The Mexican national team will have a manager on the sidelines for Spain after all, but it won't be a full-time coach.

Enrique Meza was named interim coach and will guide El Tri against La Furia Roja at Estadio Azteca on Aug. 11. Meanwhile, Efrain Flores will pick up the slack for the remainder of the year.

Meza had one of the worst tenures of any Mexican coach in the last two decades and helpeed bring about the first Javier Aguirre era. Under Meza, Mexico lost qualifying matches to the United States, Honduras and Costa Rica - the latter of which was in Azteca. Aguirre rescued the squad, however, as Meza was no longer manager after a 3-1 setback in Honduras.

Since then, Meza has been successful at the club level. He guided Pachuca to domestic and international titles and helped los Tuzos win the 2006 Copa Sudamericana, the only South American trophy a Mexican club has won to date. Meza led Cruz Azul to the Apertura 2009 final.

Flores, meanwhile, has some connections to the Mexican Football Federation. Flores worked with FMF executive Nestor De La Torre with Chivas. Aside from Chivas, Flores has coached Atlas and Leon.

Mexico will play Chile in Guadalajara on Sept. 4 and Colombia in Monterrey on Sept. 7. as well as another match against Uruguay in Ciudad Juarez.

We need to put in Chepo already; hes a real offensive type of coach and thats exactly what the TRI needs now, and hes also known in giving younger players a chance, the federation needs to stop +*%@@#! around and put him in, at worst he fails the first couple years, then we have 2 more years to get back on track

The same old bull %@%+ is what's playing out at the moment, even if it is just interim

Cronyism prevails, we need to get off of this.

as corny as this shirt might look, i need it. anyone with fam in GDL that might be able to help pick some of these up, let me know!
