🦉The Official Drake Thread6️⃣ - Scary Hours 3 11.17.23

I have no patience with this dude since his MBDTF review. Fam gave it a 6

He gave HOB from XO like a 3, which was like...what

He be trolling for shock value man, and "supports" is ratings with some pseudo intellectual BS to make it sound like he knows what he's talking about lol

I like the fact they throwing little jabs at each other on the same song

It's Light Up pt 2 to me. Drake finally made into the big leagues "I'm holdin all the cards and they wanna play chess now".

Hov was reminding y'all of his greatness "I had Benzes before you had braces". Talked about all the artists he made millionares who are ungrateful. Its one of the best features Drizzy had in years.

Yea because that's the extent of depth in Future's music.

Come on b.

Obviously not, My favorite future record is "Hardly" off of the Monster tape. I remember watching a BC interview with LA Reid and he described Super's music as "Soul Music" and I agreed with that 100%.

I was just alluding to the point that you don't have to be black or from the gutter to analyze black music, I don't think. I don't think music has a specific color in that regard.

I think it depends on the kind of black music you're talking about but I feel what you're saying. Any random person can analyze and break down a song like the DS2 intro

But some stuff you need a little more knowledge. A random head off the street ain't bout to successfully analyze a full dead prez album or fully grasp something like TPAB in all its overrated glory.

Like it's been stated it's a cultural thing. There are themes and words and feelings that some people, even some black people, just aren't gonna get. It's like this with other kinds of music too.

And even then it's less "this white dude reviewing our music" and more "these white dudes are deciding what's hot in our culture, along with these other white dudes exploiting it for their own gain". I love that all races of people embrace things that we do. But I hate that what we do is distorted, stolen, and repackaged once the realization hits that it could be exploited. It was like this before hip hop and it will be after.

It sucks because one of the few things we have as our own isn't even in our control now. We aren't even the biggest consumers of our own music here and I think that has a lot to do with it.

I typed too much though I'm done now

"I'm the big homie and they still be tryin little bro me"

Are these dudes in here trying to say the Hov verse from pound cake was trash?

If they are then I might need to unsubscribe now because they sure as hell don't know what good music is.

It's only MRwaves who thinks that, but he also thinks Wayne is better than biggie

It's not bad drakes verse and pmm2 are still better thi
It's crazy y'all talking about Pound Cake.  Was literally listening a hour ago, thinking to myself "Drake's verse was hard as Hell".  Then my next thought was "I hope he wrote that ****"

Come on b.

He reviews way too much music in different genres to even be critical Stay in your lane. Whats Fantanos lane?

You think Rosenberg gonna give a fair assessment of a 21 Savage mixtape? No he's gonna review Pro Era mixtape and I'm gonna trust his review. I know his lane

Plus do it look like turn up to Future?

When Drippin or Groupies comes on and you don't have a reaction like Big Quint Indeed. I can't take your analysis serious.

On a review I wanna hear yeah Pluto had bangers but it fell flat, Honest was garbage but DS2 is this generations Cuban Links

Race don't mean you can't review hip-hop.

But it's if huge importance if were talking about huge hip-hop outlets and black people aren't in the mix that's troublesome

Then leave then, that's an exit, cake
I haven't addressed you once in this thread because people like you are just straight up fans.  There's no objectivity in anything you've got to add to the topic.

Drake could drop a tape of him taking a dump and you'd say nobody in history has ever taken a dump like that before.

You're a Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift level fan with it.

If you love Drake's music, that's cool but every other rapper that's out now or came before him doesn't have to be trash for you to feel that way.

"Nah cuz they wrote those lies themselves so it isnt fraud"

I mean if you look at it as entertainment (like we all should, the conversation is just sticky because of how influential hip hop is to misguided black youth with no role models, but that's another conversation), then this is perfect logic. A Quentin Tarantino movie doesn't have to be true, you just respect his creativity.

In any other medium, you wouldn't give credit to someone for work they didn't do. I'm not gonna say Samuel L. Jackson did a great job directing Pulp Fiction. I'm gonna give Sam his props for being a good actor and Tarantino his props for being a good director.

Drake fans (and Drake himself given that he's still in raps calling himself "The Best Ever" after he has been exposed for getting help multiple times) have this weird all or nothing thing where they can't just accept people saying he's a great artist or entertainer and they try to force him in Top 5 or whatever convos off of lyrics that aren't his.

Just say he and 40 have a great artistic vision and that he's a great entertainer and leave it at that.
