🦉The Official Drake Thread6️⃣ - Scary Hours 3 11.17.23

I'd like to think no one wrote songs, performed them with all the melodies and cadences intact, gave them to Michael Jackson and he sang verbatim over beats.

Exactly

There is video on YouTube of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean that he made, beat and all, in his home before Quincy retouched it

Stop tryna discredit this mans artistry and talent to save Drake

What does that have to do with what we're talking about?

Absolutely nothing at all.

If TPAB is not your favorite album, I get it. It's not for everybody and that is perfectly ok. But to anyone actually calling it trash or garbage, and then supporting the artistic quality of "Views" in the same breath...

...understand that your opinion is basically no longer of any merit when it comes to this music ****. Real musicians and true music critics do not support your "views".

I sat and listened to this whole thing in the whip wit my homie who is a big time Drake fan. I'm expecting the hip hop album of the year. Then y'all have the nerve to say, "it's R&B." How ******* disrespectful is that? He can't sing whatsoever! His voice literally sounds awful and he can't "sing" any of these songs without computer assistance and he definitely can't sing them live. But y'all are OK with that . Versatility does not = great. He can be a jack of all trades as much as he wants to, but he is a master of none. There is not a single skill that he is musically exceptional at. Not one.

Music is where it is today because yalls standards are so unfathomably low. It's just hard to believe how low we have fallen smh

O here comes the if it sounds good then whatever crowd. Anything to not make Aubrey look bad [emoji]128514[/emoji]. If he didn't write and of the songs... but the production is great... does that mean drake =chief keef [emoji]129300[/emoji] but wait keef write his own **** so that would mean keef>drake [emoji]129300[/emoji] but drake production might be better so that can balance out the = again.

[emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji] This ***** $tacy $tacy a one man wrecking crew in this thread I gotta salute
I get 1 warning per month in here . Stick around long enough u gonna see one of em get in they feelings and snap on me.

I think the problem with Drake is his reference to being "TBE" and "Top five, top five, top five". That, combined with the fact that he possibly has peaked conceptually, and I can see why people are willing to call him out for the lack of writing.

Repped. Standards are so low today, people will accept anything. I can't stand people calling it an R&B album when he can't sing and there's too much rapping to be labeled that. He can't pen his own ****, he's got a team of writers so he's not a rapper. He's a pop star . Nothing wrong with that, that's where the money is but this **** is not an R&B album and he's not one of the top rappers.

My girl put this **** on in the car today. She made it to track four and said she couldn't listen to this whining anymore, it was too much.

Thought this was funny

Aubrey isn't a rapper cause there's been to much funnies in the light in regards to him writing his stuff, reference tracks, stealing entire songs, jocking flows, etc. Too much evidence to overlook.

He isn't a R&B singer for the simple fact that he can't sing.

He's a pop artist, in the same vein as Taylor Swift and Rihanna, can't put respeck on his name no mo. Add to all this the mediocre to downright poor projects he's come out with the last 2 years and I'm renouncing my standom.

And everyone knows rappers don't either.

And that's exactly my point

The **** ain't that deep

It's music. It's not like son out here avoiding his taxes or something

If the **** sound tight, then that's all that matters

What rappers? Eazy E, Dr Dre, Kanye. Those are the biggest rappers who have had multiple writers and they themselves have been open about it. They didn't need any reference tracks to leak and get exposed. This dude Drake is not only using writers. But the exact flows and everything. Dude is hip hops Rihanna/Britney Spears.

And on top of that the **** don't sound tight.

I told ****** for years Drake had a writing team and nobody wanted to believe me

This was back during the Take Care era too.

I'm still going to listen tho. Because the people he's working with and getting material from are EXTREMELY talented. That *****'s like a vessel for great music.

It is what it is.

You Victor Page? You gotta stop getting banned bruh.

I think if Drake was open about it, it wouldn't be this much backlash. Most people were under the impression that he's writing his own ****. Most people didn't know about Quentin Miller til the Meek situation.

If Drake was just like "I'm working with Quentin, PND, whoever else and they write for me" from the beginning it wouldn't have been nothing to expose. We would have known then to put him in a different catergory.

Anyone who believes Drake has entire albums written for him is an idiot. He's proven his worth his worth as an MC going back to his Room For Improvement days. If he gets in the studio and writes songs with other artists I have no issues with that. Plenty of big name artists do that. Go look on the writing credits on any rapper and you will see multiple writers.

Kendrick and Cole have multiple writers so can anyone explain how that's any different then what Drake is doing?

Reference tracks don't mean anything since artists send out tracks all the time to writers and producers to make their own version. Q Miller himself said he never gave Drake full songs so I dont even know why anyone would believe he wrote for him. Only thing I remember is Hold On being written by Majid and that's it.

Drake has wrote for many people too, lets not overlook that when playing the "hes just a leach" angle. I haven't seen anyone come out and take credit for the So Far Gone era and the quality of his bars is pretty much the same now.

The only issue I have is, don't say you're top 5. Top 5 artists? of course. but rapper, no.
