Ok sorry for the poor illustration but I couldn't find a pic because well.. I cant remember their name...   I bought mine around 2002-2003 and ended up having them stolen.  The pair I had was all silver upper with a red plastic heel very similar to the heel on the Jordan 2009.  I think they also came out in a colorway with a navy blue upper and maybe a sea foam green heel...They werent very popular and I think i remember seeing them on clearance in a eastbay mag once

The shoe had no laces but instead had one plastic clear strap that snapped to a metal button on the other side of teh shoe.  If i remember correctly it had clear soles on the forefoot and heel.  I cant remember if it had ribbing over where the laces should be or not.  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks

My first thought was the Fantaposite Max:

until you said the part about the strap over the top.

I remember them, but can't think of the name right now.  I know they were an alpha project shoe................

Ah, the Air Max Specter; very solid cross-training shoe, good execution/concept (no laces! Cool!) EXCEPT for the fact that in my pair in the right shoe the insole detached internally from the footbed & actually would warp while I was wearing the shoe. Ended up giving my pair to Goodwill.

Despite that major flaw if they had not gone that route I would have hung onto them for gym wear. Great comfy shoe overall once you were able to wrestle the upper strap into place with that little metal peg thing.

That's a great sketch/rendition OP by the way; it almost reminds me of a basketball shoe (forgot name) Nike did that had that similar upper look.

Still trying to get rid of my Fantaposites since I'm riding the Vibram KSO/Nike Free route now; Nike should retro the Specter, the Trainerposite.

With all the crotch riding on Posite anything now I'm sure they will get love too

Air Signature player.  I'm two for two!  FYI - I worked for NIKE Basketball back when all these released and this is bringing back great memories.

I doubt they would retro this shoe because it was not popular when it came out but I loved it myself, I have the exact same CW you had, silver/red. The strap was basically pointless, that little metal peg had three dots on it. You attach it to the lowest one down, the strap flopped all over the place, you attached it to the highest one, it was way too tight. A very comfy shoe and the TPU support plate was a very nice feature and I remember that Nike treated this shoe like the Prestos, a bajillion colorways, mens and womens. I was partial to the black/silver ones that Jason Giambi wore in print ads. Oh and BTW, it was NOT an Alpha Project shoe.

Actually no LOL I was thinking about another Nike Basketball shoe that was made of full grain leather upper. (Slaps forehead not able to recall model name), sort of a forward's position shoe due to the Max Air unit. I'm sure if I look into my Bobbito Garcia book it'll be there...

Still have my DS pair of all black Signature Players, sz 11 in storage... Anyone wants, lmk... I'd rock them but afraid of spraining ankles like everyone else who reviewed them on Niketalk complained about... Funny enough they "fit" better than any other Foam based shoe I can recall...
