News On Future Films Based on Comics/Paranormal/Sci-Fi

I wonder when Fox will just do a triple crossover with Xmen, Spiderman, and F4. The upcoming Xmen film already has a huge cast. I'd like to see the different groups get into a conflict about something and have a decent showdown. Spidey is Sony right? If so nevermind.

Yeah, Sony owns Spidey.

That F4/X-Men crossover aint far away though. I just don't see how they won't do it the way Avengers has rose to prominence and how they have had critical duds quality wise. It'll be their last ditch effort to try to make the most money possible off of these comic movies outside of the spinoff movies like X-Force.

^

Marvel isn't getting the rights to F4 back unless FOX gives it back. Same for any other rights they don't currently own.

FOX studios are going for a younger F4, not an old one. Hence, the young cast.

Also, we using youtube as a source now?
I'm pretty sure the only movie that needs to be given back is Spiderman. Sony permanently owns it now in exchange for more control over merchandise for disney. The rest is supposed to be after 6 (or 7?) years of non use which is why they no longer own DD and Elektra. If this flops in 2015 then Disney would have it back by 2022. But then again the F4 comics have sucked for a while now. Disney doesnt care for em either.

But that is just wishful thinking. There is an audience for ****** superhero flicks

Nah, FOX has the X-Men as long as they keep making movies. Simple as that. W/e the time of lapsing is doesn't matter cuz FOX isn't going to let that happen (unless suddenly superhero movies really all begin to tank constantly). Not really sure where you're getting your # anyway

It doesn't matter if the DOFP movie and X-Force spinoffs flop. All FOX has to do is reboot the franchise before the deadline. It takes nothing to wait 5 years and make another movie and all it really takes is them saying they have another Wolverine sequel in production for the deadline to get pushed back.

I mean Spidey was in production for the 4th and 5th sequel. Sony scrapped it and rebooted it a few years later. So it doesn't really matter if it flops next.

Rise of the Silver Surfer was in '07. That's 6 years now. I don't even think they got a script for this F4 reboot yet and they'll probably won't start going in to production until the middle of next year. Having a script doesn't mean much in pushing the deadline back, word to DD and Ghost Rider.

There are plenty faceless villains he could play imo. Hush, A member of the Court of Owls, Clayface, Black Mask as long as he gains or losses weight for the part i don't see why not
hanks said he aint tryin to gain weight for films anymore cuz he a diabetic now.
Dicaprio also reminds me of batman in all honestly and he lives his life like bruce wayne. Hes plowed half the victorias secret angrls already.
The Great Gatsby = Dicaprio Autobiography

That was my point |:

If they haven't started the movie within what I thought was 6 or 7 (I guess it is 5 then) years from the last movie it gets forked over. They don't have it forever. They dont even have to start filming in the 5th year (otherwise F4 would've reverted with the rest).

If I understood the Sony/Disney renegotiated deal correctly Sony has rights to Spiderman forever as long as Disney gets more control of merchandising. Or maybe it couldve meant Sony doesnt have to pay the royalty fees and Disney gets the merchandising rights.

Like I said I'm not sure where you're getting these #s from or where you read about the contract agreements between Marvel and FOX or SONY.

The Ghost Rider ip didn't have to wait the amount of years you're saying to revert back to Marvel. It happened like a year or two after the sequel. Sony basically gave it back to Marvel cuz the franchise wasn't a huge success.

Not sure where you heard that deal about Spidey either. Last I heard Disney adjusted their agreement about merchandise but nothing about Sony keeping Spider-Man forever.

I watched the first 3 episodes and was not feeling it at all so I stopped. But I am interested in the Flash and Black Canary episodes
Which are the best girls because they have the personality from when they were fat and had nothing else to offer.

I bet whatever happens in between lawrence's sheets is 10x better than what you are doing with that perfect 10 who thinks her naked body is god's gift to the world.
couldnt have said it better myself.

Lol wut? Did you forget to log in to your other screen name?

Grown men coming at me defending the honor of jennifer lawrence ugly *** and her sheets insulting my sexual activity?

Am i on a justin beiber message board?

You in this case means "you people", "all of you" etc. I dont give a **** about your personal sexual activity and even if it was aimed at you the comeback was weak

Does it surprise you that you can give something back early?

IDK what movie site it was that I heard 5 years of no activity but it wasnt a blog. Not going to spend time hunting the site down. And I am pretty sure it is more than one.

If what you are saying is correct why give any franchises back? Even if it flops and you dont use it there is no tactical advantage to giving a franchise back.

Exactly what part of my post infers being surprised?

Giving a franchise back is simply cutting your losses. You tried something different in a new arena. You failed according to your standards. You gracefully bow out.

I'm sure they did the #s and saw no tactical advantage to keeping the ip. So if you're not gonna make new movies and make money why waste time and wait for w/e made up years you wanna say for it to naturally revert while you're still not making money off it? I only see a ***** move like that being done out of spite. Like if Marvel or DC somehow ended up owning one of each other's characters but it was like a c-list hero that had no buzz whatsoever. Only then could I see such a situation being that petty.

If it's not a blog, I don't see how you'd have to hunt down that info. I mean you went from 7 to 6 to now 5. Sounds like speculation overall, especially that Spidey talk.

