NT's LEGAL Gun Thread UPDATE...First Youtube Firearm Review Page 61

How do you guys store your hammers in the whip? I have mine in the door panel but I fear someone might be able to peep and possibly steal it when I open my door.

Personally, If i'm carrying, it's on me. for long rides (over 2-3 hours) i'll put it under the seat, or in the glovebox. I used to leave a 9mm under my seat, under the mat, but I was paranoid about my car getting broken into/stolen. If you leave it in the car (which I don't recommend), might i suggest this:

After a long time BS'n, i finally got my reloading station set up.
I've been saving brass for a a few months, and slowly trying to stock up on components. Right now Im probably sitting on 1000 pieces of brass, 100 230 gr jhp, and a pound of powder (1 lb should be enough to load at least 800 rounds), and 2000 large pistol primers.

Of course last month I foolishly sold off my 9mm reloading supplies.

Set up

Loaded up a few rounds last night, I'll probably load 10 or so more today, and test it out on Wednesday when i get out to the range.

and JewSee, where the F do you live where all this ammo is available?

CA laws are so lame bro, Im glad Im in AZ, super friendly out here, rarely do we run into issues because of the laws being so anal. I'll keep an eye out for you on them mags bro, whats your limit on price? Holla at my via PM if you wish

Thanks bro.

Yep.

Right now i have 2 fnp-9's, and 2 .45 m&p (ones a compact, and ones a full size, but there's mag compatibility), and a springfield 1911

It makes sense to have multiples of the same gun for a few reasons. I like to have a lot of magazines (minimum 5 for each gun). It's easier to only have to deal with 1 type of mag than having to worry about which mag goes with which gun. Plus if one gun goes down, you still have a backup that youve spent time shooting. Buying holsters, sights, etc for different guns just doesn't make sense to me, especially if theyre in the same caliber.

And JewSee, i wish i could find 9mm for cheap. Local spot had some a few weeks ago, for 17.99 per box. I figure why pay 20 a box for 9mm when i can pay a couple of extra dollars, and shoot .45? Plus I think .45>9mm (i know i know, shot placement and bullet tech and all that) even if your carrying less ammo. I haven't really been able to find .45 either, granted I havent checking for ammo in general nowadays other than local gun forums.

Thanks for the input. I hope they still have it in stock. I hear the single shot conversion for CA might be illegal come January 2014 along with some new requirements.

edit*

Tested my reloads, they shot fine and well, even though im an awful shooter, i noticedd they were a bit more accurate at 10 yds than the factory loads i brought along. Probably helps they were the hollowpoints, as ive read on many forums hp's generally tend to be more accurate than most round nose.

Also picked up another 1lb of WST powder, and some other small components i needed from bass pro shop (only went there cuz i had gift cards from father's day) And the hunting lodge was a madhouse. Lliterally had to take a number to get service. At least they had powder, so im not complaining about that (the price of said powder, different story)

They were also selling broken down boxes of primers in 100 count packs for $5 per, with a limit of 300. I went ahead and bought 300 small pistol primers for my .45 brass that uses SPP. But that price is ridiculous. I've bought large pistol primers locally for 35 and 37 per 1000 count box (which is still high)

Even with the stupid inflated prices, it costs me about $12.50 to load one box of accurate, brass cased .45 ammo. Once I get a little money saved and can start buying in bulk, that price should go down another 2-3 bucks.

My accuracy was on a whole other level today... thats 9 rds from 30 ft. No whoopsies

Id say to all pistol newbs make the investment on a laser... jus dont expect it to guide ur shots for u haha this lady today at the range was missin the whole target from ten feet with an lc9 with the laser lol. The lasers best application is practicing your trigger squeezes during dry fire. Keeping it stdy throughout etc. My control has gotten exponentially better since pickin that thing up. Plus n home defense situations itll actually illuminate the target a bit. Really glad I got it.

I spent three days reading all of these posts and I made a reservation for a tour and shoot with an instructor at a gun range. For a first time handgun I think I've narrowed it down to a Springfield XD 9 or XDM 9. I live in Nevada so I'm going small because I can easily get a CCW. I live in an apartment and just recently tore my Achilles so it would be for protection and hobby since it will be awhile since I can play ball again. I am moving into a house in September so I was also wondering which one would be better equipped to turn into an offensive weapon. Any and all help would greatly be appreciated.

Fun but expensive hobby... get the full size if no need versatility. The sub compact if u wanna carry. Most of the subs come with grip extenders and mags. That includes the xdm9.. seems like a good first choice. If u dont like it at the range try the m&p 9c or glock 26/19 or ruger sr9c. Tons of sweet shooting carry semis these days. Merica the GREAT!

Jus make sure 9mm is at least somewhat available locally. Sucks to constantly be waitin on shipments. Maybe better off goin 40 cal if u can mange the recoil. Seems to be the rd most rdly available nationwide.

Can't go wrong with a Springfield or Glock for a first gun. Reliable, they'll last, and a lot of fun to shoot.

I went with the SA XD-9 for my first, it just felt better than the XDM. I'd definitely suggest the subcompact if you're going to daily carry it. I could conceal the full XD-9 if I had to, but the smaller one is obviously better for that.

