News On Future Films Based on Comics/Paranormal/Sci-Fi

DDL is probably too old anyways, especially if Marvel is considering Dr. Strange as an RDJ replacement and keep him for years/decade to come.

All I can say regarding DC is we'll really see if they got a plan depending on how good their Flash movie will be or how good Flash's portrayal will be when he shows up. They **** that up it's over.

A new GL is a no brainer imo but GL is probably not gonna be the huge draw until they gives fans the one they want and they approach it more like a sci-fi action/adventure on a much bigger scale.

I'd prefer a World's Finest movie over JL and really Batman doesn't need a reintroduction. His movie will do #s once it's announced. No reboot, just loosely tie it to the previous stuff.
DDL has the look but he would never do it
Depends how good the script is but I doubt it'll reach his standards. IF they did it'd be a wrap though.

This is true but the more ppl say this I wouldn't be surprised if DDL messed around and did a critically acclaimed role playing a teenager just to shut the naysayer up
They really got blindsided by The Avengers' success. Seems like they thought solo movies would do the trick, well it does in a way but The Avengers really changed the playing field so to speak.
They must've not been watching the solo Marvel movies to the end to catch the end credit scenes. There was so much hype due to those teases they probably made a billi if half the movie was them eating shawarma

Don't why I always pictured Orlando Bloom as Dr Strange.

Johnny Depp or Oded Fehr

That can work. I'm not opposed to a younger Strange (Bloom just looks younger than he is though). Could always magic away the explanation for the young body and just gray his temples, plus that way he lasts much longer.

Dunno if I've ever heard his American accent unless that was it in all of his movies

Yea, they ideally probably want someone in the early to mid 30's by the time the movie starts shooting. I was just throwing a name out and I'd love to see him and RDJ interact with each other on screen.

I think DC needs to branch out to their heroes, take risks but good risks. No GL-like films, not really sure how someone could watch that film and say, "hey, that is good, let's release that to the public!".

A good actor, decent director and screenwriter (hell steal some writers from Marvel, they haven't had a terribly bad film in a while) and a good to decent Flash and WW film couldn't be that difficult, could it? I mean I didn't think a Cap movie would work, but Marvel has done a good job with it. Same with Thor and IM.

I know that they passed on a WW script a while back by Whedon before he did Avengers. The premise sounded good. I'll try and find the article....might have been on IGN.

It's on SHH under Superhero films that were almost made. I made a separated thread on it here on NT too.

Vin Diesel says Marvel approached him. Take it for what its worth.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier co-director Joe Russo had a pre-taped video play at the conference where he said, “It’s going to be much greater than any Marvel movie to date.”

Fox also showed a video tour of the set for the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past with director Bryan Singer as the tour guide. He even revealed a little more about the film, "It takes place all over the world, including in Russia, China and Japan," Singer said (via The Hollywood Reporter). "So there will more of an international flair than the other films." The one country Singer didn't mention is France, which will apparently play a very large role in the film.

This shouldn't come as a major shocker to anyone familiar with the story, but some reasoning behind cutting Mary Jane:

Emma Stone’s character dies in the next film and that really would take a bunch out of the film if Spider-Man all the sudden starts dating a new girl so close to an important characters death. They were noticing this occurring as they filmed Shailene’s scenes. They want to make the death of Gwen Stacy really mean something and then it will leave room for Shailene to shine in the third film.

Not sure if this is good news: makes it sound like they're retooling the movie as they shoot.

Movies do that all the time

Some characters just end up on the cutting room floor

Not major characters, though. Then they gotta go back and alter scenes, dialogue, etc. to fit.

In this movie, Mary Jane may have just been introduced and used more as a background/cameo (setting up a more major role in the 3rd)... so yeah, it would be easy to cut her out if that were the case.

Sony Pictures to Make Captain Planet and the Planeteers Movie

Sony Pictures is in final negotiations to pick up the rights to 1990s series "Captain Planet and the Planeteers" for a feature adaptation to be produced by Mark Gordon, Don Murphy and Susan Montford, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Captain Planet will be a live-action motion picture based on the environment-saving animated hero. In an effort to inform younger viewers about serious environmental issues, Turner Broadcasting partnered with DIC Enterprises in 1990 to create the world's first animated environmental series, "Captain Planet and the Planeteers." The series was about a group of young people who combine their special powers (The Planeteers) to summon Captain Planet, an environmental superhero, to battle the world's worst eco-villains.