All I did was bring up IPs that didn't have to wait 6 or 7 years to revert. So far there hasn't been one # consistent for each IP. It seems it doesn't matter whether we're talking FOX or SONY.

When Daredevil reverted it had been more than 7 years until it happened (unless that trash Elektra movie is being counted as a sequel). Pretty sure it was 8 or 9 since we were talking about that DD sizzle reel last year (pretty sure it was last year) and then it was announced it reverted later that year.

Also I still highly doubt Disney agreed to any deal where Sony would keep Spidey forever (getting merchandising money aint enough). That's Marvel's most famous and most profitable IP.

After looking for that site I'll take your word for it since it would explain why Universal still has rights to Namor. IDK how shouldn't he be filed under X-Men?

Namor existed way before XMen and he isn't really part of the X-Universe.

He is one of the first 3 original Marvel heroes along with Cap and Human Torch (Hammond) iirc.

I know. But he is a mutant and been part of the X-Men universe for a while now. He is called Marvel's first Mutant because he is marvel's first printed comic to have a mutant in it despite not being known at the time.

I guess it doesnt matter in the movie universe but is their any interest in the character. Dont see how he could have his own movie. Its been forever since he has had his own comic due to lack of interest.

So are Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch and Falcon but they are all going to be in Marvel films.

Just because they are a mutant doesn't mean you are automatically and exclusively on the X-Universe.

Plus this has been discussed though never confirmed but we assumed the right starts to take effect when the film starts being made hence Deadpool being his own franchise didn't reverted back before Origins came out and talks of it returning hasn't been in discussion until recently because it is getting there in time since his last film appearance. So Namor, being his own franchise likely won't be in discussion or countdown of the rights reverting back won't start unless Universal actually starts doing something with him.

Point made

So there is a countdown. Do you know how many years it is?

That makes sense since they waited a while before making the X movies if I am correct and there was no talk of a countdown then.

I believe so but chances are, each franchise probably has different and unique contracts and rights. Like with Sony giving Marvel the merchandising for Spiderman in exchange of more of the franchises film rights. Details on that deal isn't clear but it could also mean Spiderman is with Sony for an unforeseeable future. So it is hard to legitimately say that all films have 5 years.

When Feige was asked about the Spiderman, XMen and F4 not being with Marvel, this was last year or so, this is what he had to say:

Well, look, clearly we would prefer everything be at home, so to speak. But all the contracts are different. Some of them have very firm reversion dates, and some of them we don’t expect to get back any time soon, let’s put it that way. We’re fine with that. We have a great relationship with Sony and Fox.

Take it for what it is but it seems like each right has their own contracts and limitations. Again, Marvel makes money off of these film (maybe not just on merchandising on Spiderman now or just a lot less?) w/o putting their own money at risk and Disney is heavily invested in their own stuff right now along with Star Wars and along with other projects so they should be very happy with where they are at.

I thought Hickman's run on F4 was pretty good. Hickman alone is a great write. I thought Fraction's run with F4 would be great...but it looks like he's already going to be off the title or is about to be off the title.

Also, this may have changed after the new deal with Disney/Marvel & Sony on Spiderman but everyone in the media seems convinced that Spidermans rights reverts back after 5 years of no films so i think that is why most assume every movie rights are the same way but it could very well be different.

Also, F4 seems to be just stalling and announcing where they are "planning" to film the movie even w/o a solid script or casting or director, seems like a ploy to say that the film is in production so it doesn't revert back because i'ts been 6 years of no F4 film but they do keep saying production will be filmed here but then it gets changed so the filming date also changes, etc...

That makes sense but lets not pretend disney couldnt come out with 20 films a year if they wanted to. Money is no problem for them.

That is exactly what I was thinking when the rest of Fox unused marvel franchises went back but F4 didnt.
The fact that they are even thinking of casting Michael B Jordan is an indication that they was a lack of available actors and they had no time to delay finding one.

They probably can't, there is a point where diminishing returns will hit you and they still likely have not recovered from flops like Lone Ranger and John Carter, films that cost in the 9-digits to make. Disney can't afford to keep coming out with films and going negative to making even or simply losing money on big budget films, at some point, you just have to sit back and let those that makes money for you do it's thing.

And their production capabilities are likely limited, you can only shoot so many films in so many locations before it becomes crowded, same goes with a cgi companies, etc... This is why studios only release a certain amount of films a year because the dates are limited and they do not want to compete with their own products. Hell people are going nuts on when Star Wars will come out because 2015 is so packed already and they'll either have to compete with other giant franchises or their own and obviously they want to put it in a position to succeed and make the most money possible.

Not to mention the increasing salaries of these actors as they become the faces of their respective franchise, RDJ just made about $100+mil in a year from them, Hemsworth, Evans, Scarlett, etc.. are all going to team up and hold out for more money too, likely not RDJ money but not the $500,000 (or less) they made in their first Marvel film.

Keep in mind that Disney just paid billions for Marvel and Star Wars as well, ~$8+bil for both, that is a lot of money they need to make back. If they are making money from those franchises w/o spending their own money and w/o any risks, then why won't they sit back while their production schedules are already packed?
