NT's LEGAL Gun Thread UPDATE...First Youtube Firearm Review Page 61

I stained mine black. :pimp:

Me and my boy and his dad are doing the permit to carry class next Sunday at cabellas. Pretty sure I'll still have to wait a few weeks for my permit which acts as a permit to purchase. So I'll have to pick a pistol in the meantime.

You need a permit to purchase? Wow, what state? I'm in Ohio and as long as I don't have any Felonies, I can walk in a gun store and buy an AR, shotgun, pistol or whatever. I've been considering the permit to carry, might finally take my wife with me and get it.

You can buy a permit to purchase that lasts a year. You need one to buy ar's and pistols and some shotguns I think. Either way mine is expired. So I might as well get my permit to carry that cost $150 and last 5 years vs $50 for one year. Plus I want to be able to carry for work if I'm out late by the bars and clubs selling food to drunk idiots.

This is for mn smoke. We gotta pay to buy the "scary" guns.

First time shooting trap today. Fun as hell. Try it if you guys haven't. :pimp: shot about 50% of the clays. It was windy and my boy didn't go easy on the throws.

shot the KSTG match last night @ the NRA range with the RMR'd m&p45c

first stage was lowlight. I forgot to put new batteries in my flashlight, so it was harder to identify targets with the weak beam it was putting out. Another dude was shooting full powered 44 mag loads. Literally looked like a mini flamethrower.

I came in 24 out of 35, and 4 out of 6 for semi auto heavy cal division.

I love shooting steel. There's nothing as enjoyable as shooting a steel target, hearing that 'ping' and watching it fall over. I think I need to find a local bowling ball match.

Does cabellas, or anywhere else sell steel targets? I need to get a gong :pimp:

What you mentioned above is that like a shooting league? Sounds like fun.

It's not a shooting league per se, it's just a monthly match that's run by a few people involved in this particular "league". As far as I know, the NRA range is one of the only/few places that have sponsored matches, but it's run similarly to IDPA, USPSA, etc the only difference with those leagues is you have pay each year to member, and pay for each match. With KSTG you just pay a match fee, and they have shooting tests for rank 3 or 4 times per year. Right now I'm a C class shooter, i think it goes D,C,B,A,Master, Grandmaster, similar to how other leagues are set up. I got my ranking the first time I ever came out to shoot, shooting in Khakis, button down, and my lunargrands cuz I left m change of clothes at home. So im pretty sure the next time theres a qualifier, I'll make B class.

There's not a lot of info on it outside of pistol-forum.com, but here is the website link http://kstghq.com/rulebook/

If you have a local IDPA or USPSA club, I'd definitely go out just to see how you can shoot against a timer. It's a lot different when you have to move, and think and shoot. Plus it's a lot of fun, and most of the guys there a decent people. I think this summer Im going to try out IDPA since there I know there's a local club in MD that has matches during the week.

Good info Richie. Interested in competitive shooting myself but also nowhere nearrrr rdy for IDPA

Maaan, you ready. Just get out there. Realize you probably won't win, and a lot of the winners, win because of the small stuff, like procedural penalties. I always have a ton of procedurals, so thats why Im almost alwasy near the bottom. I'll almost guarantee you won't be the worst shooter out there.

I'll look into some local stuff. Im not worried about getting smoked. You gotta start somewhere. I'm already hooked on clays.

I just finished my ccw class too and just have to go get printed. Then I'm sending my paperwork to mn and fl so we'll see who gets back to me first. Probably going to get a shield I'm 9mm. I hated the glock 26 and don't like the xds either.

I can understand you hating the Glock 26. I never liked how any of the sub-compacts felt in my hand. Have you tried the 19? I carried a Glock 32 (357 sig) for about 13 years and loved it. The compact is a perfect size.

Yeah I've shot the 19. I shot the .40 compact (forget the number) along with the 26. I just don't really like clocks. I tried, they just aren't my favorite.

Yea if you don't have larger hands don't mess with a glock. Though the reliability may be unmatched so are the trashiness of the ergos haha it's llike holding a Lego gun. Very blocky. The gen 4s are better but still not as good of an angle as and M&P or CZ or 1911

The ergos aren't bad for all Glocks, just the tiny sub-compacts. The compact and full size Glocks are nice. I know what you're saying though, compared to my Sig Sauer, the glock doesn't feel as comfortable, but I love how low the barrel sits in your hand on a glock though. Trigger isn't as crisp out the box but that's a personal thing. And reliability is second to none. I am partial to striker-fire and DAO guns, don't like manual safeties at all. I'd take a Glock over any other pistol if I had to have just one.

Comparitively... Yes the ergos do suck haha that's what 25 plus years of engineering advancements brings. Glock hasn't really changed the grip angle on anything besides entirely new models. There are better designs for sure in terms of grip and placement. The standard cz design. (witness. Tangfolio any p series) the angle is so much more natural feeling and your able to get such a higher grip due to the interlocking slide as well. Pick up a M&P or Sig P and then a glock and ull see what I mean. I still love Glocks tho and with a little bit of fondling it'll feel as good as u need it to. But yea it's not seeing the 1911s or new designs in terms of ergos/grip. It's a small thing that doesn't mean all that much buttttt if you want to be accurate as possible the gun should fit your hand. You shouldn't hafta worry about ur grip once your locked in. I always felt that my G17 was a little cumbersome in that way especially when dumpin double taps and rapid fire ... and the old model crimson trace with the Palm swell didn't help I'm sure. If I could only have one gun it may be a glock still but they really could fix the grip angle some. Full disclosure I haven't handeled too many gen4s so maybe it's less noticeable now.

Shot a 40 this weekend it wasn't bad as people make it out to be as far as recoil goes

I can't agree on really anything > 1911 those are by far what I shoot best and most comfortable. But I'm not trying to spend $1300 on a 3" 1911 carry gun I'll probably trash.
