there are a bunch of pretty nice shoes to start a collection with that have been released recently, but if forced to make a choice between the two pairs you mentioned, i would go with the '09 space jams.
most definetly get shoes that you like and can easily afford. don't go broke "chasing after rainbows" trying to get older limited releases and what other people might think a collection should be. buy what you really like or you'll end up feeling a lot of buyer's remorse.
i'm really happy with this simple pair of blazers that ended up costing me less than $10, that i found in a sales stack at finishline years ago. if for some reason i was forced to go down to only five pairs of shoes, this pair would be among them.

So you woke up today and thought. "Right, i'm going to start a collection, i better ask NT what is cool to make sure i buy the right shoes"
That is ridiculous. Most people start collecting without actually planning to do so and by buying what they like and think is nice. Before you know it, you have a load of shoes stacked up in your house and you think "hey, i guess i'm a collector now". I know thats what happened to me, having an interest in shoes from a young age and buying what i like plus shoes that i wanted as a kid but couldn't afford.
I don't believe you can just one day decide to start collecting. Especially if you are asking what you should buy!
If you are collecting for the sake of 'being cool' then that is totally wrong and is part of the reason why everything has gone downhill over the last few years.

Exactly. I personally don't like AF1's and only have a couple pairs of Air Jordans, but some folks have entire collections of those shoes and swear by those models. Its different for everyone. Get what you like, not what someone else likes.

yeah man starting off you should get what it is that you like. some people cop things just to say they copped, that's not collecting, that's one-upping. get what you like and be a REAL collector.

QFT.... who cares what other people say. Get the shoes that you like or shoes of players you like. Do you man, nobody can tell you what's dope and not dope. It's all a matter of preference.

Okay, if you need to ask us what to get, then you're probably starting a collection for the wrong reasons.
It needs to mean something to you so you obviously need to get what YOU like, whether its the color/brand/model, or if you favorite player wore that shoe during some crazy game you will never forget.. etc...
Lastly, if you're going to buy shoes and just stock em, hope prices go up, resell ... don't bother its a waste of time/money. Buy something more liquid...

ask yourself, "what do i like? where do i want to get started?" do you like running shoes? new age 2009.2010 am360 air classics? or maybe the retro vintage classics? do you like tennis? classic retro models still available for cheap or some of the newage lunarlite stuff? basketball- do i want 90s classic retros or some new age kobe Vs with zoom air or the lebrons with full length airmax. Do you like outdoor ACG type shoes? again, many retros or new age zoom morizabas that are hitting outlets at very cheap prices right now.

Thanks for your opinions guys. Im not going to resell and hope that prices would go up. Im going to buy because Im gonna use em for ballin, etc.
The Jordan XIs and the foamposite are really the ones I like. Ever since I saw them, I fell in love with them already. So basically, Im just asking for your opinions to help me decide. LOL
