News On Future Films Based on Comics/Paranormal/Sci-Fi

Makes sense since the revamped Guardians had Nova closely working with them throughout their run.

I mean Nova was smashing Gamora during Annihilation war.

I do hope we get to see a teaser trailer of GotG soon...Hopefully, it'll be paired with Thor 2.

Doubtful I think. Thor is out in September right? I would like to see an end credits connection and possibly cameo at the end of Thor 2 though.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Gets A Leader For The Nova Corps, And It’s Glenn Close

Glenn Close has been cast in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy as the head of the Nova Corps.

We were discussing the film’s casting at the weekend, and at that point, Hugh Laurie, Ken Watanabe and Alan Rickman were all under consideration for a particular role. I’d expect, in fact, that it was this one.

John C. Reilly, if he signs on, will get to share scenes with Close as another member of the Corps.

In the comics, the head of the Corps. was Nova Prime. While the name might stick in the movie, a lot of the details will have changed.

Deadline are assuming that Close will be playing it tough, and that’s certainly something she’s done well before, but I wouldn’t be entirely sure, just yet.

Close was last on the big screen with Albert Nobbs, which was something of a passion project. Guardians is likely to be a rather lighter gig, both in terms of emotional commitment and shooting days, but I’m still pleased that Marvel made this match.

So those other male actors were all going for the same role but Glenn Close won it? That's kind of confusing unless she's going to be dressed up as a dude again.

^ Really not sure Rich is gonna be in it yet. If he is they might wait on revealing that. This movie could be the launching pad for a spinoff that leads to a Nova movie though. Like at the end of the movie the Nova corps is in shambles, new novas are needed and one of the helmets finds its way to Earth (if that happens they'll really need a better villain, Diamondhead aint cutting it).

That's what the person writing the article is speculating based on another article mentioning those other dudes were in the running for a role. So there's still a possibility we see Hugh, Alan, or Ken in the movie as somebody else.

Nah not really, if this is the case, it could simply be Marvel said hey lets make the leader a chick instead since Glenn Close is a bigger name than the other guys in consideration.

I didn't know this but Peter Dinklage is playing Bolivar Trask in X-Men DoFP? If true I kinda have to see the movie now and have some positive hopes for it. A great villain can do wonders and we all know Peter has the acting chops. If he just turns out to be Puck, ok cool.

Benicio Del Toro has joined the killer cast of the James Gunn-directed Marvel Studios franchise launcher Guardians Of The Galaxy. They are keeping his role under wraps, but he’s playing a character that is built to be part of future Marvel films, which means he has signed a deal with options that put him into multiple movies. It’s funny how when Marvel Studios first started making option-heavy deals, actors and their agents grumbled loudly. But guys like Samuel L. Jackson and Mark Ruffalo have done great stuff in short doses in incredibly high-profile films. Now, it will be intriguing to see what the company does with a property that doesn’t have the road-tested brand awareness of a Captain America, Thor, or Iron Man. I have to say that given the high bar for quality that Marvel has set under Kevin Feige — Iron Man 3 being the latest crowd-pleasing example — I’m more excited about this than the other space-based project Disney is banking on, Star Wars. Del Toro joins Glenn Close, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, John C. Reilly and others in the cast.
Gotta be Thanos right?

Benecio Del Toro as thanos will be great. Guardians of the galaxy could be everything it was always suppose to be if the cards play out right

Random, but the Resident Evil series is in desperate need of a reboot. These films are the only way that Paul WS Anderson and his wife Milla Jovovich will get any work in Hollywood.

Has it even been confirmed that Thanos is even the main villain in GotG? I know they said he will be there in some capacity but that could easily mean the same came role he had in the Avengers.

Why? I mean let's be honest, is anyone really going to miss this franchise? Even the game has pretty much sucked after the first 2 supposedly "revolutionized" the genre. After the second one, every other RE game has been living off of it, they have all been pretty much horrible. Story hasn't really gotten that much interesting either.

Resident Evil 4 is one of the greatest games of all time....but that's neither here nor there. RE movies, if they are ever rebooted need to go away for a while before that happens because those films have been terrible

RE 2 or 4, whichever it was, the series has practically lived off of the name and majority of them has sucked or just a rehash of the old ones.

So, if Benicio is Thanos, who was that in Avengers?

I thought Thanos was going to be CGI, to be honest, I thought damn near all those characters in GotG would be CGI, I'm starting to think I am mistaken.

far as I know only rocket and groot will be cgi. As for thanos the guy in avengers was just a placeholder to get him on screen, whoever plays thanos will probably do the whole thing in a mo cap suit like andy serkis

He's not the main villain and he doesn't have to be. He won't have the same little cameo he had in Avengers in GoTG. If they were planning that, they wouldn't need to cast anyone as Thanos.

He was cgi in Avengers cuz all he did was smirk  I think if they want Thanos more active casting as an actor would be best. All you need to do is paint him purple and give him skrull chin. His build is the only obstacle.

For Rocket and Groot I think they're just sticking to cgi. A human sized raccoon and even more human sized and looking tree wouldn't look right. I think they'll be fine with all cgi and getting actors to do the voices.

Most likely they'll use mocap and his voice but I hope they keep the design of him from avengers the same because he looked awesome. But at the same time thanos is such an iconic villain in the marvel universe I have doubts as to how he'll be portrayed on the big screen. I really thought marvel would've went for an infinity gauntlet sequel as opposed to an "avengers 2" but with all the copy rights tied into these marvel films I knew it wouldn't happen. I just really hope they don't mess thanos up because after this recent mandarin fiasco I don't fully trust marvel :frown:
