So most of you buy phones full price instead of buying the phone at a discounted rate with a mobile provider? My sprint contract just expired and Im in the market for a new phone. I currently have  the IPhone 5s and im thinking about going back to android. Ill most likely copthe6p, the Note 5, or the New Moto x. What are your reasons for buying a phone without a contract.

6P is flames. waiting on the MKBHD vid, but this is looking like my next cop.

i think samsung is leaving the note 4 behind....

what do you mean by the note 4 comment?

i get the feeling samsung, in order to keep up and be competitive, it will focus more software engineering on its latest and greatest. note 5 came really soon imo. they threw better camera software at it, fingerprint is tap to unlock (not sure if software or hardware), the home double tap to camera, and 5.1.1 out the door. they are gonna focus on their latest and greatest to compete with the apple and the note 4 will just sit tight with 5.0.1 and won't get added features. and in 10 months time the note 6 will be out or some ****.

note 4 is dead.

That touch fingerprint scanner is a hardware feature, and some versions of the Note IV are on 5.1.1. I agree with almost everything else you said though; Samsung treated the 4 terribly and it does feel like they've pretty much forgotten about it :smh:

I won't be selling mine since I like having a back up phone, but I'll definitely be paying it off early next year and looking at the Nexus 6P. I'll miss some TouchWiz features but I'm tired of locked bootloaders and slow software updates.

Also, definitely will be keeping an eye out for those Lobo lobs :nerd:

It offers you a lot of flexibility. If you're someone that likes to try out multiple phones in a year, you can sell your current joint and get another one at little to no loss. No need to worry about monthly payments either. The Nexus 6P and Moto X Pure are only available off contract so you can buy them free of carrier bloatware. Also much easier to root if that's something that interests you.

My main reason is flexibility and a lower monthly plan. Since I own my phone, my phone bill is a lot lower then someone paying theirs off to a carrier. Also I can choose whatever carrier I want and leave whenever I want, I will never sign a contract in my life again for phone service

MKBHD might have just ended my journey into iOS, I might be sold on the 6p

I already made the jump

Let me know how you like the 6p it looks legit...

Who knew huawei would come this hard  easily the best nexus phone

How are you liking it so far? If it wasn't for the phone being sold out everywhere here I would have made the jump too

I'm not going to go too deep into because we're in a android thread  but.....

the battery life is great and iOS is extremely smoove. The only thing that's getting me is not being able to download/ movies from the net or being able to download outside apps that illegally stream shows and movies

That's why I'm looking hard at this pixel C :nerd:

Sorry for such a dumb question.if you are on a family plan is the bill lower with a phone not on contract??

Yes, Phones plans usually come w/ the added cost that you save on the phone, u just don't really notice it because that added cost is broken up into xx payments (length of contract) With the new leasing plans, it becomes clear. Thing is, once you're contract was up, you were still paying the cost of the phone that's been added into the bill. With the new leasing plans, that's not the case because once the phone is paid off, your bill drops by the amount you were paying in order to pay off the phone.

Buying ooc(out of contract) just gets rid of that all together. Yea it sucks if you want a phone and don't have the up front cash to buy outright, but in that sense, it allows you to see your priorities, like me, I want the 6P and wanna get my wife the Moto X, but I can't afford to drop $1000 on phones so I'll have to pass until I can.

Just switched colors on the 6P pre-order about 3x. Settled on Frost White.

I was thinking of doing the same

Now that I've seen the hands-on pictures and videos of the graphite, I'm not so sure I want to stick with my order. The finish looks weird, kinda like skateboard grip tape or truck bed liner

The white looks really handsome with the mirror-finish trim. Just wish the 32GB option was available.

Gave in :smh:

Prospective 6P owners: what case are you getting? I've been Team Raw my whole life, but an aluminum phone that's way too big for my hands means I'm gonna drop it a LOT.
After spending $200+ just this year on getting my N5 screen fixed I'm def getting a case. gotta find something minimalistic
Got both a Project Fi and OnePlus 2 invite today.

I really like the 6P. I'm just gonna wait for the early adopters in case there's any bugs or issues and get it in a few months. Learned my lesson from getting the Nexus 5 on release day and having annoying loose power buttons on the first phone I got and the brand new replacement they sent me.
Gonna move to Verizon for a lil bit and try Fi out for and choose from there

Comparing Spec to Spec of all the summer/fall 2015 flagships.. i dont know how anyone could downplay the 6P.  If this was Apple, people would be falling all over themselves.

Also, regarding case, I use a minimalist a setup that has worked amazingly well on my 6+, through 3-4 drops already

A thin, nearly see-thru TPU type case, and a full-screen tempered glass.

Amazon product ASIN B00NZOMX1C
Amazon product ASIN B00QZRYLBQ
On the 6p, I plan to rock tempered glass on the front, and hopefully, some kind of screen protector for the back of the device.

Personally, I don't think so. It's a one time fee of $89 to be covered, but $79 deductible for each replacement and you can only do it twice. It doesn't cover lost or stolen phones either.

Still surprised at how raw Huawei went in when making this Nexus. By far the most aesthetically pleasing and premium Nexus ever built. And to come in cheaper then the N6 from last year....... If the camera and battery are even somewhat decent this phone could be a monster
Google’s Nexus 6P is now the second-best camera on DxOMark
The Nexus 6P  Nexus 5X  haven’t even started shipping yet, and the new phablet is already being praised in camera reviews. Google  on Tuesday insisted on the camera performance of its new devices, explaining why there’s no need for optical image stabilization and suggesting the phone is even better than Apple’s most recent iPhone.

Website DxOMark already put the Nexus 6P through its camera tests, concluding the phone is better than most smartphones, coming in behind just one smartphone.

The device scored 84 in DxOMark’s tests, just two points shy of the Galaxy S6 edge in first place, and two points more than Apple’s 2014 iPhones. The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have not been tested yet by the site yet. The same goes for the new Galaxy Note 5 and Xperia Z5 devices.

DxOMark found the Nexus 6P to offer “impressive detail preservation in low light conditions, by far the best-tested to date.” The site also said the 6P camera has accurate and fast autofocus in all conditions, good white balance and color rendering in outdoor conditions, and good flash performance.

Cons include “visible irregularities in exposure, color, texture and noise due to HDR+ mode activation in low light conditions.” Moreover, the highlights of the images are occasionally blown out, and shots are sometimes taken before the autofocus has converged. Man if I knew the 6p was dropping I would have held out on trying out iOS .....

Google definitely should have put this on carriers. It has the potential to make nexus phones mainstream especially with a high rated camera

It will be on carriers. Just no timeline as of when. Prob before the end of the year.

I keep looking at the 6P and then at my Nexus 6. I'm not sure if I want to make the jump, but damn does it look good.
