🦉The Official Drake Thread6️⃣ - Scary Hours 3 11.17.23

It won't be top 10 on the charts after this week is up.

Kendrick got 3 disses over it. Drowned out. It's only getting plays so people can get context on Kendricks disses. He did a good job on it, it just didn't matter.

Drowned out doesn't mean it wasn't good either. I thought he delivered.

Family matters is insane.

It's truly insane that due to meet the Grahams dropping 20 minutes after, people really aren't talking about family matter like they should.

It is the best diss but Kendricks strategy killed any momentum it may have had.

Been bumping Family matter hard the past two days.
This... as things stand Kendrick won IMO, BUT..... family matters is far and away my favorite. Like you said the timing of Kendrick killed it off

These Kendrick stans man :smh:

SMH these are grown adults doing this... arrest them all.

Kendrick had excellent strategic timing

And that alone might have won the beef

but I still think family matters is the best overall track outta all of em

Nice to see others w the same perspective in hindsight after the rubble cleared

Yes - on some here and now in the moment.

But in years time - it’s gonna be hard for Dot fans to argue when Family Matters will age the best and get noted as the best diss out of the entire exchange.

Kendrick wins on social media/ppl yelling….

…but - Drake made Family Matters.

That's not how rap beefs and disses work unfortunately.

I’m not saying that. I’ve been here since 03

I still remember the years of Hov fans vs Nas fans arguing about how Takeover was more sophisticated and ether was playground disses. I think the consensus now is that Nas won bc Ether is a verb in itself.

The problem lies here is that Kendrick is going to win like Nas….but there won’t be any ether>takeover singular stance because Dots strategy was a qty drown.

Drake fans will always have a back pocket argument that quietly - Drake made the best diss record.

Watch!

Yeah I went back yesterday and just had each diss in order...and man....family ties was just on another level.

When it first dropped I gave it a spin and was like damn...but Kendrick dropped immediately after and then not like us dropped and the train was off the track by then.

The the heart 6 dropped and....yeah....it was already over.

See you already done forgot the name, and called it a Kendrick song.

Drowned Out

Im going to listen to Family Matters again on lunch just in case. Because it did get drowned out.

EDIT: Im listening now
Let me preface with: What I think separates true lyrists from rappers is the ability to tell a story. IMO that a display of true lyrical and technical prowess.

OK Just listen again. The beat is hard, Drake flow is hard, that third verse....tbh was never a fan of that sing-songy **** back in the Nelly days, not even the Texas stuff(ESPECIALLY the Texas stuff!). Other than that yes, its a good song. BUT THIS AINT VERSUS. After jokingly requesting a quadruple entendre, you cant come back with straight forward bars. Thats like Eric Gordon doing the rotating mascot dunk in the dunk contest and then next person dunks from the free throw line, talking about, "but my form was perfect tho". Drake has some nice lines but the technicality of it wasn't on par with Euphoria at all.

These "reactions" are getting outta hand :wow:

I like Family Matters more and more on repeat listens. Could've been split into 2 songs really. That whole first part could get added to the end of Pushups. Which is why I'm starting to think that Kendrick heard it before Euphoria even came out cause of that little snippet. That lead to some of those lines in Euphoria about the predictions and taking it further. Kendrick knew that Family Matters had the potential to win the whole beef so he recorded MTG to go scorched earth. 6:16 was the fuse.

I don’t think that anyone will disagree that “Family Matters” is a phenomenal diss, in a vacuum. The fact is, the strategy to neutralize it combined with the viscousness of “Meet the Grahams” will be always remembered. Drake fans will argue his is the better song. Kendrick fans will argue his is more disrespectful.

Then within 12 hours, Kendrick dropped a hit song. “They Not Like Us” is a high energy and high replay song. An additional momentum boost his way. Conversely, Drake released the “the Heart Part 6”. Which, positioned him to be on the defensive. His counter punching bars from that stance weren’t received as well as they once were. It’s not a bad song, it just doesn’t match either the energy or the disrespect of the previous Kendrick songs.

This is agnostic of the what was said and what is or isn’t true.
