NT's LEGAL Gun Thread UPDATE...First Youtube Firearm Review Page 61

Man, I haven't been in this thread in a minute, but I'm so jealous of you guys down in the South with practically zero gun laws lol. I went to lunch with my mom today, and afterwards I went to the LGS down the street "just to look". I've been wanting a S&W 686 revolver for a while, but apparently they're falling off the California roster and are kind of hard to come by (have to be modified to single action prior to purchase and then converted back to normal afterwards). Only a couple models are on there, but none are what I was looking for. So the guy brings out a Dan Wesson 715 with a 6" barrel, and I'm sold. As they're doing the paperwork, I see a Sig Sauer 1911 with the SSE job and long *** barrel. I ask the guy how I can get off roster guns and he said that I'd have to buy them there because they only have certain barrels/guns etc..I brought up the HK45, and how I wish they were on the roster, so he goes to the next counter and pulls one out....so anyway, on 7/14 I pick up my new Dan Wesson revolver, and on 8/15 I pick up my new HK45 lol. Still need to order my WC 1911...damn
Where you from?  Sounds like you copped those at Triple A's Sporting Goods am I right?

Yeah you're right it was at Triple A's in Vallejo. How'd you guess? I wish I'd known sooner that they did SSE, because I was about to go all the way to Tracy.

Thanks for the heads up about the sigma guys. I watched a couple videos on YouTube and it failed to eject numerous times, with that being said I think I'm going to get the g19 for my first.

Updated shot of my AR :D

Yea you don't want that sigma at all. If you're like me & didn't wanna spend 5 bills on a glock as your first gun purchase the s&w sd9ve is a great first choice imo. A lot of ppl complain about the heavy trigger but it didn't bother me in the least, haven't had any failures either. Picked it up for $299+ tax at my local dealer.

You hit it right on the head man I don't want to spend 5 bills on a glock the s&w sd9ve looks nice too I'm gonna watch some reviews on it. I'll be lucky if I can get it for the price you got.

Got my permit today gonna check out some shops this week.

Congrats..I've had my carry permit since January and I'm having a hard time getting use to carrying a firearm..How do you guys that carry feel about the awkwardness of having a gun/holster at your side?

Is it the feeling when people see it?

Well no, cause people aren't supposed to see your firearm..I'm referring to the weight of the gun, riding in a car with it at your side, etc etc..

I keep my G27 in my pocket basically everywhere I go. Feels weird when I don't have it.

Mine wont' fit in my pocket..Have to have a holster to carry..

I usually keep my pistol in a holster. It takes a while to get use to it tho I will say that. I usually have it unholstered in my car so it can be easier for me to grab and use.

Amazing tech. A limitless budget helps haha i think its cool when tech like this designed for military applications is tweeked and turned into something for an even greater cause.

Found this while browsing. Kind of backs up what I've been saying a few months back. It's crazy to dispute the power of a .45...with that being said the guys who basically kill for a living have been using 9mm for the most part. IMO it's the best all-around round. It's not the biggest nor smallest, neither the most powerful nor weakest, just good all-around. To make up for its perceived lack of stopping power it allows for accurate follow-up shots due to very manageable recoil.

Many readers are under the impression that U.S. special operations forces have returned to using .45 caliber pistols since the adoption of the M9 9mm in 1985.

This has some truth to it, but in most cases SOF units use 9mm, experts maintain.

The Army’s Delta Force adopted .40 caliber, but the elite unit is having the same problems as the FBI – the heavier caliber is causing excessive wear problems in guns that were originally designed to be 9mm. Delta is now using 9mm Glock 17s, 19s and 34s.

The 75th Ranger Regiment and Special Forces units use M9A1s and Glock 19s.

SEAL Teams mostly use the Sig Sauer 226 (9mm).

plus added capacity... I really wanna get a 9mm for that reason alone.
