I have to agree Wayne is overrated but that Carter I & II album though

Carter 1 is Wayne's best effort. A true hip hop classic.

Carter 2 isn't too far behind. If you hate on C1 or C2....you just a hater imo

Wayne was like the rapper for my generation growing yp. I Remember middle school knowing the Sq tapes from front to back. By the time I was a senior in HS the fall off was happening (07). Then c3 came out and he was trash and made music for white people who like random trash metaphors. C1 in my top 10 albums all time, idc.

Lil Wayne was always overrated.

He always came with the simplistic metaphors, but just sounded nice doing it. Now his flow is just ****** up. Wayne was no where close to top 10. ****, he's not even top five from the south.

He kept saying he was best rapper alive until people were gullible enough to believe it.

I have a hard time believing with his drug use he even wrote most of what he was saying.

Couldn't believe he started saying that **** and people started rolling with it. Wayne was never lyrical. His **** has zero substance. You'll hear a verse with 3-4 hard punchlines and then 3-4 trash lines in the same verse. Classic and Wayne will never go together. Mumbling garbage on a track.

Hoy boys vs young money? :nerd:
We even gotta debate this?

We really don't. Juvenile and B.G. >>>> anyone on Cash Money back then up until 2016.

Yea I don't care how you feel about Wayne, those two albums + his mixtape run after are objectively great.

From 2003 - 2009 Wayne ran hip hop ( not counting carter 3, but No Ceilings came out 09 and had to be included in his great mixtape run )

After that his drop off was insane :smh:

The drop off was insane because his run was inflated, Wayne got away with basic metaphors and abc punchlines. Dudes was acting like he was writing some great **** when it was all basic and simple, ill admit that his delivery was on point. HOV embarrassed him on mr carter and Wayne 3rd verse was embarrassing.

Nah. He was really spitting. Subject matter was lacking.....but his flow and metaphors were crazy.

Y'all can't listen to BMJR or Tha Mobb...and act like he wasn't rapping.

He got wack late 07 and 08...when he really hit mainstream. That's when he was overrated. 02-07...he was THAT NICE

I agree with this.

People always say wayne fell off, but to me he's been the same content wise since...well forever honestly. I dont heat it.

I just don't see how dudes can't hear the obvious drop off . Wayne ain't have the "substance"....but he made up for its with technical rapping ability back then.

Then listen to Wayne now.

Tell them. Punchline Wayne was the most popular...so that's who they remember. Wayne ain't really start going to that till around late 06/07.

He was FLOWING before on the Squad Up tapes, the Suffix, Carter 1 & Carter 2 and Dedication 1 & 2.

Wayne with "substance"....speaking about Katrina. ***** don't eem know bout this classic though :smh:

Verse 2]
"Yeah, over like yesterday floatin' to the floodgates
This is New Orleans, welcome to the blood state
A blood bath, and you ain't nothin' but tub bait
No political justice not even the judge safe
If his asz can't swim he get a closed case
We need our own space, I ain't talkin' about Jupiter
No luck, no help and we the fckn' future
I'm a hoosier, usually the cool one
But when I need it, I turn into a looter
God forgive, but do he forgive the brutal?
Even when it's for the better of your junior?
Soon you see that life's just another movie
And the main character dies at the end, usually
There's nothin' that haven't been done that you can do to me
I been hit, I been shot ***** shoot at me!"

Wayne was an entertaining rapper that made dope songs that was it. Trying to place hip up there with the biggie, Hov, and Nas is where people went wrong. Dude arguably has a top 5 career in rap history but his pen game is not elite at all. And his greatest rapper alive stigma was something he borrowed from the rapper he use to Stan
