🦉The Official Drake Thread6️⃣ - Scary Hours 3 11.17.23

And everyone knows rappers don't either.

And that's exactly my point

The **** ain't that deep

It's music. It's not like son out here avoiding his taxes or something

If the **** sound tight, then that's all that matters

What rappers? Eazy E, Dr Dre, Kanye. Those are the biggest rappers who have had multiple writers and they themselves have been open about it. They didn't need any reference tracks to leak and get exposed. This dude Drake is not only using writers. But the exact flows and everything. Dude is hip hops Rihanna/Britney Spears.

And on top of that the **** don't sound tight.

Aye man, obviously you guys feel some type of way about it.

And I ain't mad at y'all for feeling the way y'all feel.

I'm not here to cape for the boy. I just don't think it's that important.

But that's just me. Ima mind my bidness

So you looked at writing credits saw other names and assumed other people are penning kendricks verses like they are drakes?

What else were they doing? Their names are listed as writers so I assume they helped write songs with Kendrick or Cole.

Oh I forgot it only matters when Drake does it not those guys :smh:

There were reference tracks my friend, REFERENCE TRACKS.

That's not the same many artist not just in rap use other songs as references or interpreted them for use on their projects you just coming off as hater b I don't like the album either but I'm not gonna **** on dude.

Sheep gone sheep bruh :smh:
this album got some riders but it also has a couples misses
Drake not seeing Cole as an artist (Cole writes and produces his own ish) and Kendrick storytelling makes drake look like a kindergartner

What the boy did to Fire & Desire
400

Son.

That's the one.

A mutha******* simphony.

not surprised . i mean dude is touring and dropping 50+ songs a year across IYRTITL , WATTBA , and views . its realistically somewhere in the middle though -- he doesnt write all of his stuff , nor does he have entire albums written for him

Do you think dudes paid very handsomely by Drake are going to willingly admit that they've given him full songs? Or forget even getting paid, sometimes being associated with him is enough. Right or wrong, I can understand why a writer wouldn't mess that up. No matter how we feel about Drake we can all agree he is the most polarizing guy in rap music right now.

But see for Drake, how do you go out here having full arenas screaming "running thru the 6 with my woes" and singing Hotline Bling, and you didn't even come up with any of that ****? That's very astonishing to me for a guy who acts the way he does, and I just cant understand why people let this BS slide when it comes to him. Jay-Z got killed for using a half a verse worth of Big's bars throughout his career, but guys are looking the other way for a N_ who's had an entire team full of writers and leeched off of up and coming artists his entire career.

I'm glad Kodak Black told this man to back up when he realized Drake was coming for him next. Views would've sounded like a prequel to Project Baby 2.

I blame the generation, everyone is so emotional and in touch with their feminine side (a little too much). Also they're pretending to be a certain way instead of being true to themselves. You have guys listening to Beyonce and Rihanna and some are actually imitating them. Seems like they're more teenage girls than boys and men sometimes.
This is a wildly ignorant statement.

Stick to the shoe threads.

10 Bands reference track was the same and Drake's song (he modified it slightly).

What's sad is you actually believe what you're saying
laugh.gif
.  You clearly don't know how to read the album credits.  There are music writers and there are lyric writers.  And when songs are sampled, that writer gets their name in the credits as well...as a writer.  Nobody wrote any of Kendricks raps on TPAB and that's not even up for debate.  It has never been but keep trying to convince yourself that Drake is the same as Kendrick and J Cole .  Whatever floats your boat ::kanye shrug::

And do some of yall even know what a reference track is and what they are for?  Clearly you don't if you think it's not an indication that they wrote/created the song
laugh.gif
.  An artist who wrote a song would NEVER require a reference track performed by someone else in order to record the song.  It's literally impossible and makes no sense at all.

But that's really not an excuse. You have a lot of other rappers who follow Gucci recipe and drop that many records yearly.
Future
Thug
RHQ
Montana
And if music is truly "subjective" as some argue, then you can't say oh they don't need writers cause their music is "trash". what's good for one should be for all

Bro, I feel what you're getting at. I really do. But how many reference tracks need to drop before you start to believe? How many more former OVO dudes need to say this man stole off me? How many more up and coming artists need to put this guy on front street for taking their beats/concepts? I mean ****

And riddle me this Drake fans...what rapper you know who's been on top for as long as he has and didn't bring not ONE of his boys with him? Hov had Bleek, 50 had G-Unit, Nas had AZ, T.I. had Dro, ect. Who has Drake put on...? OVO ain't nothing but a front for lyric laundering man

Look at the writing credits and get back to me

Kendrick credited the people you heard in the song. For example George Clinton and Thundercat were featured (can be heard) in Wesley's Theory and James Fauntleroy and Ronald Isley were featured (can be heard) in How Much a Dollar Cost.

Doesnt matter it's common practice in the music industry since the days of Motown

I gladly listen to Rihanna and Beyoncé

Lemonade >

 Rihanna's biggest hit on the album comes from a reference track (different beat tho) from one of drakes artist but drake is wrong for doing it tho. And Beyoncé has a ridiculous amount of writers to helped her every album.

Lyrics in hiphop are held to a different standard than other music genres. Writing your own lyrics has always been an inherent part of hiphop. Nobody expects pop singers to write their own lyrics.

No **** dude . I have no idea why y'all are still comparing drake to r&b stars. It's like y'all are okay with a rapper not writing his own rhymes. You would be okay with pac not writing Brenda's got s baby?

He needs to excuse himself from the rap category

and would you be shocked if it came out that any of those guys doesnt write 100% of their music ? i wouldnt be ; i guess that's my point . when someone drops 50+ songs a year that most people feel are quality and is also touring and such , its not out of the realm of possibility to me that they get some writing help

Naw those dudes don't say anything though so I don't doubt they write their own stuff

People these days don't know music, especially rap. Pac is my favorite lyricist, one of his most lyrical song in my opinion is If I Die 2Nite from Me Against the World. Him using alliteration through the song was amazing.

  who knows

personally i think its a bit disappointing , particularly bc he has bare lyrics about being "the best out" and "best ever" and all that . cant make that claim if you're getting entire tracks handed to you
