Heard "One Dance" in the club last night.....that song is AMAZING. That Afrobeat sound is . It goes in the whip as well.

And upon further review, "Grammys" is a banger. "Shirt off shawty". And Future' verse wasn't as bad as I initially thought. He just repeats the hook a few times, then starts spazzing. Not his best, but he did his thing....and was flowing.

I understand Drake's aim is girls, music to just vibe to and what have you. It's just he's done it better than this before. I'm sure it'll be dope to cruise to especially at night or when you're on the scene but it's underwhelming. Production does a lot of the work here.

I'm not saying if the music is bad give it a pass, music is subjective, somebody can think this is the greatest album ever and we wouldnt be able to tell them otherwise

what I was getting at is you always have those people that say "oh but it's not lyrical", "oh but he doesnt make music about struggle, real issues", theres not one single artist than can truly cover all topics and be genuine about it...Drake caters to a demographic, lets leave it at that

Agreed. Part of the reason I didn't even say much about it until I heard it six times. It's hard to even judge albums from artists you like until you learn the words to stuff.

This thought process applies mostly to bodies of work that require some level of introspection and thought. This simple/basic *** effort is NOT that. And he doesn't have to try any harder because most of y'all champion and celebrate mediocrity like it's your job

I agree here in that it's a wrongly timed release. This album is definitely more of a fall, cold outside feel but honestly what Drake album isn't. He's never made a "summer" type album. His sound is very much cold outside or nighttime vibe. But getting past that this album is really good. There's quality music on here. The true funny comments in this thread have been that this album is too soft. Drake albums are always soft. Even when he's trying to spit hard rhymes it comes off a soft. Nobody has ever heard a rapping Drake song and thought man that dude is a thug.

It's confusing but I've accepted a long time ago that dudes are conflicted when it comes to Drake. He's solely focused on his personal life and that always leads him going back to recurring themes. Views is really no different subject matter wise than his previous albums.

All the focus always gets turned to his more pop oriented songs when he drops an album. But as stated that's where he's always been.

People want that first initial impact when they play something for the first time. That you hear a song and hafta play it over and over feeling. I could see some people not getting that from this album. Which could definitely make it lackluster.
