News On Future Films Based on Comics/Paranormal/Sci-Fi

The DC Comics character Cyborg is going to be in Batman Vs. Superman, and according to Variety Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder have cast Ray Fisher in the role. The reason you don't recognize the name is because he's mostly known for his theater roles including the Broadway play Fetch Clay, Make Man in which he played Muhammad Ali.

All I wanted was a good Superman sequel. I don't want batman in it or other heroes making cameos. They couldn't even let the guy have a second movie with just himself.

So wasn't this FF reboot suppose to make up for the other films?

They went ahead and cast 2 actors from that whack Zac Efron romantic comedy "That Awkward Moment"?

Michael B. Jordan as Human Torch - I'm fine with that.

Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic - that's where I draw the line, I hate dudes face, and I hated everything about the movie "21 And Over".

This is true. Superman should've had a second sequel, then they should've waited to do that Batman & Superman mash-up later.

Especially, with the recent Batman movies.

Tho it did well in the box office they were expecting $800M off the first movie. So they fell 160 mill short.

They are tryna catch up to Marvel like everyone else. Everyone wants that ensemble superhero movie. Disney execs wanted the Avengers to come out first then branch into individual movies. Feige and Whedon told them that makes no sense.

You can bet the same thing happened at WB and all the rest of them but they can't say no since they are so far behind. I dont think the guys at WB understand you cant rush the ensemble flick. Fox is just lucky they have the one franchise that is meant to be ensemble from the get go. Sony puts a lot of heart into their product so the Spiderman Foes movie might just work out for them. It won't be no avengers tho.

What marvel and dc need to do is have good cartoon series again. I've been watching young justice, justice league, and justice league unlimited on netflix. Not a fan of what marvel has with those silly spiderman and hulk shows.

Where are you getting this? Serious question.

IronMan and Incredible Hulk were already made before Disney even bought Marvel. Disney bought Marvel in Dec of 2009 but IM2 filming wrapped in Jul of 2009. That is 3 films already out before Disney bought Marvel. Thor 1 (filming started Jan 2010 so this film has been in production long before Disney got Marvel) and Cap1 (filming started June 2010, again been in pre-production before Disney got in there) are actually still distributed by Paramount.

As a matter of fact, Disney still had to buy the distribution rights for the Avengers and IM3 from Paramount, they did this in October of 2010.

Disneys first distribution with Marvel is the Avengers so how did Disney try to push Marvel to make Avengers when 3 of the individual films were already done and the other have been in pre-production/filming before Disney bought them?

When did Feige and Whedon say no? What origins films did they make with Marvel under Disney, before the Avengers?

I got this a while back. Maybe it wasnt disney tho IDK. But one exec did.
But now when I try to google it Avengers 2 **** pops up.

it was on the comicbooks subreddit a while back. It was a link to a video. I'm not lookin for it tho. My overall point is still the same

Link? I'd love to read that story.

Whedon wasn't even hired as an Avengers director til July of 2010, 7 months after Disneys acquisition of Marvel.

I just don't think Disney (or even Whedon) had a hand in decision making when IM and Incredible Hulk were made, which was a good year+ apart. Hell Favreau was hired to direct IM1 in 2006 and Marvel announced IM1 in 2005. I just doubt Feige and Whedon (again, hired as Avengers dierector in 2010) were sitting with Disney before 2005 (when IM1 was announced) and saying no to the idea of Avengers and pitched in doing IM, Hulk, Thor and Cap first. The timeline just doesn't add up.

Let's do our prediction for your top 5 highest grossing box office film of the summer. Not what you'd like to see or what you think will be the best film but what you see making the most money.

My top 5 would be...

1. Transformers 4 (T3 easily made a billion and this one has dinobots! Can't see this one flopping)
2. ASM2 (people love Spidey and with a slew of villains, could be right up there)
3. How to Train your Dragon 2 (realy no other competition on the children films, I could see this doing close to Monsters/Despicable sequels numbers)
4. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (this is a trend, people love sequels, 1-3 are sequels)
5. Guardians of the Galaxy (even though it's Marvel, this'll be my dark horse and one that I want to succeed the most so I'll put it as my 5th)

Whats your top 5 box office of the summer 2014?

I'd participate, but I already checked out Box Office Mojo's summer projections a couple days ago.

And I know that it may not do well critically, but no DoFP? Just in terms of casting alone (Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence) I would put it ahead of GotG and DotPotA easily.

Participate anyways, you can have your own prediction that differs from Mojos list.

DoFP, I'd have it in the top 10 but not top 5. I don't know. Putting gotG at 5 is a big gamble because it is an original script, not a sequel and introduces a new world or very obscure characters. With that said, marvel just can't do wrong right now. I think it's one of those films that can play off the strength of Cap3, which is already in $600m. I think it'll finish at about $700m, $50m more than Thor2 and GotG I could see making ~$600. While DoFP I have pegged at $550m? It would be more before the scandal.

1. T4
2. DoFP
3. HTTYD2
4. ASM2
5. DotPotA

I wouldn't be surprised if How to Train Your Dragon beat out DoFP, but I can never gauge animated films correctly. Case in point, I had no idea The Lego Movie would wind up being the juggernaut that it became this year.

Yeah animated films are monsters on the box office. I didnt think Despicable Me 2 would make as much, it made Steve Carrell the third highest grossing actor in a film just behind the Rock and the Rock had several films to be #1 and RDJ had IM3. Carrell had that one film in 2013.
