News On Future Films Based on Comics/Paranormal/Sci-Fi

I was literally startled when I read this title just cuz he of all actors is interested and the idea of Marvel casting him

Mark Wahlberg Wants a Shot at Marvel’s ‘Iron Man’ Franchise
While in the United Kingdom promoting one comic-book adaptation, 2 Guns, Mark Wahlberg revealed he’s ready to take on another.

“I would like to take over the Iron Man franchise for Robert Downey,” he told Yahoo! Movies UK, “[but] it’s one of those things where I kind of like playing real people, [so] I’ve never been asked.”

Downey, who earned $50 million for The Avengers alone, signed a deal in June to appear in its two sequels but not in a potential fourth Iron Man movie. That means if Marvel Studios is interested in continuing its founding franchise, it’ll probably be shopping for a new Tony Stark around 2017 or so. Wahlberg is 42 now, about the same age Downey was when Iron Man began filming in 2007.

Wahlberg, who was reportedly offered the lead in the long-brewing Crow remake, had a brush with another comic-book property long before he was cast in 2 Guns: He apparently was among the names considered for the role of Robin in Joel Schumacher’s 1995 film Batman Forever, a part that ultimately went to Chris O’Donnell.

“Somebody dodged a bullet!” the actor joked. Asked whether he could’ve pulled off that snug costume, Wahlberg replied, “I ain’t wearing no tights man.”

Battle armor is another matter entirely.
I don't see it  :smh: but maybe it's cuz I recently saw Ted for the first time and right now after reading this all I can think of is Mark's facial expression in that crappy M Night. movie where the plants was killing everybody I forget the name.

This was the most awesome thing i saw today

This movie is gonna be huge. I miss the over the top Sci Fi movies from the 80s. Kids will eat this **** up, I mean you got aliens, superheroes, a raccoons they can't miss on this movie.

I can't really think of Mark as any hero really, maybe a villain. I can think of that other video game based movie he did, I think it was Max Payne or something like that, the movie was eh, but he gives a good idea of what he can do as an anti-hero.

His level of acting doesn't compliment a superhero flick well imo. It just screams dud if he were to do one. He'd have to really improve and be insanely dedicated and then have great writing and directing and behind him for things to be pulled off.

anyone think Marvel wasted Stringer Bell's talent? He should of been a another character in the marvel universe

They mentioned Due Date, but not The Soloist? It was a more compelling and serious movie than Due Date. It was also around the time of Iron Man, Tropic Thunder, and Sherlock Holmes when RDJ made his turnaround.

Because The Soloist was a bomb, both critically and commercially.

They can always use him again. Just gotta be the right role. You want him to be Panther? Doubt he can be Cage. Falcon is taken. There's just not that many great or good black superheroes and even villains. Very few with potential so you gotta take what's left and completely re-imagine them for the most part.

As for any other character sure but it'd have to be one worthy of bringing him back for each movie.

I always thought Mark Wahlberg would be a great Guy Guardner. Heck maybe he'd be a great choice for a new Ghost Rider.

Speaking of Marvel Knights and Marvel requiring the rights back for Punisher. Am I crazy? John Bernthal aka Shane from The Walking Dead make a great Punisher.

mind blown on shane

Yeah, good call on Shane. I can mos def see it. Might need to get a little more buff.

Only problem I see is that Bernthal is a good actor, a really good character actor it seems and while I don't doubt he can become Frank Castle I'm not sure that'd be best for him cuz he seems at his best when he's actually acting and talking. Not this stoic, grim, ruthless killer.

Don't think Marvel will bring him back when they do decide to use Punisher but I will say I really liked what Jane did with Punisher. It'd be cool if there was a Punisher cable tv series with him.

Commercially, I can see. It doesn't have the wide spread appeal that a comedy like Due Date would have, but it's still Due Date. It couldn't of been received worse than Due Date. There were aspects of The Soloist that I didn't like, but it was still enjoyable with endearing characters.

I just checked IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes out of curiosity and The Soloist was better recieved than Due Date by both critics and viewers. It might not of been a big money draw like Iron Man or Sherlock Holmes, but chronologically, it was right at the time of RDJ's comeback and it's definitely more important to the story of RDJ's comeback than Due Date.

Idris should be Black Panther or Blade whenever they decide to reboot it
He'd be pretty good for Panther but the way Marvel is casting, it may go to unknowns or newcomers. Maybe Chadwick Boesman (42) or Nate Parker (Red Tails).

Idris tho is perfect for John Stewart. His character in Pacific Rim was identical of what Stewart stands for in the comics.

honestly i want a younger guy for black panther.. so he can start out as a  prince, like in that avengers animated movie..

idris would be good as an established BP..

i think derek luke would be good for the role.. which is funny since idris is only 2 years older than luke

The most recent Punisher movie was one of the worst things i've ever watched. How the hell do some of these movie makers have jobs? It was so bad that it was funny.

I was surprised at how bad it was because Lexi Alexander directed Green Street Hooligans and I love that film.

Damn, KickAss 2 is being slaughtered by the critics (31% at RT), the director change must have made a huge difference.

Still seeing it at midnight tonight, just really surprised at the bad ratings, probably the biggest surprise for a comic book film this year after the butchered Mandarin.

Dammit. It was supposed to be the savior of summer movies for me. Best one i've watched so far was Star Trek and that was way early in the summer.
