Boo!  Come on bruh, NSX is still the jewel of our generation:

Mine: (97 NSX-T)

My dream is to own both a red and black and I would do it just like this one:

^ Perfection

I think yours is a great example of an nsx, but I was just moreso saying that cars have really advanced in the past decade or so. What we thought was so cool back then isn't nearly as impressive if we look at them now just because there are so many modern cars that look awesome and put up unbelievable numbers. When you consider that the nsx came with 290 hp stock (quickly googled that so I might be wrong), you think of what $100k can buy you now and it's not even comparable.

Edit: you've got 1 out of 46 red/black (I think that's your interior color) nsx's that were made in '97. Pretty cool to have something so rare.

I agree totally with what you are saying brother.  I look at the advancements made by Nissan with the GTR and now Jaguar with the F-type coupe and Porsche with the Cayman and GT3 models and the technology is so far ahead of the original NSX.  But there is just something about this car when I drive it that I can't explain in terms of numbers with torque and HP.  The connection between the car and the road is unlike anything I have ever experienced.  I have posted this before but I think the guys at EverydayDriver nailed the essence of the NSX in one of their latest test drives:

I dont see the appeal in 700-900 horsepower cars. Most people can barely handle 300 anymore than 500 and ur asking for trouble

You dudes should be looking at cars you can actually afford. I doubt most of you can afford AMG, M Series, Porsche, etc... I know I can't and I make pretty decent money. On the internet everybody can be a baller though. If you actually had 911 turbo money then you would t be wasting your time on a sneaker forum.

dude.....what makes you think someone with money wouldn't be posting on a nike talk forum?
this is how you know people stay mad at other people they don't even know.

How are supra's overrated?

I hear people making 7-900hp to the wheels on stock internals.

Stock block but not internals.... if you want it to last for more than a few pulls. To get into the 800+ range without running obscene boost and compromising your motor you'll need Cams minimally.

500-600hp is still pretty safe mechanically and will give you a streetable car with more than enough power for anyone whos not professionally racing their car. The stock 6 speed ******s are also good for about 600lb/ft, but more than that and you'll want to start beefing things up.

As for overrated....IMO they're the 2nd most overrated car of the 90s next to the 94-96 Impala SS. I love them both, but they're very overrated largely in thanks to their pop culture appearances. Most people don't realize that the 2jz isnt unique to the Supra and the LT1 isnt unique to the SS. The prices on Supras are very high compared to any other JDM car of the era and I blame the F&F rice tax.... I can understand why a clean stock gte TT 6MT would command a premium, but you have people paying 20k+ for clapped out ge NA Automatics just to say they have a Supra. Its funny to thing mint condition SC300s with the same motor and chassis sell for under 10k. If the raw performance was their true objective they could buy a clean Lex and build it to have an ultra fast sleeper for the same price as a bare bones Mk4. For bonus sleeper points you could mod a GS or IS 4dr.

As much as I like the car, I hate the way Americans act like its in a class of its own when there are plenty of cars that rival its performance. If you look at the prices of mk4s anywhere else the US rates are pretty high in comparison. We are so easily influenced by movies and even though most wont admit it.... many people were first turned on to that cars potential solely due to the F&F film. Its interesting to think about how the Supra would be viewed had it not been featured in the F&F. I heard the original script called for Pauls car to be a 3000GT/GTO, but they decided to use a Supra instead..... I wonder if it would have increased the ricetax on those

Yea, I haven't followed up on reliability. But, I've read of quite a few people who've gotten that much power on a stock block and OEM internals.

Question about F&F. Is that how people got into Evo's? I remember being interested in them before ever knowing they were in that movie, and then got pretty disappointed when I found out they used an VIII in that Tokyo drift movie.

I dont know a whole lot about Evos, but they were popular in the tuner community long before the F&F films... I was always bothered by the feature drift car being an AWD road grabber until someone explained to me that its actually very easy to disable the power supply to the front wheels and make them rear drive.

There's a member here that owns a nice Evo.. Nelson999 I think... he could probably tell you alot more than I can.

not accurate. You're always gonna want more. you get your car to 500hp and you will be used to it in a couple weeks and be ready for more

and most people (the type of people that would actually buy or build a car like that) can handle the power just fine. people don't just get whiskey throttle because a car has a ton of power

ehh depends on the person.

Well yes of course there is a certain danger to driving an extremely high HP car, especially a RWD one. but i feel like most people can control themselves and know what they can and cannot safely do in the car.  but of course even then, accidents do happen

most people think they can control a 500 hp but even professional race car drivers make mistakes so a normal car enthusiast will be bound to make much more mistakes.

i've almost ****** up a couple of times, but i had calmed down. now i rarely drive that car though so every time i'm in it, i just go ham. i'm more worried about getting pulled over going some absurd speed than anything. you definitely get used to the power very quickly though. before i bought a DD, i actually started to feel my car was pretty slow after a couple of months. then i went on a trip with my friend and drove his tl-s part of the way and i realized how different my car actually was.

Thats theeeeeeeeeeeee worst bro.

Sorry to see that.

That happened with my Jeep before the SRT. I parked all the way in the back with no one near me and I come back and find a cart up against my quarter panel and I see tire marks leaving the puddle in the spot next to me. SMH :smh: Couple hundred bucks later and it looked like nothing happened.

People have no respect.

Thanks guys. Glad to hear the jeep looked like new after the shopping cart. And then you upgraded to the srt beast! I was kinda joking with my wife saying I guess I'll get a slightly used 2013 ZL-1 now and get it painted green. I m always careful about where I park but I guess it still doesn't matter. Was so upset couldn't sleep the night I found the damage. Got a couple god recommendations on body shops Will get a few estimates on wed. I'm hoping it will be able to look like new again. Kinda worried about being able to match the synergy green paint though

Not really true buddy, 300 hp is not much and regardless every car with 300hp will all feel different when driving them. Same goes for having a car with 500hp, they all won't pull the same.

If you don't see the appeal in 900hp then you should look into big slow SUV's.
