What Is GLASS CEILING, And What Does It Have To Do With The Spider-Man Movies?

We heard that Sony has plans for a female Spidey character to get her own movie, but what if the plans were for all the Spidey characters to come together in one movie? That's the premise of the project they're calling Glass Ceiling (likely not the actual title) - a team-up movie that would bring the female Spidey characters together.

There are not a ton of female superheroes that would be part of the Spider-Man package. The ones that spring immediately to mind are:

The Black Cat

Silver Sable

Spider-Girl

Silk

It's not really clear if Spider-Woman is part of the package, but I suspect she is. It's also possible that Firestar, who was created for the Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends cartoon, is part of the movie package. Black Cat, of course, is a cat burglar who has the power to give other people bad luck. Silver Sable is a gun-toting mercenary.

Spider-Girl and Silk are much lesser-known characters, with Silk being brand new. It turns out she was also bitten by the same spider that gave Peter Parker his powers, and so she's a Spider-type as well. Spider-Girl is a character from an alternate universe. Speaking of alternate universes: the upcoming Spiderverse event, which sees every iteration of Spider-Man coming together (yes, even the 1970s TV version) could be introducing female variants on characters who would end up belonging to Sony.

Is Glass Ceiling actually going to happen? It's one of the ideas that Sony has been kicking around. As I've said before, I don't think Sony even knows what they're doing, so claiming that this is actually happening is incredibly premature. It's an idea that's out there.

Wow, SONY should just license out all of their good ideas to Marvel. None of their ideas sound bad it's just the end product. I'm rarely ever satisfied with their execution.

All villain movie (S6)? Cool, solo villain/anti-hero movie (Venom)? Cool, female solo movie? cool, female team? cool. Not only are they good but they're pretty much firsts among all of the other studios doing superhero movies and if they had their **** together they'd be the first to get them to screen too.

I'd like to see Spider-Woman, Silver Sable, Firestar, and Black Cat as a team coming together all Avengers like. I'd cut Spider-Girl, not sure about Silk depending on how they do Spider-Woman's powers.

Too bad that last little bit is on point about SONY

So I'm guessing the canceling their other plans aren't confirmed, eh?

Channing Tatum’s ‘X-Men’ Character ‘Gambit’ Spinoff Moving Forward


EXCLUSIVE: In a move that makes official that the X-Men character Gambit is getting his own spinoff movie with Channing Tatum as the card-savvy protagonist, Fox has set Robocop scribe Josh Zetumer to write the screenplay. The studio has officially attached Tatum as star, and to produce with his Free Association partner Reid Carolin, The Donners Company’s Lauren Shuler Donner, and Genre Films’ Simon Kinberg.

The screenplay will be based on a treatment penned by legendary Marvel Comics writer Chris Claremont, who with Jim Lee created the character for Marvel in 1990. The storyline is being kept under wraps. The character, which also goes by the name Remy LeBeau, has the ability to charge matter with volatile kinetic energy, causing the object in question to explosively release its charge on impact. The character materialized in a short burst in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Rob Liefeld Says Ryan Reynolds Is Deadpool And Cable Is Coming[/COLOR]

During an appearance at Comikaze 2014 this weekend, Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld talked briefly about the upcoming Deadpool movie. He also addressed the possibility of Cable appearing on the big screen.

Liefeld said, “Following Wolverine 2009, the Donners called me into their office and said, ‘Rob, we want to meet and talk to you about Deadpool, since we’re spinning it off. We know we made some missteps, and we want to get it right.’ So I sat there with a bunch of producers, and we sat for several hours, and we talked about different ideas. And I tried to steer them in directions I think. For instance, I’ll tell you, first question they said, ‘Rob, does Cable need to be in the Deadpool movie?’ And I said, ‘No, Deadpool deserves his own function and Cable should come in in his own movie.’ And they were like, ‘Ok, because we were thinking about…’ And I was like, ‘No, you can do them both separately. They don’t need to be in the same movie.’ Look, we had a long talk, we had some ideas, I can’t share them, some of them made it across the finish line.”

Liefeld continued, “And then, they were brilliant and hired the Zombieland writers. Those guys are fantastic. I went to see Zombieland like five times in the theater. I was like, ‘This is genius.’ And the Deadpool script is fantastic. Three years ago, the director Tim Miller, he came to me four years ago, three years ago he goes, ‘Rob, I want you to come up and see what we’re doing.’ And he showed me all the pre-prep work. And then, Ryan Reynolds is pulling up to film this scene that day. And I’m like, ‘Oh, my gosh, what is happening?’ Cut to that footage is in the locker for three years…three years, and god bless whoever leaked that. Whoever leaked it and goes to jail, we need to cheer them. That movie is happening, as that guy goes in cuffs, because the Fox guy told me, ‘Rob, we have computer forensics. We will find that person.’”

When asked if Ryan Reynolds would be Deadpool, Liefeld responded, “Ryan is Deadpool. Look, Ryan Reynolds, he’s gone through that same career arc, the guy is ridiculously talented. He has a huge, huge passion for Deadpool. Deadpool’s not happening, because he was a giant star, they said, ‘Ryan, what do you want to do?’ And he said, ‘Deadpool.’ That’s why it happened. They would have no faith otherwise. That movie is because of his passion. He put together the team.”

In regards to the incredible trailer, Lieifeld said, “That’s nothing of what you’re going to see.”
