Nike Pro Combat basketball gear?

I normally wear compression shorts and sleeveless tops under my dri fit gear, because it really does keep me drier than if I wear regular cotton tees. Recently, I got kneed in the thighs playing ball and it hurt like a mother. I've seen the Nike Pro Combat gear with padding on it and was wondering if anyone wears/has worn it and what do they think of it? Does it do a good job of wicking away sweat while keeping you a bit more padded from contact? I know the pros wear it, but for the prices they charge I need to make sure Nike is giving me something substantial that I can't do without, were I to purchase some.

Thoughts?

you can get them discounted at the outlets. they're like the mcdavid hexpads in terms of protection.

Id go with McDavid. I have both McDavid and Nike. I HAD Adidas but decided to return it before i ever used them.

McDavid is the lightest and does the job.

Whereas Nike is not as flexible, a little on the heavy side. But its capable of taking harder hits than McDavid. It doesnt keep you as dry as McDavid though.

I remember somebody asked the same question a while back and a NTer that had all 3 brands ranked Nike last.

Hope that helps.

I've had my Nike pads for over a year now played in like 4 leagues... love my Nike pads one of the best investments i've made ... They have saved me on numerous times.. I also wear compression shorts under the pads to cure the sweat problem.. In the end I guess im just a Nike head, Im going with the NIKE ones... Just my opinion....

mcdavid hexpad compression shorts > nike pro combat compression shorts
maybe it's just me but i like the mcdavids over the nikes because the pads on the nikes were too bulky and restricted some of my movements. this occured especially in the hip area. it could be because i'm an undersized player but the bottom line is that the mcdavid shorts definitely felt better to me.

yea i have the Nike ones and they def dont wick sweat away too well especially under the pads. only paid $40 for my shorts so i dont mind, kicking myself now for not picking up the mcdavid ones when i saw them at a footaction on clearance.

i say try the adidas ones or mcdavids..

and Nikes have save me numerous times
