🦉The Official Drake Thread6️⃣ - Scary Hours 3 11.17.23

Most of the people I know that listen to Drake think he's a clown.

People did not think Ja Rule was a clown until around his third album. He had too many duets with Ashanti and kind of killed himself. Ja Rule would be the man today with those records. Rap music is mad weak today and fans will allow anything. Ja was big before VVV but really took off during 3:36.

I haven't seen any Drake interviews since his album dropped.

LOL what. I know I'm in the Drake thread but Drake has NOT always been respected by the hip hop community.

This is just a fabrication of the truth.. SFG made him get respect from the hip hop community which was over 6 years ago. Shaheem Reid named SFG the top mixtape of 09 and the majority of people agreed with him.

What is the hip hop community anyways? A bunch of purists who like their rappers to emulate those of the past? You can say he wasn't respected by those types but either way comparing him to Ja Rule is ridiculous when he was always about singles. I remember growing up during that early 2000's period and no one took him seriously after his first album. He was out there singing with J Lo letting her drop N bombs.

Ja Rule has not always been looked at as a clown. He was very much respected for his first 2 - 3 albums. He wasn't always a pop singer.

How long was that period where he got respect? I mean fell off by the end of 02.. so after his first 2 albums he was done.

Love a lot of Drake's music but Drake stans are the absolute worst. :x

This is just dismissive and brings nothing to the conversation. You said something untrue I responded and you failed to bring forward a response other than labeling me a stan. It's like clockwork at this point.

random question but has Drake not given any interviews recently regarding the record?

After that Rolling Stone Jay-Z Art comment off-the-record **** (and probably his comments in reference to Kendrick to some degree), he pushed the stop button on press.

Dude there's nothing more untrue than saying hip hop as a whole has always respected Drake from day one.

I mean for goodness sake, take a look through the five year history of his thread and you can see many of his own fans crying about Drake's lack of acceptance. You're in complete denial dude.

The funny thing is - a lack of acceptance in some circles really doesn't say anything negative about Drake as an artist - but you're in such denial over your favorite artist's status that you genuinely perceive that as something negative.

If you people call you a stan like clcokwork, guess what, you are a stan.

I know people who don't like/don't listen to Drake because he's "soft" "was raised rich" and any other reason you can think of...they don't even care about the music (which is good IMO), but I really don't value the opinions of people who shut any artist out without even knowing the music

Kanye is a prime example. "i didn't listen to yeezus cause Ye is an *******"

What?

I already said those who didn't respect him from the beginning don't respect him now. The people who call themselves purists will never accept him for who he is. Why are you mentioning old threads on NT? Were you even around for the first Drake thread?

Yall can say he wasn't respected but I don't don't any other new MC who could of got the biggest rappers in the game to remix his song in their first year out. 'Forever' anyone? Jay even said SFG was all he listened to that year. He was basically getting a cosign from the biggest rappers at that time. Hip Hop as a whole maybe didn't accept him from the start but the biggest rappers in the game did. The only person I saw hate on him early on was DMX who was cracked out and looking for attention at that point.

There's also a stop time option , that's how I cut Cassidy out of 6 minutes of Death and created 3:45 of Death

this explains SOOOOOOOO much about your musical tastes. I will never debate you again about music. Thank you for the clarity.
When people say that i think they were too young to know that Ja Rule was always looked at as a clown. Drake ain't never been comparable to that dude he's always been respected as a real artist since the beginning. People like Charlamange been saying the exact same thing for over 5 years now and Drake has only gotten bigger and more respected during that time. His career has already outlasted Ja Rule's very brief run which he always looked at as a joke to the majority of the hip hop community.
....i was about to say something but i know meth would snipe my post. ill just say, your cape game is strong. REAL strong. you act like a groupie for drake in every single post you make. this post fulla lies. and then u referenced charlmange corny self as a reference. ill just leave it at that.

It's fair to say that from when he became known by most people, he was respected. He was standing next to the most popular rapper and could rap and sing. So Far Gone was major. That's basically day one, to most. He never went through a period of having to "earn respect." The music was always right.

And Ja kinda was a clown from day one. Because he was hard to believe. His persona was a hard sale. He was too "gangsta" sometimes and other times just singing his heart out. It was an era of authenticity and he *barely* got by with that.

They're not comparable.

I mentioned this thread's past because it pertains directly to the topic at hand, and you said something kind of stupid and untrue that's also easily refuted simply by reading through the course of this thread.