I really need to catch up in this thread...you guys are doing it BIG. I'm still trying to find that money tree Cotite is pulling from

^You and me both bro. I've just been lucky, and do a lot more local deals. Sold a bunch of stuff (ammo, parts, my eotech, most extra AR accessories) so i had a few dollars to work with. I sold and traded close to 1000 rounds of 5.56 and .223 in the last 2-3 months. Probably sold about 250 rounds of sd 9mm. Another thing i did was sell a lot brass. I saved all my 9mm brass for about a year and a half when i was going to reload for the 9. I probably had 3k in used brass, and sold 4-500 round lots for $35 per. Same with 5.56. Just by saving saving my brass, i probably came up an extra $250. Not much, but a nice reward for simply picking up my trash. It's just like sneakers, even used, you can still get most of your money back on things.

I Wish i had more 45 loading supplies. Right now I could load 1000 rounds. But I keep reading about dudes on forums who stocked up long ago buying 8 lb jugs of powder for 80-90 bucks, primers $25 per thousand, and i remember the groupbuy i got into last year, and 1000 plated .45 boolits were 70. Now pretty much all those prices have doubled. And reloading is still significantly cheaper than buying loaded ammo.

One day this week i'll post pics of my .45's (don't think ive shared), but just break up this wall of text. Bought a sight pusher off ebay a few months ago, best $50 gun related purchase I've made in a long time. Simple to use, pretty robust, Ive installed 2 sets of ameriglo hackathorn sights on my m&p's

Your my role model bro... haha

Dear god... if i did the math on my shooting related expenses id puke. In the past 3 months theres no doubt ive shot at LEAST 600 rds of. 45 and 600 rds of 9mm... im gunna start saving my brass at the very least... i wont lie the ammo hunt is kind of a rush tho hah nothin like checkin some oddball sporting goods store n coming out with a cpl hundred rds

Excited to see the collection. I need to throw some tru glows on my glock. glad im not hugely interested n ARs seem like 10x the money pit with all the tacti cool ish.

Shot a cz75 today... i can see why ppl with the money jus get sigs n cz n kimbers. All metal frame > polymers n accuracy n controllability to me. I now want a cz hah

Grouped pretty well all the way out to 40 ft. The ABCD was rapid fire n succession.

Let's keep this thread going!

Traded one of my FNP's for a gen 2 g19. Added a grip fore adapter after I shot 150 flawless rounds. Also got a set of ameriglo 1 dots with the orange/green front sight (similar to the hackathorns i have and love on my 45 m&p's)

The 1911 has dawson presion i dot style sights, 10-8 flat trigger, simonivich gunner grips, S&A slimline magwell/flat MSH. Not going to mess with the internals, but eventually (no day anytime soon) I'll send it off to have some work done. But for me, the 1911 is just my range gun and spends most of it's time in the safe. Might let my cousin borrow it for a while, as he has 0 guns and 4 daughters.

Also came up huge. Uncle has a friend who's an LEO. Said a guy brought a bag of ammo and said he was moving out of country and wanted to dispose it. Passed on to my uncle, and this was passed over to me. Greatest come up since high school (homie hooked me and a buddy up with 37 chik fil a chicken sandwich coupon cards) Breakdown of what i got:

30 rounds #6 12 guage
100 rounds of 124 gr hydrashocks
50 rounds of 124 gr speer gold dots
50 rounds 147 gr hydrashocks
100 rounds of winchester jhp's
1 round BLACK TALON!

I think im going to switch my 9mm over to glocks. It just makes sense. More aftermarket support, mags available for less than $30, glock customer service, plus it just might be the best 9mm platform ever. Got the 19 now, will probably get a gen 4 g17 around crimastime.

Lol @ one black talon. They are essentially the same bullet as the ranger T only not as expansive. (Barely). Niceee come up tho. Theyre all older versions now but id feel more than confident with any of them. Thats a cpl hundred bones at todays rates. Good 2 see u didnt give up on the 9s. Love my 17. Wanna get a 27 and get a lone wolf g26 barrell for it.. then. Can have .45. 40. And .9 with interchangable mags between carry platform and closet gun.

Bruh, you can always buy an aftermarket barrel, they run about 150 or so. Might need a new recoil spring as well, but at least you can use the .40 mags

Luckygunner is legit. They're prices aren't the best, but you'll get what you ordered in a timely manner.

for ammo, i like sgammo (especially self defense), palmetto state armory, and ammunitiontogo.

I concur...ammoseek.com is one of the best if not the best ammunition websites out now.

It searches the Internet for ammunition dealers and lists the results. You can search by caliber and it even shows you the price per round which is great because you don't have to do any math when comparing 1000 rounds to a 500 round purchase.

Do yourself and your wallet a favor and check out ammoseek....the days of saying " I can't find ammo" are over.

Jewsee, correct you are...the Ranger SXTs are basically the Black Talons except they don't have the black lubalox coating. The SXTs and especially the bonded ones (the bonded ones don't seperate when going through barriers like windshields) actually perform better than the Blacks...either way they still have those talons when they expand.

I have them in both my Gen4 Glock 26s.

Woah. Did not kno bout ammo seek...

This is why I love y'all.

The whole work of goin to all these sites n waste my time tracking down who has what piecing together orders. :x

Exactly why I've been goin to cabelas... Walk in. Pick what I want. Bounce

Now that I'm moving that's out and ammoseek it is. :smokin

In the next month I'm seriously thinking about buying an HK45 Tactical.

I had the FNP 45 Tactical which is a GREAT pistol, but it always made me think about the HK.
