designed by Ultron to show he has the power to create life too. (Did we mention Ultron has major daddy issues?) The Vision will be portrayed by Paul Bettany, who has already been a part of the Marvel movie universe as J.A.R.V.I.S., the Siri-like artificial intelligence who serves as Tony Stark’s laboratory side kick.

'True Blood' actress to star in Marvel's 'Daredevil'

A True Blood actress has found her next gig, and it’s a big one: Deborah Ann Woll has landed the female lead in Marvel’s upcoming Daredevil series, sources say. With HBO’s vampire drama coming to a close this year, Woll has signed on to play Karen Page in the Netflix-distributed series.

In the Daredevil comics, Page is the longest-running love interest of Daredevil’s alter ego Matt Murdock, having been introduced in the series’ first issue. The character was briefly glimpsed in the Daredevil film, but this is the first time she’ll be actively portrayed on screen.
