Help the young man out instead of sending him off. Aren't teachers supposed to be steering the youth in the right direction?

You think she didnt teach him anything and then gave him a test on it? You can play dumb if you want but surely this kid is a a HS class chose not to answer the questions and they wrote "#YOLO" as the only response. The **** are you on about like this is some lost unfortunate youth and the teacher was picking on him? If anything the teacher responding in simple and to the point hash tags helped him understand things better than if they would have wrote a paragraph.

Meh. It doesn't work that way. Assumptions being made, but a simple "see me after class" is far more appropriate than writing the kid's future off with hashtags. I personally would have handled it differently. The whole response seems like "oh well, just another lost cause" to me

You're opinion won't change so there is no need for a reply.

I use to just write "This is inappropriate" or "You could at least try" when my students wrote stuff like that or didn't try. So yeah coming from someone who was in the classroom, that teachers response was unnecessary. The teacher has to be the bigger person, now if they have a really strong relationship then all is fair.

Those of you that see something wrong with that teachers alleged response probably also support the 'no child left behind act'...

she just did. unless that minimum wage sounding good to him... he needs to straighten up. its called tough love. if he had more of it, he probably wouldnt think its a good idea to write yolo as a test answer.
