News On Future Films Based on Comics/Paranormal/Sci-Fi

I've spoken plenty in the Star Wars thread, but it is real, REAL, possible to have a different Star Wars film come out EVERY year.

For about 50 years really.

Not even close to kidding. Now, they likely won't go the route I am saying, but if they were to use the expanded universe (books, comics, video games) they could EASILY do a film a year. As an example

Regular cannon Star Wars 7 2015
2016 a Boba Fett solo film
2017 Star Wars 8
2018 Yoda film
2019 Star Wars 9
2020 Boba sequel
2021 Vader film
2022 Yoda sequel
2023 X-Wing film
2024 Star Wars 10
2025 Vader sequel
2026 Star Wars 11
2027 Old Republic film
2028 X-Wing sequel
2029 Star Wars 12
2030 Old Republic sequel
2031 Darth Maul film

It can go on, and on and on and on and on and on and NEVER, lose steam. Ever. Half a billion a movie in sales, and that's me lowballing it.

There are infinite writers that would love to get in on it, directors, actors, and Disney would still have the Marvel universe printing money at the same time, they have literally zero risk in doing something like that.

If they even approach what I'm saying here, Disney is flat out printing money for the next few decades. Insane amounts.

I talked about this earlier. People didnt care much. You better believe marvel will milk this franchise for what it is worth tho

Whats the status and situation on the Star Wars franchise right now? Seems like it is moving slow and factual reports are scarce. All I really remember is that Abrams will direct the main film but other infos on casting and other directors for the rest of the solo films seems real sporadic.

Director wants diversity but that don't sell. They aren't moving on much because of this people have been cast tho can't remember who. Still on track for the Dec 2015 release date it looks like

That's the machine talking to you. :nerd:

If they can find themselves a Feige...which they may have, because even though JJ and Kurtzman and Orci regularly ruin things like ADD kids with overactive imaginations and no guidelines...the Star Wars world is probably the perfect place for that kinda creativity and energy. I mean, JJ seems like a superfan, there's really no place but up for the Star Wars movies, and there's really no rules, except don't Lucas it, right?

Like...find people who can act, and let them. More action, less politics. More fun, less emo. I'm cautiously optimistic, even though I ain't much of a Star Wars fan.

Correct. Keep Lucas away, and this joint will FLOURISH.

And yes, zero rules. You can make more planets, more species, more danger, more Sith, more Jedi, on and on and on and on. They can add/subtract anything they want to get the vibe right.

Just no Jar Jars, and no God damn iconic characters portrayed as 9 year olds.

If we ever see a planet Sith movie, ever, just send your wallet to Disney now. Not joking. Legacy of the Force era type storyline, forget it. Will make the Marvel set up look like the og Fantastic Four or Clooney Batman. It's that real.

I know I will get flamed for asking this but do people still care about Star Wars like that? Been asking around. Besides the hardcore fans I have not seen much interest in this movie.

Because not much has been released to get people excited.

It's got various things working in it's favor.

It's an existing franchise.
It will sell a ton of merchandise.
Kids love it.
It has a hardcore fanbase.
It's going to be a huge action movie which will draw in crowds overseas.
The last one made 850 million worldwide a decade ago... and you can go ahead and pencil this new one for a billion worldwide.

As for the rest, they don't really need a good plan. CP is right.. it's going to make money regardless.. so they could plan and get everything perfect for the first few movies and it's great for everyone involved. Then, they get a little lazy for the next series of movies and don't get their first choice director but another solid one... they have some script troubles and one movie gets delayed and when it comes out it's a little rough. Then, another movie falls flat and they don't make as much in the box office. Before you know it, Brett Ratner presents Star Wars Episode IX  That's a pessimistic viewpoint to balance out CP's optimism. But look at Pixar.. they have a hell of a run.. but they're starting to weaken a bit and you can't put out great movies 10 times in a row. You can compare it to comic book movies.. ALL this great source material, but how often do we get a true adaptation on the big screen? Same with the Star Wars EU, it's got so much great material.. but great material doesn't always find it's way into the movies and we'll get 20 paragraphs of CP complaining how it's not as good and they dropped the ball

Personally, I'm very optimistic and hopeful in this first movie.. I kind of wish we would see Arndt's original script but oh well. And I'm hopeful for the future of the franchise with all the potential.. but we're going to need things to go right for this first movie before I get truly excited.

I'm just a casual fan of Star Wars and I'm looking forward to the new ones.

I don't even try to dissect it like I do comic book films and I like the whole concept or Jedis, Dark Side with light sabers, aliens, etc... I enjoyed the SWTOR and the different types of classes and how you upgrade them and all.

