I promised in the World Cup thread to do this so here it is. All football (as I call it and you should too) related talk here. Leagues not included in the topic are also alowed as you probably guessed.

Do you guys have any other recommendations for blogs, message boards of websites for info and general discussions. I use to try to follow international football pretty regularly but haven't done much of anything for the past couple years. Also and sportswriters I should be reading? Any help would be much appreciated.

Do we really have to keep going over this? 
It's understood that "football" describes European football better than American football, but it has become pretty normal to call the former soccer, because American football is hugely popular here. Might be wrong or unfair, but that's what it is, and it's unnecessary to create confusion by rebelling against this and insisting that a particular term be used to describe the game when it describes another game in the minds of 90% of Americans. And you even used "soccer" in the thread title, presumable because it'd be confusing if you'd used "football." 

The beautiful game is the beautiful game by any name.

Might be wrong or unfair, but that's what it is, and it's unnecessary to create confusion by rebelling against this and insisting that a particular term be used to describe the game when it describes another game in the minds of 90% of Americans. I'm rooting for Arsenal in the Premier League but Chelsea and Man Utd. seem to be the betting site favorites. Should be interesting to see how well the City is working as a team.

I second the vote on the title change, Arsenal are so great we deserve our own thread. Lol. But seriously is this thread going to cover all leagues all season? Just off principle alone each league should get their own thread, I mean most threads in S&t are about a handful of topics and specific teams have their own so why should the whole football season in all the top leagues have only one? Idk I just don't like this idea for some reason, I feel that the football/soccer loving minority is accommodating to the majority as to not get in their way. Idk don't mind me I'm just ranting...

Just off principle alone each league should get their own thread, I mean most threads in S&t are about a handful of topics and specific teams have their own so why should the whole football season in all the top leagues have only one? I like the idea of this thread. In the past we havent had much trouble getting people to talk about the Premiership but the Spain and Italian league threads have been more abandoned than downtown Detroit.

We can also talk about the boring UCL group stage in this thread before that competition really starts to heat up in March and April.

I like the idea of this thread. In the past we havent had much trouble getting people to talk about the Premiership but the Spain and Italian league threads have been more abandoned than downtown Detroit.

We can also talk about the boring UCL group stage in this thread before that competition really starts to heat up in March and April.

Will be the first  time i follow  the EPL closely. Dont have a team  though. The l ast  EPL thread looked  huge. Hope this works as an all encompassing futbol thread. btw Chivas   vs Inter or Sao Palo for the  Copa Libertadores
