They're THAT good!!

Well yes they are, at least IMO. Haven't tried the VFF Bikilas, they seem to be more true to the barefoot experience than the Free Runs, but then again I like how Frees integrate the ELEMENTS of barefoot running while still being on the traditional style of shoe. VFF's are more dedicated to the barefoot experience and a little less versatile if you ask me. Anyway more Free propaganda in a few.

This is from a guy who has flat feet and came from motion control/support running shoes with custom orthotics...The only thing I would say is start slow. Don't go for a crazy long run your first time out. They say that they are not made to be everyday runners but that is all I run in. I had a few runs of 12 - 15 miles in mine and never had pain. Break into them slowly and give your feet and calves time to adjust. As far as the colors, I am not sure. I am in Ontario, Canada and I got the gray / yellow orange. they only had those and blue and I wasn't feeling the blue. For me switching to the Free's was the best thing I could've done. Good luck.

ya you have to find out if you over or under pronate and find the right shoes. I underpronate(strike on the outside of my foot) and I use the saucony triumph 6.

Your 100% right. If you can make that leap of faith with the Vibrams, do it. They're amazing. I've only got the KSO model right now, but 2 of my friends have the Bikilas and say they really are a much better runner. I haven't been able to find them in my size and don't wanna order offline because the fit on all vibrams is different.

i just did some research and I'm pretty sure that I over-pronate. Any recommendations on what shoes I should get?

I was in finishline yesterday and I was clueless. The sales associate was trying to sell me a pair that were $134 and claimed that they were "the Lamborghini of running shoes"
laugh.gif
I decided that I would do some more research on my foot before I made a decision. Honestly, everyshoe I tried on felt exactly the same except for one pair.

I need to find a place that tells me exactly what I need.

The Sales Associate could have been right because most shoes designed for pronation/underpronation are $100+. My years of working in Footwear I don't recall any shoes that were less then $90 that had support for over or under pronation.

If you are sure you are Overpronating then the shoe for you could be either of the following: Brooks Beast, Asics Gel-Evolution, New Balance 993, Asics Gel Kayano, Asics Gel 2150, New Balance 760. I listed them from excessive Over pronation to less sever over pronation respectively. The cheapest one is the Asics Gel 2150 which retails at $100. They are catered to all different types of feet so almost any type of foot can wear it.

To make it easy for you to find a shoe that is designed for Overpronating is to look on the inner side of the shoe and look for a gray piece on the midsole. Here are some Examples. I circled them in Red

I usually run the free +, dope shoe. I went on vacation a couple of weeks ago and forgot my runing shoes so I went to the outlets just to pick something up to run in while there. Well there was no Nike store so I went to the reebok store and they had world cup edition (italy) classics on sale for $20 so I scooped them up figuring it wouldnt hurt for the week. They are actually a decent shoe to run in. Ive been using them for my runs on the treadmill and have no complaints after almost a month.

Love the Asics 21xx series. My 2140s are just about dead, so it's probably time for another pair of those. Ended up buying a pair of Lunarglides yesterday and took them on a 5 mile run. I felt that they were going back to the store at about mile two. By mile 4 they had improved enough to convince me that these just need some break-in time. I'm now confident that I can retire my asics until I buy another pair, which will probably happen this winter when the price drops on the 2150s. My other fav right now is the Nike Structure Triax. Something about that zoom air is just wonderful imo, and since I over pronate, they have the support I need as well.

I'll have to write a review for them and the lunarglides soon.

I've ran in air max 95's and they popped after almost a year. I've had prestos now for over 6 years and they're awesome. Super light, very supportive, no air bubble to pop. Prestos get my vote. Very comfy shoe to run in for miles and miles