The only complaint I really have about the franchise is that it feels it drags a bit, like they are trying to squeeze too much into the film but it wasn't a deal breaker.

I need to see a full blown war like Lord of the Rings did, between clones and bots and Jedis and the Sith Lords, etc... Anything like that happen in the books? I didn't like the war scene they did in Attack of the Clones (or the one before it?) where it keps skipping between one scene to the other, I think that's how it was edited. I know it was because they had to de-activate the bot sin the ship or something but it could have been done much better.

My knowledge of Star Wars is limited to the six movies and the Clone Wars cartoon which is low key pretty damn good. They have some pretty good large scale battles. I recently started watching it when it hit Netflix.

There is a point in the universe where a complete, random, unknown alien race "invades" the known galaxy. (really need a leap of faith from folks on that)

They are the ANTI Jedi. They can not be sensed, they do not have lasers, and light sabers, and technology, they use organics. They tattoo and mutilate their own skin and bodies. They cut off their hands, and stuff replacement weapons into those stumps. If their bodies hold on and accept those changes, they are elite warriors. If their bodies reject that action, they are shamed and become nothing but worker bees.

They are ELITE warriors. Their ships are smart, knowledgeable, organic, living beings. They are equals to the Jedi in every way, and DECIMATE planet after planet after planet.

They are an enormous threat to the galaxy. And to defeat them, the Jedi, the Republic, the Empire, even some Sith would have t join together to fight them, and even that is tenuous. Trust issues, shady backstabbing, all the stuff that comes along with that.

But it creates the most epic of matchups. To put that into a movie, or more importantly, a series of movies would knock you on your ***. It's like a 20 book storyline that just absorbs you.

After that, you have storylines like one brother, against one sister. Sith vs Jedi. Imagine that ****.
You have Boba Fett helping Han Solo. :wow: :pimp:
How bout a PLANET of Boba Fetts? (Mandalorians)
Dallaa
The Maw
Suncrusher
Kessell
Lando stories
Nogirihi (sp)

You have Luke Skywalker, quite possibly the most gangster of all Jedi, teaming up with the lost planet of the Sith to search for a mysterious force in the galaxy that is casuing Jedi and Sith alike to go "insane" (for lack of a better more deeper description)

And if you think that Luke and the Sith just hang out and chill together, you'd be mistaken.

All that, and that doesn't even count the regular Republic v Empire stuff that Star Wars is based on, and I haven't even spoke on Thrawn.

And then there is the OLD Republic, eras and eras before Vader was even born. Sith/Jedi wars centuries before the ear we all know and love.

Rest assured, there are 50 movies to be made without even trying. If you get deeper, and more layered, you could make 100 movies and span 3-4 decades of Cinema lore. (not sure what their end goal is)

And while all that is going on, you inevitably have continuing writing/storytelling/doors being opened for new eras, action, adventures.

Yes, we could be in for some fun times. Up to them to get the ball rolling, and done correctly, Marvel style.

It is one of the best selling franchises ever yet casting decisions doesnt excite anyone. MCU has more buzz than this just from announcing movies. Even the DCCU gets talked about more than this when they make any announcement despite nothing being released.

Anyway Star Wars sucks imo. Im far more excited for Star Trek 3 than any Star Wars films. Star Trek >>>> Star Wars. I was just curious to know how fans feel about the series being a mickey mouse series from now on

Iono guys, I guess I would watch this film if it got put on the big screen some day, maybe that's just me tho.

That's porn folks. Pure, simple.

Meh, sort of want......

Put ANYTHING close to this on screen, and the money just flows like a river. These aren't even "key" stories in the universe, just random ideas for games and such that are separate from a lot of the EU.

You have movie characters that can be expanded/explored.
You have novels
You have comics
You have games

All lored up, and ready to put on screen, any way you see fit. There is no shortage of info out there to do what Marvel has done for comic books.

Sh*t, reading this whole thing got me legit excited.

Oh I've seen those already when they released years ago. That first vid was the SWTOR mmorpg I was talking about.

Is that supposed to read bought? Star Wars sells a lot more toys. Not about the universes but about the merch they sell. Comic books practically sell in niche numbers these days. The simpsons comic, at 6,500 sales an issue is on issue 209. That is how little they have to sell to keep going. The relevance and income from the movies >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> relevance and income from comics.

EDIT: Issue number 001 usually sells the most these days in hopes it will sell for a decent amount of money in the future but the comics that usually do sell for a decent amount of money are "first appearance of [popular character]." Final issues also tend to sell well as well as the death of [popular character] issues. Best selling single issues I can think of are the current GotG run that sold 211k on issue 1 as well as Superior Spidey 1 and Amazing Spidey 700 which sold around 180k each.