But we good now, you've done your best to stannishly backtrack and correct yourself.
laugh.gif

It really doesn't say anything bad about Drake to acknowledge that he's travelled a somewhat unique road in terms of acceptance and identity as a rapper.

Look we already know your reading comprehension is comparable to 3rd grader with ADD. You couldn't even comprehend the Billboard chart

You've been skirted not only by me but by at least 3 other posters in this thread so take your salt and leave.

unbunch your skirt. i wasn't wrong about the charts, u didnt understand there was more than 1 billboard chart. and saw landing on any billboard chart as impressive. but drake sneezing to you would be the best sneeze you ever heard, so of course anything he does is impressive.

"comparable to 3rd grader" sounds about right.... many people in here are being honest and unbiased, you are not one of them. and im not salty. i was putting people ON to drake since before tell me lies came out...

now get to googling to find out when that came out.

At people acting like that Cassidy verse was some mind blowing Earth shattering thing and to not like it is blasphemous.

The topic at hand was about Drake not getting respected from the beginning which was the 09 SFG era. I proved you wrong and even told you the purists didn't accept him from the begging but the majority of the hip hop community did. Then you started talking about posters crying about him not being accepted. Once again read my first response were I said 09 it had nothing to do with this thread. Were talking about Drake not getting respect from the beginning which would be in 2009. You don't seem to comprehend that fact .

If you could show me any of these posts were someone said anything about Drake not getting respect from the hip hop community I will gladly forfeit my account. Since I know your wrong I'll just sit back and chill knowing you had to make up some **** to prove your point.

I said the Billboard Hip Hop chart and it went straight through your fat head. (I saw your twitter)

The songs I was referring to were on the Billboard hip hop chart then you started saying It was only digital some ****. I really think you just can't comprehend basic reading skills but we'll keep it moving since I'm getting bothered dealing with such a simple minded person.

way to dodge not knowing when the song came out. not address my "saltiness" nor your 3rd grade grammatical mistake while trying to call me out for comprehension... etc etc

all ur doing is calling me stupid in the 3 ways you know how to. and apparently i have a fat head as well
laugh.gif
i hate to pull the age card and ask but you make it hard to resist. and i said the hiphop chart was a digital chart. it doesn't carry the same weight as the hot 100 or any of the charts that actually matter and will net you a grammy. but YOU didn't understand. made obvious by "or some ****" but you're right. please do stop. again, you caping HARD. of the two of us, its not me who is salty lol.

drake is drake, love em or hate em. but you actin like a groupie straight up. its cool tho. its a dirty job but somebody's gotta do it right? then again...u were the same one saying that earl sweatshirt was the illest teen rapper of all time right? i should stop debating you too...

So there you go you finally admit you were wrong.. Now your talking about the hip hop chart doesn't compare to the other charts well that's cool since it's your opinion. The man tied his own record for having 14 simultaneously hits in the hip hop chart and I thought this thread should be informed. That was all my post said then you called me a stan and then said I was wrong when I was right all along. You thought you were going to embarrass me for being wrong. It's good knowing you have the guts to actually admit you didn't comprehend what I was saying.

How old are yall saying Rule didn't have respect? Pain is love came out in 01 and that's when ppl started to silently jump ship but he still had the respect. People stopped respecting him once 50 came along and killed his career in 02. So from 98-02, dude had respect and worked with pretty much every big name in rap. Lets also not act like dude didn't lowkey father that whole singing/rapping extra soft ****. There wouldn't be any "I need a girl" type jams or the joint with busta and mariah if ja hadn't paved the way. So pretty much we can thank Ja for all of this soft ****, but you can't sit here and say that man didn't have respect in the biz.

It wasn't until Ja Rule was skipping at the carnival with Asanti that I lost all respect for him.

As far as drake goes he definitely the man right now. And he acts like it to. This is easily his weakest lyrical effort tho. Hope he don't jump onto cruise control now that he's "King".

i like what u said right there. it implies somethin VERY true about hiphop. when dudes become "the man" they stop trying as hard. a la wayne, a la kanye, a la jay, em, jay elec?, nicki, drake. even outside of hiphop beyonce stopped trying a LONG time ago. have yall seen the lyrics to 7/11?
roll.gif

anyone saying ja didnt have respect probably isnt old enough to remember y2k. dont pay attention to their opinion.
