The Rock on his DC role

Johnson didn’t limit the discussion to Hercules, as he also tackled his attachment to a couple of storied DC Comics characters. When asked about his long-rumored role as Green Lantern John Stewart, he responded, “So, you know, there’s been mutual interest with myself and DC for many years to find the right character. I, like everyone here in the room, love superheroes. So there’s been mutual interest with us for years, and we’ve been having ongoing discussions, myself and DC, for years about the right character, what the right character would be. That’s another thing, too: It had to be right.”

When pressed for which role he was in talks to play, Johnson cryptically responded with three qualities of the character.

“The first quality we were looking for was that he had to be extremely complex and have a lot going on,” he said. “What that does for me as an actor and the studio is it gives us space that we can explore; his complexities.

“The other quality was that he had to – the character we were looking for had to be well-known but never brought to life. Then what that does again as an actor, it gives me a little bit of space, and we talked about personality. It just gives me a chance to put an imprint into his personality, with the set of tools that I could bring to the table and put a very unique twist on his personality, but still pay homage to who he is.

The third thing – and most important – is he had to be a badass ************, OK, and on a Superman level of power, where [he] could throw down. In those three qualities, I’m happy we’ve found that character.”

I'm getting a Martian Manhunter vibe off of those quotes. Who else could it be? I don't know how I feel about that though.

Hercules looks good :pimp:

Man that Hercules trailer has me hyped :pimp:,looks a lot better than I expected

That's the kind of Hercules film I want to see, still can't believe that other one was even made earlier this year

Hercules :smokin
Looking like it will have 300 like action and effects :nerd:

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

But at the same time I can't wait to see how laughable Cable is. Bryan singer will be like "We decided to ruin this character because a psychic with a metal arm and face could not exist in real life. So we took away the metal arm aspect, so it can be realistic."

Speaking of Shazam,I think that he'd be perfect and even spot on as Black Adam

Completely agree and I have no idea about anything in that comic except that it is magic and the main character is a kid.

only thing that kills it for me if they make him black adam is
i know that they gonna defeat him by having him say his name
and he gets hit by lightning
and then he dies from his old age
after being transformed into his former self
which to me is a cop out

I don't think they'll make the Rock a villain and have him die in the end, dude is a franchise actor so it'll be a waste to just have him for one film. I guess they can make Black Adam an anti-hero in a way Sinestro has somewhat become an anti-hero and then make a solo film about him?

Though he won't be GL for sure.

Myself & DC have agreed on a character.. extremely complex, well known (but never played) and a pure BAD *** MF:wink: #RockTalk .@ThomasEspin

Craig Fitzpatrick @CFitzyy
@TheRock Heard a while back that you're considered for the role of The Green Lantern. Any truth to this rumour? #RockTalk

Green Lantern (John Stewart) and Black Adam are my fav superheroes, but GL's already been made and stamped. #RockTalk @CFitzyy

Definitely not out of the realm of possibility. He really is the only one outside of Shazam and GL that can throw down with Superman and Shazam isn't really considered a bad m-f'er, I guess I wouldn't put that namesake on Martian Manhunter either but he is less of a boy scout than Shazam.

Can't be Hawkman or Aquaman. COuld be Firestorm but dude isn't a known JL member and he would seem out of place and random. I'm just thinking of JL member by the way but they could go any route at this point. Lobo fits the bill too if he isn't going to be part of the JL.

Hold up.

The studio agreed to fund the movie, provided that the Rock agreed to star in multiple capacities in the film, portraying Hercules, his father Zeus, and Achilles (in preparation for a possible spin-off franchise).

:nerd:

And X-Men: The Last Stand/Shrimp Juice Ratner directed this...

...

And Rock would be a good look for Aquaman. Always thought he should play Namor, and he'd be the only way audiences would watch an Aquaman movie.

But still.

Nah, Cyborg can't go toe to toe with Superman.

What if they just make The Rock play Darkseid?

Really wished his story during villains month was much better like Thanos Rising was, then we'd be more compelled to see an origin story for him.
