Finally got around to rooting my N5. Any combination recommendations for ROMS? and Kernels? It seems like Franco is the way to go for battery life. How about ROMS?

Someone here recommended Cataclysm. Will try it tonight.

Turn on Immersive mode. :pimp:.

I also recommend BeerGang. Cool name aside, its actually a pretty solid ROM.

Hey guys there is this guy selling his 2013 nexus 7 on Craig list for $140 and he is firm on it, is the 16 gig. Is there anything I should look for make to make sure I'm not getting played. He selling it to me with box and charger and says is in mint condition. Thanks for the help guys.

Just make sure it matches the picture (easy to tell with camera placement). The only thing to worry about is if its tied to a carrier (eg T-Mobile sim,) you might want to make sure that works with your own sim.

But other than that, just make sure it turns on, the USB port works, and you're pretty much good to go. Inspect for scratches and everything as well, of course.

Man put a new ROM and my battery is trash. Anyone know what Google services is? 21hr awake time
Google play store, Google now, etc.

But just FYI, battery life will always be different with a ROM after one cycle. Charge it to a 100 a couple of times and see if it gets better.

You could also download an app like ROM Toolbox and manage your tasks.

700

If all else fails, try downloading a new kernel (they should also be in the development section in whatever site you find ROMs.). You flash it just like a ROM and it can add to your phone in different ways like tap to wake, voltage settings to save battery, etc.

Yea been a while since i've had to root my phone. Forgot about the cycling of the battery. plus I think google services was working on restoring apps etc.

I have Franco Kernel on here now. Can I do the tap to wake feature? Ill give it a day or two to see if battery life has improved.

Thanks!

Nope. Franco's doesn't have the tap to wake feature. Other kernels do (they'll often be labeled t2w, or s2w) and you can use that ROM Toolbox app from above to change the kernel settings to make it do tap to wake/swipe to wake.

Thanks for all the help! may stick with franco if the battery life gets better. Main thing i need is a longer lasting battery.

hows the proctection on that? I think ill cop :pimp:[/quote]

protection is great, keeps the front and back of the phone looking new while adding good looks and keeps that sleek profile. Sides, top and bottom (like where the USB port is) is not covered so keep that in mind.

So I met up with the person and it turns out it was a lady, sure enough it was a brand new 16 gig 2013 nexus 7. I checked everything and was more than pumped, she said she only used it a handful of times. I was lucky enough to find it as she has posted it that same day :smokin.
As I gave her the $140 I told her that I was surprised that she hasn't sold it yesterday cause it was a great price and she said " really I should have sold it for more then". I said thanks and dipped

Do you think it'd possible to use SMS via Hangouts on tablets (WiFi).

Isn't Apple able to do this with iMessage and iPads?

I copped a skin from icarbons I saw that dbrand didn't have skins for the sides also it was just for the front and back.

Yeah, that's how iMessage works.. you can use iPad, iPhone, probably your macbook too.

At the moment it isn't possible for Hangouts to work as SMS on your tablet.. maybe once they improve Hangouts more.. until then noop

And I think it's between just those few devices.

since iMessage is only apple products.

But iMessage is still 100x better than hangouts.

iMessage is def still 100X better than Hangouts. I use it from My MBP, iPad and old iphone still alot more than I would ever use hangouts. I know google is trying so I'm still rocking with Hangouts as my default txt messaging app for the moment.
